Watty's Awakening

Glad your water is back Watty.
We don't have a mains supply at our yard, but usually collect enough rainwater to see us through. However this year has been so dry that we ran out about 4 weeks ago. Luckily we have river frontage so have been extracting water from the river once a week to top up an IBC container and using water sterilising tablets to ensure it's safe for the horses. My three get through 1,000 litres in 10-12 days when it's hot!
"It’s all about balance, do you see? Balance is the trick. Keep the balance and—” She stopped. “You’ve ridden on a seesaw? One end goes up, one end goes down. But the bit in the middle, right in the middle, that stays where it is. Upness and downness go right through it. Don’t matter how high or low the ends go, it keeps the balance.”4 -
I used to have a field that I took water to daily for one of mine when on livery, I used to fill containers and drive across one field to get to the field that needed the water, that was bad enough p pulling water out of the river sounds such hard work.
Remind me I said this when winter comes, but, I just want rain and lots of it.

Work is quiet so painting the outside of the house has begun. I used AI to run some options through which I had wondered about and that turned out to be a really good plan as now the windows, sills and door will all match in a lovely dark grey which looks lovely against the old bricks and new drive. Think should take us the rest of this week to finish this. Then VNM plans to make a parcel box. I had found one to buy - but - it won't work if I keep the business as I need one people can collect from as well as deliver into so that will be next week's job. Then just finishing jobs like respraying door handle and gate handle and so on and refurbishing the cottage sign.
I'm so excited to see the transformation. I had dithered about the outside for so long and it is really coming together now.

Half way through the week. Face still hurts from temporary crown which I think might be too high but I'm going to leave it as I'm back for the final one next week and another filling to be replaced so a few more painkillers. I know dentist will say I should have gone back but it is a very long round trip and I'm just too exhausted to consider doing that right now.
Had wanted to get up early to see the two planets crossing the sky this morning but failed to hear the alarm. Will however plan to spend some of this evening at the highest point in the field to see some of the meteor shower if possible. Simple pleasures that are free.

Another positive update. Fell pony person doing nothing with fell pony and yet still says she wants him on loan but I have been assertive and got someone in - a lovely professional - she can only make it once a week but she has now been a few times and concluded Fell Pony absolutely has no idea what is expected of him and is entirely grumpy and very fed up.
She likes him and refers to him as the best "grumpy old man there is" usually with a kiss on his nose which makes me smile because she is a hard horse woman in her 50s LOL She thinks he has been broken to drive because he understands all the commands and basic aids for being driven. She has yet to ask him to pull anything although I did say I would look out a log for her to try with. As she lives very locally she is very inexpensive for the sessions and I have said if he can't be ridden because he just hates it then I'm ok with that he can stay as a companion but if he can be ridden it would be good for his CV if he were properly trained. (Since my colleague died so unexpectedly I am aware I need to have proper plans in place, not just a will but proper plans)
