It's lovely that you are cooking for her, that could make a big difference.
Is VNM sure she's eating? I ask because I used to make things for Mum and put them in the freezer, but she'd forget they were there so she didn't really benefit. It may be worth asking him to check her fridge/freezer or even bins.Self neglect is one of the things that would be pertinent in a care assessment, and this could indicate she's not looking after herself for whatever reason.
The freezer stash could be something you fall back on for her if you fancy a salad, though you've made it to make life easier for yourself.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

How lovely of you to extra batch cook - I would insist on the containers coming back - so annoying and extra expense
On the implants my dentist lectures across the world on implants - he once asked my permission to take a pic for his lectures on what a healthy gum looks like when he unscrewed an implant - so he is amazing and out of London so reasonable
the op itself was only painful as I had a tooth removed and he did it carefully as he needed to preserve bone with a special drill but the rest was fine
I have not regretted it at all - 3 years ago now
I just looked the distance between where he is (north of Watford gap but not too much!) and kent is 170 miles but can pm you name if you wantHorses do like to test you … ..DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

There are firms that will deliver meals for fridge and freezer, and they are reasonable priced. As I understand it she can afford to pay for this type of help, and I really don't see why you should be put in the position of worrying about it.Hope the horses get sorted out, and MH starts to behave himself! I used to order from Wiltshire FF for my mum. They were really tasty and she used to choose her meals from the catalogue.Delivered into freezer and microwaved for lunch and dinner4

I have an ailing friend who has used these meals for herself & her parents for years. I am sure she said they did the pureed ones too which her mother had for her last few months.

Just delurking to say yes, Wiltshire FF do all the different levels of pureed, minced and moist food, and I think it's possible to use one of the cashback sites to get them.
I hope you feel better soon Watty, background pain is a draining thing. Look after yourself as well as everyone else x6 -
You’ve got a lot on atm … echoing the comment about looking after yourself as well in the midst of it all.How did the session with the trainer and MH go? I hope the trainer wasn’t too shouty! 😉

I agree with Wiltshire Farm - my mum had them before she went into permanent care and she loved them. When I made a casserole, I used to do a portion for her and used those throw away lidded foil containers you buy in supermarkets, so my mum only had to heat it up and then wash her plate. The rest of the time she used ready meals - not for me, but she liked them. Do you think that refusing to cook/eat is some sort of manipulative act to gain attention? I had an aunt who did this to my cousin. My cousin cooked and brought food for her. When she broke her arm, she couldn’t do this and suggested a ready meal delivery. My aunt categorically refused to have them and guess what, when my cousin went a bit low contact (she couldn’t drive anyway) my aunt suddenly got her appetite back, decided to get a ready meal delivery and even started cooking again. When my cousin recovered, she never resorted back to cooking her and I applauded her for standing her ground.

Interesting comments as ever from you all. So I've shared about Wiltshire FF and said I've sent food parcels for a week, not one container has come back and yet I know she is eating so I won't send more as (a) I will run out of containers and (b) she can afford to buy herself some lovely ready meals and eat those. The week of my food parcels has given her time to sort out alternatives with her family (well actually from you all, but it it is almost the same thing as I have shared the information and an order can be made. I looked at the website and remembered the ex's dad used to have these too so all good.
In other news Most Handsome was a star and although a little stressed was beautifully behaved. I realised part of the problem is the neighbour who was working on his land doing fencing and part of the problem is that there is a huge area of overgrown stuff near where I was riding and this always spooks him. He clearly has a very active imagination and expects some wild critter to appear from the undergrowth and get him
Sunday I rode the Charming Cob them spent the remainder of the day doing grass cutting and harrowing and so on. Whilst doing this I realised I really do need help here. I only managed to cut some of the grass and weed and clear the riding arena so I am going to advertise today for a maintenance person. Somewhere in all that undergrowth is my chain harrow (which I would like to find so I can harrow the fields), wood to be chopped for the log burner and brush to be burnt but none of it is obvious due to the weeds, the bracken I got control of has begun to re shoot so needs bashing back, there is a lot more grass to cut, post and rail fencing to repair before winter and a few paths need relaying then there are some "would be nice to" jobs like changing gate catches, and light fittings and so on. Rather than look for someone to do "a job" and then breath again I'm going to see if I can find someone to turn up regularly and just work through a list. Having made this decision I feel a bit more positive about the outside. I had decided to just focus on inside work but yesterday it was clear that 4 to 6 years of minimal work outside means nature has fast taken over.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!12 -
Yes gardens will keep on growing - meanwhile at least you are helping support the environment and wildlife!DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
