Glad you got out riding again.
Well done on doing the meals - and well done on now stepping back. Boundaries are good. We all need to learn them and keep them with adaptations as needed. I love the input from people on here to help with that.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Lots going on here! Tooth infection damage control begins tomorrow at my regular dentist then I will decide what to do next. One the infection is clearing it should be easier to think about that.
Sunday I spent weeding, grass cutting and generally getting exhausted and decided I needed to employ help so Monday I advertised and I have been inundated with people offering to do the work. I expected one or two but I'm a bit overwhelmed. I've had two people out and the first one I liked and he quoted that night so he should be starting Saturday. I'm a bit sceptical until someone actually turns up based on previous experience but at least I have a long list to try if he does not pitch up. I know it is busy farming season so a lot of them have said they are keen but the reality will be for many of them that farming contracts will pull them away from the odd jobs I need doing. Anyway lets see what happens Saturday.
In looking through my phone to find someone I found a name that rang a bell from the past but I could not place so put the name into google. Hurrah!! It was a planning consultant I used years ago that I really liked. He has a very high success rate and rarely goes to appeals because he will only take cases he thinks he can win and that can be negotiated on if they get refused at first We had a chat for over an hour and he is going to look at the pre-app I sent in for planning to convert the barn to a house. He isn't sure it is a doable thing and we talked through why the previous planning consultants have said it is. Essentially he thinks that most take on work to pay the bills, the outcome is not really the point and that is what is giving planning a bad name. He takes work he can win, gets referrals because of it and is happy with this way of working. He trained in law, worked for an estate agent for a while and thinks planning is just about the law.. He once looked with me at a property I was thinking of buying with a friend a long time ago and his advice saved us making a big mistake (he remembered me).
Having spoken to him I feel I may not get permission on the barn, despite the optimism of the other firms but I still feel positive because this was my hope of securing my financial future. If it is not going to go ahead I need to make other plans to strengthen my retirement fund but key will be finding out what is doable. Facts instead of a dream I suppose.
Now off to work, busy day as will need to take tomorrow off re dental work, which I am not looking forwards to so trying to focus on the fact that the pain on the side of my face will be gone at the end.

Good news you have found someone for the gardening work it is amazing how much a few hours of someone good can really make a difference. I think it is money well spent and it sounds like it is well overdue so hopefully once it has been gotten on top of it will be less to manage.
Sad news about the planning application but good to know now rather than invest money and build up hope only to be disappointed again further down the line. I do not have any wise word for you other than look at all options but with your horses it sounds like what you have is going to be difficult to "downsize" from.Save £12k in 25 No 49

First stage of the work was done today. £900 paid. Have slept this afternoon. My goodness I feel like a boxing match took place in my mouth, however two problems were found the most surprising was a bit of file from the previous work was left in my gum. Apparently not uncommon but that with the fact the packing material had disintegrated and the root had not been filled properly in very old botched dental work accounts for the pain apparently.
Tomorrow is the charming cob's trip to the vet. Possibly an equal amount to be sent.
Am grateful for the health pot I set up to fund the horses vets and that I can 'borrow' from for me too!Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Wow, but its 'only' money (eeek) and to be free from pain will definitely be worth it

I'm trying really hard not to swear on your diary but all the asterisks and exclamation marks! Previous dentist had left a bit of file in?! That's not uncommon?! The root had not been filled properly?! Blimey, no wonder you've been in so much pain and had such difficulties. Well done you for getting it sorted, rest very well and be gentle with yourself8

Sounds awful, though of course the good news is that it's found and dealt with, and as Daisy says, you should soon be free from pain. I hope you sleep okay tonight, and I hope CC's treatment goes well.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
