Well done to the actual horses for their PB win, and glad you have had some nice chill time and some nice out time, especially supporting and being part of the village

Have to say it does amaze me that it’s costs so much to train doctors and there is no contractual obligation for them to stay for even a minimum amount of time.

Indeed - us MSE types would train them with contracts for payback in place should they not stick with it for a specified number of years.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Not necessarily number of years - number of sessions. Otherwise you'll have people doing a couple of sessions a week for the NHS and the rest private (Holly Branson springs to mind - I'm not sure how much medicine she actually practised, but she's now running a very profitable healthcare business…). Mind you, we do also need to stop poaching medical staff from countries that need them more than we do - so maybe there should be places specifically funded for overseas students as part of overseas development funding and there should be the same requirement on them to work in their home country and prevent the NHS from poaching them for a specific time period.

Good suggestions there @greenbee
Went out with Charming Cob and a neighbour and her horse. CC lived up to his reputation and was very well behaved, finally giving in to the temptations of a munch on the hedgerows but mostly strolling along in his usual relaxed style. I'd been worried about riding as my right arm remains so painful and hand strength gone but VNM pointed out CC would look after me and we could always just turn around and come home. CC even remained beautifully behaved when his pal threw drama fits around when the high speed train came under the bridge as we were crossing it. I do love him for his calm laid back "I've got this" approach to life.
Came home to discover VNM had rummaged in the freezer and having had enough of my heart and health friendly diet is cooking us a brunch of sausages bacon eggs and beans with a few mushrooms as a token veg!
Apparently we can return to the usual plan tomorrow 😊

The problem with expecting doctors to serve a period in the NHS is that we now load them (& nurses) with so much debt, some are focusing on clearing that debt rather than their jobs.

The same can be said of most graduates now.

Very true but doctors land up with at least twice the debts of other graduates. Perhaps it is time those debts were forgiven in exchange for a set number of years in the NHS.

MSE MFW Party - we might not agree on everything but we have great ideas and would be very frugal in their delivery😀
Although on the subject of frugal I have purchased a new skirt. As in reallynew not new to me. It appeared on my doom scroll feed and I purchased. No real thought. I think I just felt really rubbish and it looked lovely - waiting for it to arrive - it might have to go back if it is not a really fabulous item 😊
