The lovely dog of a family member has a doggie life jacket with a handle. He's a good swimmer and loves the water but they canoe in the summer with doggo in the canoe as lookout and can hoik him back via the handle if he were to fall in. No hoiking for Wattydog of course.5

You're definitely doing the right thing taking it one step at a time, but don't be put off by my constant tantrums 😁 It would be somewhat infuriating rather than breakdown inducing if we weren't dependent on it to have somewhere to live, and you have somewhere to live so that is three quarters of the stress already dealt with! ah but your thread is enough to put anyone off the actual "doing". At this point I'm just going for planning and keeping to my one step at a time view of this. I am spending (investing?) on this, but, if I get it, it should increase the value of that bit of land and this was one of my "ifs and maybes" to right the money lost on PPH.PennysIntoPounds said:P.S. excellent work on the build progress, very impressed 🥂https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6466032/an-in-between-phase/p1

Thanks. I'm looking at my project as a gamble. It might pay off or I might lose the money but the odds are in my favour. I try only to think about one bit at a time.PennysIntoPounds said:

Last night was spent researching drainage options for the plan. We are over 90 metres from the main sewer and so to join it might be expensive and requires a pump to pump uphill so the planning consultant is to do some research to see how the local authority might react to a bacterial sewage treatment tank on site.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I love this. What a lovely life for that dog.teapot2 said:The lovely dog of a family member has a doggie life jacket with a handle. WattyDog always use to research carefully the slope of a bank and never went in unless he was sure he could get back out without assistance. The handle will be to stop him turning to quickly or taking off after a stick. WattyDog is a better swimmer than me however so it might not work but I so want him to be able to continue to have fun. His life adventures are just different now, as all of ours will be in our later life.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

A big thank you to whoever took on board the comments about appearing busy when cleaner arrived and passed message on to a non English speaking client who rang 4 mins after she arrived and thus made it clear I worked

I have really made a mess of timings today. Cleaner, Farrier, Counselling, Supermarket delivery. No way could I fit all that in so i moved the counselling session to a phone/zoom one which will save the driving. And tbh I'm struggling to get out and drive in the rain so better for me. It has rained here for days now, the road outside my office window looks like a small river.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I don't recognise "bacterial sewerage system" but here, there are five houses that share an anaerobic system - I think all anaerobic (no oxygen) systems are bacterial, using bacteria that do not need oxygen to thrive. Whereas an aerobic system uses bacteria that need oxygen. My (limited, probably out of date) understanding is that anaerobic systems are passive but aerobic are not. IE Aerobic need emptying. While an anaerobic system sounds attractive, it needs a certain volume of err, material, to feed on and they are not suitable for fewer than a critical number of households/householders.Save £12k in 2026 #2 I have banked £2870.61 so far, against a £10k target The 2026 Save £12k in 2026 thread is here

I suggested appearing busy on a phone call or zoom when she arrives first few times so if it was that... you're welcome 😊

It worked beautifully today. And it is a relief to have a hovered house. She has begun washing skirting boards too and exclaimed the house was clean (maybe she needs glassesdaisy_1571 said:I suggested appearing busy on a phone call or zoom when she arrives first few times so if it was that... you're welcome 😊

Next week I will focus a little more but so far I'm happy as the place had not been hoovered since Christmas so that must have taken time - and she has washed the kitchen floor. Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Clean is relative Watty. Chances are she has to deal with some really filthy places, so dog hair, dust and a bit of mud are probably not an issue. If you don’t have mould, unwashed dishes, and decomposing food everywhere and have done the occasional load of laundry you are way ahead of a lot of people!7
