Milann’s mutterings through retirement

What a waste of an afternoon. Around 2 hours trying to cancel my car insurance. There wasn’t an option to cancel online. I spent about 45 minutes trying on the phone. I did actually get through, only to find they couldn’t access files as the system was down and would be for around an hour…..I tried again later…..another 45 minutes. I managed to speak to somebody and by the time they’d charged a fee for the underwriter and a cancellation fee I came out with £45….there was 5 months left and it was originally £245. Better in my pocket I suppose but it does seem a bit of a rip off.Today I’ve blitzed the living room and Dh has helped with the carpet cleaning. We’ve sorted out lots of paperwork, mainly to do with the cars and Dh had a fire in the garden as there were bank details etc on the papers. I was whiling away my time listening to piped music and messages telling me ‘the insurance line is very busy and will be with me as soon as possible’ It made me laugh that before you actually spoke to a person they laid out the rules that staff wouldn’t accept swearing etc…..rightly so. I was so wound up waiting on the phone, I could have happily given a mouthful about the waiting …goodness knows how someone with a short fuse would react 😳. Yes you can tell I was wound up by the wasted afternoon. In comparison Dh insured Millie Motorhome…..the phone was answered straight away by a person who dealt with him straight away.Early night for me tonight. I had a very disturbed night. Luckily the bag malfunction at silly o’clock woke me up and was easily sorted without too much mess, but I couldn’t settle back to sleep, as I half expected it to happen again. It’s not often I have trouble with it but it does like to remind me if it’s presence every now and then.
No cash spent today… £45 refunded from the insurance and £10 refunded from the road tax 👍👍👍 very nice at this time of year.January spends - £587.582 -

Sorry to hear your previous insurers had you on hold for 45 minutes twice today, at least you and DH know which insurer to avoid in the future.
Last month we sold our 2nd car and thankfully I could cancel my Admiral policy with a few clicks, in less than a minute I had received a confirmation email and my money was back with me well within the time stated. Which all makes me consider them when it comes to insuring our current car.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

I had a questionnaire to complete about the insurance experience. I didn’t hold back and told them I would never return to them due to the poor customer service.I had some sad news on Friday as my friend passed away. It was half expected but he was making progress then caught an infection. Gutted doesn’t come close. I grew up with his wife and they’re godparents to one of my children. More like family than friends. We were out and about when we got the news. Dh ‘needed’ a cleaning contraption from the Swedish shop. Our branch didn’t have them in stock so we had to travel over the Pennines. We hadn’t realised the motorway was shut for a couple of junctions so,went a scenic route. It was a lovely drive. Trouble was we hadn’t taken the battery consumption and long route visiting a touristy town (which was much further than anticipated) into account. Much cursing of the app showing where the charging points were and at one point it took us to a fried chicken shop with no charger 😂😂😂😂 I strongly suspect operator error was involved. In his defence he’s still getting used to it and wasn’t thinking straight as we just heard about my friend. A learning curve for us and we’ve laughed about it since. £15 spent on food out on Friday.January spends - £587.582

Sad news about your friend, sorry to hear this.WW stopped selling bars and crisps a couple of years ago as they wanted to move away from UPF. It was a shame in some respects as their Belgian chocolate bars were gorgeous but I do understand their reasoning.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0
