Thank you all for your support. I have planned an afternoon off work and am holding a "Ladies Day" party. I started this during lockdown when we were allowed to socialise outside to mark Ladies Day at Ascot. I wasn't going to do it this year but two friends informed me they were coming to mine LOL so an afternoon party is planned. Everyone dresses up as though going to Ladies Day at Ascot complete with hats. (It seems to have become an annual event)
Afternoon tea, a glass of fizz (or more for non drivers) and a sweepstake for each race, everyone puts a £1 in until all the horses names are drawn and then the winner gets the pot. Just off to buy bits to make a simple afternoon tea. Friends will bring extras to include fizz, strawberries, scones and cream so I just really need to make sandwiches and provide a cake.
I nearly cancelled it as the CC was due back at the vets but they cancelled the appointment as they had to book a surgery in so Ascot chez Watty goes ahead.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

The party was fun and there was a lot of left over food and drink. I'll freeze a lot of it today but I should be able to eat most of next week off cold quiche and salad and there will be two cakes in the freezer for future parties.
Have had a number of people out to quote for the field work and even offered work to two who failed to turn up on arranged day. So frustrating. Offered the work to another one yesterday evening and asked when he could start so waiting for an answer. Would really like to get a large part of the work done.
Somehow have picked up cold. Very sore throat and feeling exhausted and tired so need to be gentle which means very little is likely to get done on the house today.

Just call it a duvet day, @Watty1: we all need them at some point and rest now will help you recover. You've been working hard employment-wise and done a lot on the house so perhaps doing 'nothing' could also let you have a look around indoors and appreciate the home you're making your own. Did indeed have a duvet day getting up to do horses and to pop into a neighbours for the 40th Birthday Party. Lovely BBQ and sat in the sun chatting with people and watching the children play. Once again I'm struck with how nice people are here and how I love living here.
Funny after all these years, now it is me and mine it is really nice.
Tomorrow off with the VNM for a day out but couldn't sleep so got up for a slice of cake and cup of tea and lovely catch up with diaries on here.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
