Watty's Awakening

I love this image, the reality is some of the fairy lights hung over all the barns and stables have stopped working due to a loose connection that VNM is going to fix; the Fell Pony has eaten part of the wreath because he will eat anything and everything, WattyDog wants to haul a Yule Log but is making do with sticks at the moment because his bad back means I will not permit anything other than small sticks and Most Handsome would probably be scared of glitter smudged on his noseCherryfudge said:t. I do like the thought of fairy lights on the stable, though. I picture you as already living in a kind of Christmas card (glitter-glue sparkles across the snowy, grey landscape, MH's head over the stable door with a smudge of mis-placed glitter glue on his nose, that Aga where you make massive Kentish apple pies just visible through the door out of which you have emerged (lumpily swathed in farmer's wife-type waterproofs, wellies and scarf) to feed the chickens which have, I suspect, been hired for the photoshoot. The VNM, for some reason, has donned wellies and is climbing into a tractor off stage right, probably to haul a Yule log and branches of holly.
He once objected so strongly to a tinsel necklace I thought I might fall off
Oh and the chickens along with Geraldine the goat belong next door and refuse to go home until WattyDog appears
The fairy lights are lovely though

The above made me laugh out loud, especially the edible wreath.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

On a more serious note, the fear comment is correct. Whilst I would love to tell some customers what I think, I am self employed, their business keeps my company going and it is my company that boosts my pension pot and allows me to recover from the financial damage of PPH.
So I smile, placate, am nice and do the best I can. And I remind myself of my goal - you remember - the one that was to make a million by the end of the year. Such an outrageous goal but it does make me smile and maybe I worked harder this year because of it . (I am no where near by the way - it might have to be 2026 goal now)Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I love both the idyllic image and the more Thelwell version - and that your neighbour's goat is named after the one in The Good Life!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

I've called auto renew policies and got a refund. They annoy the heck out of me. I'll ask nicely for my refund and if they don't give it to me (they usually do) I'll start being not so nice until I get it. I've never been charged.
On Xmas....mine has got gradually less and less over the years. I used to have huge Christmases coming from a big Catholic family who celebrate big style. And I kind of carried it on with my first. I was still living close to the family then. As I moved away further and further afield I've visited the family less and less and my Christmas has become less and less. It's now about trees, twinkles on a dark night and presents and a slap up meal with those who are closest to me. And I'm not sorry either 😁. I think it is a case of what greying said. You do you!Emergency Fund- £717.778 -

Now the VNM liked that property @Cherryfudge For a surprising reason, the roads were all nice and flat for his motorbikes
The house is nice too, no fussy bits, a pantry and a utility room and it is next to an equestrian centre. Lots of pluses there!

Lovely evening out with two pals last night, local church has a social choir (as opposed to the Sunday choir) which is about fun and they put on a concert last night of Christmas songs, not carols, just songs and poems which was joyous. Tickets were £5 and are used to raise money for the church, interval included a mince pie and cup of tea or mulled wine and it was lovely to see the church so full. I thought back to 150 years ago when the church would be like that all the time. How things change.
Finished the evening in the pub for a glass of fizz then to the chip shop which was just closing. Not cooking and I had already eaten but did come home with the remaining chips - a tiny portion for £2 -which I shared with VNM.
Simple, unfussy fun. Today, some work, tackle "the list" of outstanding stuff, and make some broccoli soup as there is a head of broccoli that needs using up.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
