Milann’s mutterings through retirement

Thanks Joe Denise it the blood pressure tablets they want me on but I’m resisting. It’s been teetering on the high side for some years especially when I have it taken at the surgery…..when I take it at home and send them in for a week they’re happy with them as they’re just within the ‘normal’ for my age. White coat syndrome 🥴Feel more human today so the meds are kicking in nicely. I’m meeting a friend tomorrow so I’m glad I started taking them. It’s lovely to see the sunshine this morning….long may it last ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️
Spending wise other than the expensive gadget I bought last week…which I have been using. I haven’t spent much at all (although that could change tomorrow) I’ve been using food from the house…I had lots of food from the big shop I did when Dd and gks came…not sure how many I thought I was buying for or how long they were staying 😂😂 There wasn’t much wasted though as it went in the freezer or had long dates. The only thing that I lost was some corn on the cob which was in a packet. It tasted ‘fermented’ and it was awful. Didn’t stop Dh eating it but I didn’t like it at all…..he’s still living to tell the tale 😳😂😂maybe I just got a duff one.I haven’t got much planned for today. I might potter outside for a while and I have some ironing which might or might not get done.I’m making a twist on shepherds pie but using pork mince. I’ve never tried this before but don’t see why it won’t work with a bit of grated apple and sage. I usually make meatballs with it but fancy a change.January spends - £587.583 -
I met a friend at big shopping mall nearby and as I expected it was a big spends day. I treated myself to some skin care products and gdds to oversized hoody style dressing gowns to keep at my house for when they visit. I couldn’t find one for eldest gdd but ordered one on line which I’ll collect tomorrow. It was from a shop I wouldn’t have thought to look at so I hope it’s ok. I’ve got sizes that’ll be extra, extra big so they last for them. When they come on the train they can’t carry such bulky items and it was decided chilly first thing last time they were here so it made sense to get them in sales before next winter 😁
I was a bit miffed as I wanted to spend the £50 M&S vouchers I’d recently acquired from doing surveys. I couldn’t find the email anywhere on my phone 😡😡 I checked my iPad when I got home and there it was. My emails usually go to both my phone and iPad so I’ve no idea what went on. I’ll just have to have another trip to M&S 👍 after I’ve had Dh or ds figures out what went wrong.I went to sw this morning and lost 1 1/2 LB…..I’m happy with that as I’ve felt a bit grotty and eaten some things I hadn’t planned. We had a trip to a garden centre this afternoon to claim my free cuppas for March. We weren’t sure we could use them as it was the same chain but not the local one. Anyway we were ok to use it at any branch of the same chain….so 2 free cuppas were had 😁
It’ll be an early night for me as I’m really tired tonight. Last day of antibiotics tomorrow…..they’ve made a big difference and I feel much better now.January spends - £587.584 -
Glad you checked the iPad , obviously it's like mine . Well done on the weight loss that's a great start.Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.1

Oh I like the sound of the pork mince Shepherd's pie.
Well done on the weight loss. After a not so careful week or so we now have an extra 1.5lb to lose again!0 -
Ooops didn’t mean to share my 1 1/2 with you RS 🤭
I had intended doing all sorts of things in the sunshine today but my get up and go has got up and gone. I went around to see my friend and we put the world to rights with a couple of glasses of wine…..which was very nice.I called to M@rrisons on the wat home it was about half 3 and the fruit and vegetables were 75% empty. I only wanted a lettuce. Were quite lucky to have several shops nearby so I wandered over to Ald! instead. It has really gone downhill in M…s.January spends - £587.582 -
Today I’ve been out with some friends. We got the train and went into The Peak District as one of the ladies wanted to suss out a pub she’s thinking of using for her 60th. The food was nice but I’ve never been so cold in a pub. There was an open door half way down the stairs to the loos where a man was working but it was blowing a gale through the building. We ended up going to a cafe along the road for coffee and warm up. We had a mooch around some shops which were mainly charity shops. There was a bargain rail and anything with a ❌ on the label was £2.50. I took a chance on a jade green top which will be lovely for going out and a dress from my favourite shop which originates from Cornwall. Neither look as if they’ve ever been worn. The dress need turning up but fits better than I expected. So a bargainous shopping trip 😀😀😀😀 The spends for today came from my cash for incidental spends.I had half an eye on tv yesterday and one of the chat shows were talking about referrals for fitness schemes by GPs. I knew they did a reduced rate one around here. I tried to phone the surgery but they don’t accept phone calls anymore so I filled in the recommended form expecting to hear in a week or so 🤨 Within half an hour I’d had a reply saying I qualified (even though I’d had a previous referral years ago) and the doc had already put the referral through. Then I had a phone call from the person from the scheme and will get an appointment for an initial interview/induction in a few weeks. Then I can have access to all the classes, pools and access to a trainer that gives a customised programme taking medical conditions into accounts for £21 a month, which is about 1/2 what I was paying at my last gym. It all depends if my arm will take it…..but apparently they can tailor things to suit. And one of the pools gyms is at the corner of my road. It’s not as fancy as my old gym but I can get there easily 😀January spends - £587.582

