I bought shorts for Mr Sl at the end of last summer too (in the end of season sale) - also Marks and Sparkles - and exactly the same styles are on sale this year in subtlely different shades of the same colours; that is a good thing, as his resumption of cheese munching, late at night means he is a size larger now! 🤔

Glad to hear that your heart condition isn't as originally feared.
I too have some issues with mine, picked up a couple of months back when I had a blood pressure check with seemingly very low pulse rate. I've been on holiday and am waiting on the cardiologist I saw privately to come up with a date for a CT scan. Not sure if he was waiting to find out if I survived my uninsured holiday, but I chased again yesterday as I've not heard anything from him…. So far, his only diagnosis is my heartrate is 'a bit odd'. That's not something that I can get travel insurance for… The wait times for the NHS are frustratingly long, so private it is for now.

Am super impressed by private cardiologist I've seen. I know I've paid (well VNM did) but I've had a call checking up on me and a follow up appointment arranged. At the call we discussed the pain in the arm and it seems it "can happen" and "should settle down" which was reassuring but ouch - it is jolly painful. However a lovely chat with a client has revealed that she is a homeopath and she has sent me an email with some suggestions for the pain as she wondered if it was nerve damage from the investigations. As paracetamol isn't touching the pain, and I'm not allowed anything else I shall call a homeopathic pharmacy later today and order her ideas.
I've no idea about how homeopathy really works, but many years ago saw one for migraines which I no longer have (so must have worked) and I had a cat treated by a homeopathic vet and the issue was resolved by the little "sugar pills" so I'm up for trying anything now.
She also asked if I would like to share my test results with her and she would make suggestions which was kind and I thought worth a try.

@Slinky maybe your cardiologist though the holiday would fix things 😀 Do follow up - the NHS wait times are just so long right now ….

If only…….
Had an echocardiogram, was then told I would need a routine followup, the wait time for which is 40 weeks in our area, hence private appointment with the same cardiologist who looked at my results and can't really explain them. He can't refer me for a NHS CT scan as I'd be jumping the queue, so hence the need to go private for that. I'm still on that 40 weeks NHS waiting list, and then the wait time for the scan is 4-5 months after that. Not a lot of help when it's invalidating holiday insurance. Got another holiday booked for later in the year. I've previously had a heart scan 12 years ago which I'd forgotten about, hence 'pre-existing condition' as far as the insurance company is concerned. Fortunately the holiday is Europe so at least the GHIC would give me some coverage, although not for a medical repatriation should the worst happen.

The NHS is broken. Those wait times are absolutely ridiculous for something as important as the heart.

Eventually one of those in government (don't care which party) is going to realise that there is no point in complaining about the numbers on sick if they can't get treatment. The longer people stay untreated the sicker they get & the less able to work they get. Treat them quickly & they cost less & are less likely to lose their jobs. It really is not rocket science.
