Two £50 prizes on the premium bonds Wahoo Following excellent suggestion on here it simply goes back into the premium bond pot and is reinvested but am delighted as this is the animals "health" pot.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!6 -
i agree it was a trauma response but have been so busy at work trying to clear up before another day at the dentist tomorrow I have just shelved that for now. "Day at the Dentist" sounds like a nice adventure but I'm really not looking forward to it at all. Have packed credit card as part of the bill will need paying tomorrow I think.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Good luck with the dentist - I didn’t have a bridge as it does weaken the teeth next to it so I wanted a long term ‘best ‘ solution but I am sure your dentists advice is specific to you and your mouth
@debtfreewannabe321 @Watty1 I am so sorry you have both been through these experiences- it does scar you and there may be a part of you (especially in your body) that will always remember the trauma response
Yoga can be incredibly helpful to releasing trauma and the physical responses, it allows you to reconnect safely with your body - I did a month yoga retreat once alongside a lady who had been stabbed over 20 times by an ex - and she was using the yoga to bring balance back and reconnect - she said it had been hugely helpful in downgrading her body’s stress responses and starting to feel safe again - yoga actually means health and helps the mind and the body
I really should start doing some again !DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Yes I really want to get back to yoga sometime soon too.
Thank you all for your good wishes however it seems @Slinky was on point. I saw my regular dentist first who asked how I was feeling about the afternoon's work and then launched into why he didn't think it was a good idea and why he thought it would fail very quickly and so on. He kept saying he did not want to be critical of a fellow professional but a guiding principle of dentistry was that the patient should always come first. He said this about 6 times! He then pulled up my x-rays and talked through why he thinks the planned work will fail. He said it was up to me but I have been a patient for a while and he likes me and he didn't want to see me waste £3500 on something he can't see working.
A bit confused I said I wasn't really sure what to do now and he said "get another opinion". The followed up by telling me of a specialist at another dentist that does referral work and who I should go and have a chat with and then decide. This referral person is a specialist in restoration and implants and all he does is work on referrals from other dentists and it will apparently cost around £150 to £200 to have the chat and then I can decide what and who I would like to do the work.
Interestingly I asked how I was going to get out of the appointment later and my dentist sent his nurse to say I was seeking a second opinion I checked both dentist and nurse were happy with this because they had to work with the other dentist and was told that (a) he was leaving the practice (which I knew) and (b) neither of them saw any possibility of working with him in the future anyway
Now I really do like my dentist and I was going to ask his opinion before the work began but the fact he couldn't wait to share his thoughts made me think the second opinion worth seeking before I do anything. Interestingly i also raised I still have the toothache I went in with and he suggested we give it a few days to let the work that has been done settle and then look at the really old crown next to the tooth that has just been worked on.
So all in all I'm happy with the outcome for now.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Sorry to hear about your tooth Watty, but it certainly sounds as though another opinion would be worthwhile to help you decide one way or the other. Well done on not pushing ahead just because you had an appointment booked. When he said that the work could last decades, I had to say I was a bit doubtful at that point. It's so easy for an infection to set in at a weak spot in the body and you'd have to think a filled root always has potential to cause trouble.I hope that the pain eases soon and you get to the root (bad pun, groan) of the problem.Make £2025 in 2025