It is Beanie and there is a much nicer gym a short bus ride away in town. The one at the corner of my road is shared with a school and has restricted hours.I went to SW this morning and was quite surprised to loose 1lb a get slimmer of the week. I’m more than happy with that. Not sure what’s happening today. We might go to see my sister in law. Dh will ring in a bit to see if she is around.January spends - £587.581

It’s been a busy sort of week but I’m not sure what I’ve actually done. I’ve been pottering and trying to rearrange some cupboards upstairs to accommodate the numerous pairs of shoes Dh has acquired but doesn’t wear. I suggested he got rid of any uncomfortable ones - 🤣the look of horror on his face at the thought of getting rid of them as he’d paid for them….so next suggestion was why not sell them…..he decided it’s not worth the hassle. 🤷🏻♀️ I give up 😂😂 He did get rid of 4 pairs 👍 which went in a charity bag yesterday.
I went to a friend’s house yesterday for tea. There were 4 of us and we had a good old chat and decided on some dates for outings. I was pleasantly surprised with the bus journey as it’s a 2 bus trip which worked out just 5 minutes quicker than walking but there was no way I could have walked an hour yesterday. It’s only a 10 minute car ride though so it’s a tad annoying there is no direct bus.
I've been awake since 3.30 the last few days just not been able to get comfortable. I’m going for a steroid injection later today - it would be lovely if he could stick one in my elbow and ankle at the same time. There’s no way but it’s a nice idea.
i have just ordered some new curtains for my bedroom. There are 2 windows - 1 of which is a big bay. I managed to wreck my fav ones a year or so ago and bought some on impulse o replace them, which were totally different and I’ve never really liked them. The light is beginning to come shining through quite early again. They were quite expensive. I was just perusing yesterday and ther was a 70% sale on some navy blackout ones. Everything else in the room should match ok. So £75 is a bargain compared to the £200+ I paid last time.
Its lovely to see the sunshine but it’s still very chilly here.January spends - £587.582 -
Lost another 1 lb this morning which I didn’t expect as I’ve eaten out 3 times and stopped writing what I’ve eaten as I thought I’d blown it. It was lovely walking home in the warm sunshine. I walked through my favourite lockdown walk and if you ignored the motorway noise at the edge it was just lovely to hear the birds and watch a beautiful yellow butterfly fluttering between the bushed. Not sure if it was the same one of if there were a few of them but it travelled with me for quite a while. I’m very pleased to report the steroid injection has done a good job 👏👏
My curtains have arrived but I’m reluctant to open them as I’m doubting I’ve ordered the correct size…..I don’t know why I do this to myself. Anyway they'd been thrown over my locked gate by the side of the house so it’s a good job they weren’t fragile 😳 I need to pay my cc and pull the reigns in as I’ve let go of the them a tad recently.
I sorted my wardrobe yesterday and not sure if it’s to my horror or delight I discovered I had TEN addresses which are all too tight. I rarely wear a dress but have bought most of them on a whim because I like the idea of wearing dresses...My mission is to get back into them this summer. Some of them were from when I was at target weight many moons ago and I was laughingly calling them my cruise dresses….the cruise never materialised….but you never know…never say never 😂January spends - £587.584
