Love the names! Saw 3 girlfriends for a pot of tea this afternoon at a local cafe and came away with 3 paperbacks to read, one of which I wanted to read (the Tate & Lyle factory girls book, one about being in service and another about evacuation in the second world war). Great afternoon, and managed a quick ride on Charming Cob before going out.
No work on field done, I had a lot of stock delivered and VNM pointed out we were unable to use the living room until it was unpacked so that has taken the rest of the day.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

How did the Miss Read books pass me by? I've never heard of them. It's my book club choice in April and I was going for an Elly Griffiths (Dr Ruth book) choice. I might have to have a read!

@Suffolk_lass Miss Read books are just gentle and easy and about village life and the slightly quirky characters around. Not demanding at all.

Cooked a roast chicken on Sunday. We are on a food economy to use up and also so I can finally deal with the credit card which since the start of this diary has been an issue. I do pay off the previous month in full but by then it has also built up a lot for the current month. Pay down is going well, food economy also improving but the roast chicken was to be a "treat".
We ate in the garden and had it with roast veggies (beetroot carrot onion) oven cooked potatoes and some cabbage and gravy. Yum. My plan was that the chicken would last us until midweek if not later. I had meals in my head planned out.. Yesterday we had left over roast (all the veggies just cooked up some more cabbage) and now it is gone. I carefully picked the carcass, turned bones into stock and froze the stock and the bits of carcass as that will make soup.
Well, that was a MSE flop for sure! I have no idea how anyone can make a chicken last, this one certainly was not and it was looking quite a generous one, marked as serving up to 8!
