Healthcare professionals always have the tales of the worst things, add in that she's your friend and wants you to be well and you get painted a dreadful picture! Don't worry, you've caught the issue early and all will be okay, possibly blimmin inconvenient and a bit tiring, but you're practiced in that from dealing with planning permission etc 😁

this is a fair point. I've had a lot of stress and pressure, some of it self inflected, some of it life, some of it a determination to get myself on a good financial footing after PPH and it has led to me living life at a pace that is way too full on. I've been wondering for the last year why I cannot get up at 5.30 and ride before work like I used to 20 years ago. I think the obvious answer is I am older and very slowly my arteries have been getting blocked up.
The article KK sent me was a great read. I think a lot of the problems that were being put down to "hormones" and "depression" = all with good reason - were actually heart.
Still by the end of the week an answer will be clear and I will be on the way to recovery - but - VNM and I have had a chat about changes we need to make moving forwards. Most significantly not living at this very full on relentless pace.
That said I've got a full two days work before operation. I've cancelled all my calls for Wednesday and the following week giving me a week off from calls and will just allow the routine work of sales and so on to build up as I've been told I cannot even type with both hands (one finger typing will be ok apparently) for a week.

Glad the article was useful, I thought it might resonate.
I'm also pleased you have managed to arrange your time for being gentle with the workload now and next week.
I look forward to hearing about your new 'life' plans with VNM as they unfold … 💖

How very frustrating only to be allowed to type one-handed… but it's not for much longer and you will be out the other side.
Have you got some good audio books or similar to take the edge off the 'not doing'? Over on the Fashion on the Ration thread they are discussing classic detective books, you might pick up some ideas if that's a suitable distraction.
Cancelling calls sounds sensible: calls seem to keep the treadmill turning and there will be time for them later.

Have you read the Body Keeps the Score? Very interesting.
My dad's atrial fibrillation was only found during testing for a prostate procedure. It does make me wonder why they don't run tests on the mechanics before assuming hormones etc.
I too struggle with pressure/stress, I did find a podcast on the different types of rest very helpful. I wonder if you could enjoy different aspects of your interests while on physical timeout? Maybe horse video or artwork rather than rides? Rosa Bonheur horses are amazing.

The Body Keeps the Score is indeed very interesting, though there are some alarming cases not far in, so I think it's one of those to read with your head fixed firmly on 'I'm still here, and this doesn't happen to everyone'!
My thyroid condition was only found when I raised a family history of stroke while discussing something else…nowadays I just get bloods done once a year, keep taking the medicine, and have a better quality of life than I did twenty years ago. It's amazing what people live with, without being aware.

Horse video a great idea, thank you.
And Chelsea flower show opens today so I'm going to watch that too via the I player. I watch so little TV that this is quite exciting now I've started to think of things.

When I was off work with a broken arm, I watched an entire DVD set of To The Manor Born, very indulgent of me. If similar were to happen in the future, I think I'd search out The Irish RM (can you tell I'm a fan of Peter Bowles?).
I think I'll look up Rosa Bonheur. 😊ETA and having done so, thanks to @WelshmansDaughter for the recommendation! There's also Munnings, whom I took to straight away.

I read a very enjoyable biography of Rosa Bonheur by Catherine Hewitt if anyone is interested.
I would also recommend extraordinary portraits to watch on BBC. Very moving.
