Dd and gks have been and gone. We had a lovely time. They had over a 2 hour delay on the way here as there was a signal failure, so there were no trains out of Euston station for a couple of hours 😩 on the plus side she should be able to reclaim the full price of her return ticket….but not the best when you have children and bags with you. It must have cost the rail companies thousands of pounds if not more in refunded tickets. No wonder the prices are so high 😳😁
We had quite a chilled time playing games at home and did go to the big shopping mall not far away. I had to chuckle how they’ve grown and their tastes are totally different. Eldest gdd was very excited to visit a new make up shop there which is quite expensive- I was amazed at the young girls in there buying expensive make up and having makeovers….not even teenagers 😳 Eldest gdd bought a lipgloss with her Christmas money (the cheapest thing in the shop) which was vetted by her mum to check for anything too strong for young skin but it was the carrier bag she was desperate for and to pose for a photo outside the shop 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️. Dd treated us to a Thai buffet which was lovely. I couldn’t believe we’d been in there over 6 hours.I’ve just cashed in a £50 M&S voucher for doing surveys…..I was quite pleased to have reached it as previously on a different site as soon as I’d been near redemption the surveys dried up. I’ll go and enjoy spending it soon, either at the same mall again or in the big city.A friend came around this morning and we put the world to rights.Tomorrow we’ll be going to visit a relative- not looking forward to it as she has Alzheimer’s and it’s getting harder each visit. We’ve had several calls again recently asking where a relative who passed away many years ago is and about her cat which also died years ago. It’s upsetting dh as it’s his side of the family. I’m at a bit of a loss as to what to do to help him as it’s a complicated relationship between them. All I can do is be there if he decides he wants to talk….but he just clams up and goes quiet. We’re heading out in Millie Motorhome on Friday….we haven’t been in her for a while. I’m looking forward to it. I’d intended doing all sorts this afternoon to get it ready but I was tired so decided to chill instead 👍 I’ll dash about tomorrow morning and get it done before we go to see relative.
Spends have been going well….all the shopping I bought in was paid for with cash I’d put on an @sc@ card before Christmas and hadn’t used. I did buy a bag last week when I went to Wales but I’d been looking for something similar for ages. I didn’t spend much on our day to the mall….just gave the gks £5 each..January spends - £587.582 -
Had a lovely weekend away in Millie Motorhome. We stayed I a pub a 15 minute bus ride from York. There was a great light show in the evening and a Viking Festival. So Vikings everywhere….it was quite amusing to see them in full regalia then getting a mobile phone out. We didn’t leave until Friday afternoon as there were lots of strong winds and we didn’t. Want to head over the tops of the Pennines in a high sided vehicle until they died down a bit. The weather was amazing on Saturday, it was so lovely to see some sunshine and see the spring flowers in the park. Then it went back to winter on Sunday so we headed home. I’d done really well spend wise on Saturday then on our way home we called into the outlet village 😳 I bought Dh a new waterproof winter coat….i can’t complain as he’s had his last one years. It was half price. Then I bought myself some new boots….exactly the same as a pair I already have but I’ve worn them so much there’s a hole appearing in the sole. But they feel nice to go out in and I have a new bag that matches…..and the inserts come out so I can put my own in. I bought us dinner there as Dh and ds had bought the other meals. So £200 later…..we should have driven past. We got good value for money so I’m happy with that.
i started emptying the back bedroom yesterday…I’m storing it in the front room the gks use and in our room. I’m going to totally empty the room and clean and sort everything as it goes back. Dh hasn’t got a clue what he has in there so the theory is he’ll know exactly what he has in readiness for when he finishes work next month and he can enjoy his hobbies without worrying about having to sort it. I’m going to carry on in a while.Whilst we were in York it struck me how much we both struggled walking around and standing watching the street acts and waiting for buses. My feet went numb after a couple of minutes of standing and my ankles were so swollen by the end of the day. I know some of it is to do with the arthritis but both were really swollen, as was my arm. It made me wonder about circulation. Has anybody used the thing Ian Botham advertises on tv. My friend has one and I had a quick go yesterday….i couldn’t manage at the strength they recommended but I’m not sure if it was my imagination or whether they made a difference. At £300 😳 I like the idea but not sure if it’d be another gadget to gather dust….January spends - £587.582 -
Mum and Dad have the Ian Botham thing but it was gifted to them by a neighbour. I can't stand it when I tried it but mum and dad seem to like it.Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.1

Sounds like a nice weekend away.
We are off out in ours this weekend. Think ours has had it's quiet spell for the year now. Seems to have got lots of things planned in for the year ahead now!!1 -
We're off out in our van this weekend too for the first time this year. Really looking forward to it.1

Just been researching the Ian Botham thing and I realised I can get the vat deducted as it’s for medical use. The annoying thing is there is also a £10 introductory bonus but when I put the code in it isn’t working. I came out and will try again later. Most of the reviews seem positive and it might help Dh too so I think I’m going together one. Thanks for the info Sunshine 👍I’ve paid my cc in full - just one item pending from weekend 😁 and ordered prescription I’ve also chased the appointment department at the hospital I go to with my arm. I spoke to the docs secretary at the end of January and she said they’d sort an appointment out for me and I haven’t heard anything yet. I’ve really struggled moving the boxes - they’re mainly small and not heavy. I’ve left the top shelf I can’t reach for Dh to do. I’ll dust and mop the room tomorrow and then it’s ready for Dh on his days off 👍 The small room is absolutely chocca block with the boxes 😳😳😳😳😳
The singing group are singing in a care home tomorrow. It’ll be the first time I’ve ventured to that area on the bus. It’s 10 minutes by car but 2 buses. I think I’ll get the bus there and walk back home….its not far from where I worked and I could walk that in 45 minutes.Enjoy your trips in the Moho Joedenise and Relieved Sheff 👍January spends - £587.581 -
The care home event went well and seemed to be enjoyed by all.
I've had a streaming cold for the last few days but it seems to be drying up nicely now. I left ds and Dh to their own devices yesterday whilst I stayed in feeling sorry for myself 😂😂
I’m heading to pick up a routine prescription up so will ask the chemist what he recommends to sort it out once and for all.I bought the item endorsed by Ian Botham and was pleased with the price I paid. I got vat exemption and did get the £10 bonus for new customers. So far so good…..apparently it takes a while to notice any results but as long as it doesn’t do any harm all should be well.My weekend in York really made me think…..so I’ve rejoined Slimming World. I need to loose some weight to help my ankle and hip. I’m determined this time. Yes I know I’ve said it many times before but I can’t go on as I am. I’ve just made a gorgeous bottom of the fridge veg soup and added a can of butter beans to make it thick and creamy. Very nice even if I say so myself 😄
Dh has made a good start to sorting things to put back in his room….the boxes he has left to do are the hardest as they’re full of every conceivable wire, charger and electrical gadget ever invented 🥴 including all his old radio amateur equipment that he hasn’t used for at least 20 years and is now out of date…..I’m not convinced he’ll be able to part with them😂😂. We’ll see……January spends - £587.582 -
I called in the chemist to pick up my prescription and spoke to the pharmacist. She reckons I’ve got sinusitis which I thought was beginning…..so I’ve come away with a course of penicillin. I can’t fault the service at all. I’d have ended up at the gp in a couple of days as 9/10 it settles on either my chest or sinus. She also took my blood pressure whilst there which was high so I’m expecting a message from the gp asking me to either go in or supply readings for a week. She has been after getting me on statins for years but I keep resisting. 🥴January spends - £587.581
