@badmemory, Scaffolders are a law unto themselves - they come and go as they please as they don’t need access. Your solar fitters will be a different breed though - they should turn up on time.
Sorry for the hijack Watty!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

We've had a fair few tradesmen here over the last few years, electricians, plasterers, builders, chippies, scaffolders and gas engineers etc whilst getting the house done up. The builder was the worst by far. He started a job- knocked down my wall. Left it with supports in and great big gaps out to the garden, lovely view but a tad cold. He then called off sick. Then because he was grieving at a friend's death, then because he was doing a three peaks challenge and so on and so forth 😐 from start to finish it took six months for us to get back in our bedroom because of the holes he left in the wall 🤣 I laugh now but he was useless! All other tradesmen were really good so I won't complain about them. We won't be using him again when we move 😂😊

hijack away @badmemory So glad you are not stressed
@debtfreewannabe321 worst I have had was a plumber/central heating chap who was installing a boiler. He had good reason for needing time off but then didn't return for nearly 2 years! During that time there was no heating at all and all the quotes to finish the job highlighted no one could work out what he had done so wanted to rip it all out and start again. Another person i would not recommend.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

The agricultural man has not only turned up but has bought a van with equipment (that works) and started. I have been to take him a cup of tea and I'm so pleased with progress.
We have a plan for the part of the land he is clearing which was (a) strim it all down (todays job). I do hope Most Handsome has been watching and recognised I am right - no tigers lived in there! Job (b) sort the wood into piles, one for burning and the other to be cut into wood burner chunks and/or logs and stack in the woodstore and create a bonfire with the stuff that is to be burnt. Job (c) after 2 weeks spray the cleared area as it should have begun to sprout. I'm not a fan of spraying but I think it will take too long to pull by hand then (d) early Autumn pull a harrow or plough harrow through it and seed and so return this wasteland to field to be grazed when the seed has taken.
I'm excited. If i can ever get planning permission this will become part of the garden but until that time the horses can graze it. An area that was the ex's wood chopping, wood storage and dumping ground is going to be returned to grazing land.
Surprising what has turned up, plastic crates that stored kale (from the market garden next door), wire panels, metal panels, a garden incinerator (thought an old friend long moved away had kept that) and a few sheep hurdles. A random collection of stuff for me to decide what to do with now.

@badmemory is this a completely new solar installation? If so there's no such thing as FIT anymore. I'd recommend looking at Octopus for their very solar friendly tariffs. They will be able to sort you out with a smart meter. If you ask around amongst your friends most probably someone is already with them and can provide you with a referral code before you approach them, that will give both you and your friend £50 credit when you sign up and make your first payment. Avoid Scottish Power like the plague. There's a long running thread on here about the nightmare of trying to get paid for solar with them.

Sounds similar to someone I know whose landlord sent their dodgy handyperson to sort out their house when the cold water tank gave way in the loft while they were on holiday. The boiler has needed replacing also, he's put this in (not a registered installer of course) and now they can have hot water or heating but not both. The landlord has appointed an estate agent to manage the property now, they've had someone in to do a report and they've recommended it all be taken out and started again, but of course the landlord having paid once, doesn't want to pay again. It's alright at this time of year but not looking promising as we approach Autumn and Winter. They are considering moving house.

Having had my heating on in July I would say not even alright at this time of year @Slinky
The agriculture man who made such a great job yesterday is not sure when he can get back but will let me know. I haven't paid him and he is a nice chap so I'm glad he is busy but I have just have a 'feeling' that he might not be back. Not sure why other than I checked the distance between his place and mine and it is quite a distance if he is bringing his tractor here unless he has a trailer for it and he needs the tractor to drive the log splitter.
In other good news I have found the missing part for the kitchen lights and they are wonderful.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I saw a very short video whilst doom scrolling this morning and I have found it super helpful in getting motivated today. I have adapted it slightly. It was about goal setting and achieving goals so over breakfast I wrote my list of 10 goals (actually I had 12) The idea was you then picked one and the date you would achieve it by and worked out all the steps to make it happen by a set date and then started on them.
Well that seemed to complicated as i sat there with my breakfast and my list of 10 goals. Some seemed too big, some seemed unachievable but then an idea occurred to me. "low hanging fruit" so pick one I can achieve easily.
Some of you might have remembered I have been talking about doing a course. Well here goes, it will be ready by Monday. I worked out all the steps I needed to take which today included clearing a lot of "stuff" from my desk so that I'm not stressing about them and to my surprise being focused I have achieved a lot. I'm now going to clean my office so that tomorrow I can focus on the steps I have set out for tomorrow. I also have steps for Sunday and then steps for Monday although I just realised Monday the Charming Cob is going to the vets for his Arthramid injections (I'm also going to be doing a few other things too in treatment to give him the best chance of a comfortable life) so Mondays tasks might need to be Tuesdays but maybe I can even get some of them done Sunday.
