Someone gave me a lovely bottle of wine as a thank you for my spare tickets for the county show. It was most enjoyable, i slept well and have a headache this morning. These things may all be connected
I have messaged to see if i can get a date for the decorator to start on the remaining two rooms and this afternoon's plan is to put up the new kitchen lights. This evenings plan is an overall of the finances which need doing as to be honest I am muddled on that front to say the least.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

The decorator is still on the "big job" which is a block of flats but should be here at the end of August so that gives me a time scale to work on with my list of jobs that need doing. It would be lovely to get everything done so that is the "last job" (although I do want to find a bed frame for one room so that too can become a real spare bedroom and I wasn't going to do that until the room had been decorated but I think I might just keep looking on Marketplace for what I want and buy anyway once I have finished the declutter).
The maintenance person is proving more of a problem. Two no shows, another one found his strimmer would not start and has now vanished and another didn't turn up claiming sun stroke. I have no idea if I should chase up this motley crew or not. Tomorrow one of the 'farming types' is due to start at 9.30 so fingers crossed he will actually show up and make a start (first job strimming the nettle patch and finding and evicting the tigers Most Handsome say live there).
Financial review: I could pay three months emergency bills from the bills saving account if I needed to. I have paid my tax bill that was due the end of this month (paid 20 days early for peace of mind), the credit card account matches the amount due on the card (not planned, I just moved money from savings into it and will be more mindful of keeping that going) The savings rebuilding is only about a fifth of what I hoped it would be by this point - BUT - I have decorated a lot of rooms plus done the outside of the house and put in a new bathroom and that is a big plus for me.
Right I'm off to put up those kitchen lights

I had not realised unreliable trades were "a thing" until I started renovating here. The ex did most things or called in "his mates". I presumed people would come, quote and if you liked them and the price they would do the work. I never realised turning up, measuring, quoting, surveying and fixing a start date was just a game.

Kitchen lights up. Love them but have had so long that the return/refund part is not valid and it turned out that part of the fixings were missing. Have temporarily fixed but will need to buy some small magnets (the fix by magnets) to hold up the last two and they were not all the same so I have two remotes but hey I love them so all good.
Slowly slowly I am getting back to the jobs. Huge pile of cardboard to go to neighbour for her parrots sorted out too.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Well I am currently suffering (if that is the right word) from trades actually turning up early. Yes the scaffolding people turned up today at 9 & not tomorrow. Unfortunately I have only had chance to warn one neighbour & luckily I was up - but not dressed. I'm just wondering now if they are going to turn up early to fit the solar because they will need to come into the house. Repeat after me I am not getting stressed, then I will need a smart meter then a FIT supplier. No I am definitely not getting stressed. Sorry for the hijack obviously caused because I am not getting stressed. What was I thinking. To top it all off DS is hiding in his bedroom (fairly normal) & thinks that we are going to look well off so someone will break in. The good news is that according to one of my new watches my blood pressure is not up so I cannot be stressed
