Watty's Awakening

I make a point of saying good morning/afternoon to people in the street. Easy to do in a small town, people would think you are mad in the city. Most people acknowledge me, those that don't I put down to having a difficult day. There are a lot of older people here I sometimes wonder if I may be the only person that says anything to them in a day.

Great comments from everyone as always. Thank you. Each of you help more than you will probably realise.
Finally at work this morning by 10 am after a massive tidy up for the cleaner who comes Monday mornings. I didn't realise how bad the place was, although at some level I think I did because I wrote the state of the place on my list of what was wrong. Everything is tidy now and E will clean the place and order will be restored.
A good reminder about SAD. I've put a SAD lamp on this morning. It has been so rainy and dark lately and I've not been using it so I've put that on my tracker (a list of things to tick off in my planner) as well as water, meditation and alcohol free. Those 4 things might help and I've made an appointment to see doctor for later in the month.
(I'm not going alcohol free but I think tracking the days I am alcohol free might focus me on choosing to drink rather than habit).
I love the smiling tip. I work from home and don't really see people unless I catch up with friends of the VNM. I wonder if at the end of a long winter that might be an issue for me to look at too, especially as everything I had planned for last week cancelled off due to the rain.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Catching up on here and sending you a virtual hug and a ‘you are winning Watty’
you have a paid for home inc land for your horses (you know livery even diy for 3 horses is better spent in your company pension !)
plus 2 months buffer and zero cc ..
I get the nervousness but you are in recovery and rereading that court case - wow - you really went thru some trauma so you are allowed some moments of doubt
On days you are not seeing people maybe make a call to chat to a friend
I found Jan v difficult but despite weather in Feb I went out a lot more and saw friends and it really helped my moodDo you do morning pages /journalling every day ?Also I have found YNAB despite my previous budgeting prowess really helps with the calm destress on money - which might really help you have another layer of calm - yes I feel YNAB poor as my money is allocated in pots but it’s good to know I am fine and will be fine and there is money saved
they do a 34 day trial and I would suggest watching Nick True YouTube mapped out money on 2022 setting ynab up - I literally just paused his video on/off and set it up as I watchedDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

I think that was a good point about "running away" @ajmoney
Whilst I couldn't sleep last night i downloaded a budget calculator and put my costs in. Ah hem. I will not be sharing anytime soon but I'm sure you all know where the money goes! Everything else looks very frugal to me.
I'm also tired and having trouble sleeping and wondered if I am cold at night so I've added a blanket and am off to get the washing in (I foolishly hoped it would dry outside as it was not raining but no sun and no wind so it stayed damp) and give the horses their hay and bed for us all.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Have you got a hot water bottle Watty? I've started putting one in our bed and it makes a great difference having warm feet. Cold feet keep me awake.

I love hot water bottles and also microwave heat packs.
They aren't necessarily cheap but getting a weighted blanket was great for helping me sleep.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

I don't actually have a hot water bottle. I will put that on the list of things to buy.
I do however have an electric blanket so last night I left it on at the lowest setting for 9 hours. Normally it is just used for 10 mins at the most to create a warm bed (well half bed as it is only on the side I sleep) as a contrast to the contrast of the cold on the yard when i do the horses late at night. I slept for nearly 11 hours. The VNM was here and I woke briefly when he left at around 5.00 am and clearly thought I would get up when the doorbell rang with a stationery delivery for work at 8.30!
I can't report feeling fabulous for the sleep but I have had breakfast and am now off to turn the horses out (the VNM gave them their breakfasts early).
