    One of the things I try to remember is that the washing just needs to be done before the next visitors, not immediately after the current ones leave! While I do use the TD (I got a heat pump one not long after moving here to avoid making another hole in the wall, and sold the old one), I tend to save laundry for when there's good solar/cheap agile pricing - so if you're not sure whether you wan to invest in a dehumidfier/TD before you have your plan properly in place, maybe consider a bigger laundry bin ;)

    If the house is cold it could be that it has an element of dampness, that makes anywhere feel colder than it is.  Drying it out will definitely make it feel warmer

    Another thought... but depending on your timescales, would solar/batteries be worthwhile given you appear to have a lot of roof available? Prices are pretty good at the moment and I now make more income from solar than I spend on import by some considerable margin.
