In other, more MSE news, neighbour let me fill her huge bin and that has all gone so I have cleared another two shelves and have yet more scrap metal to go. I will leave outside, I have a few things for sale which if not gone by the weekend I will give away and have something to be collected this weekend.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I don't think the administrator is going to progress from strength to strength if she's so defensive.
You are better moving on.
Nice to get rid of so much random rubbish in one go! I hope the 'wheels lad' comes past and collects some more!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Sadly I didn't think to get the number of the young boy who wanted to "make things" before but he must be within walking distance so hopefully he will see it and can take anything he wants. (I do smile imagining his mum with assorted metal stuff turning up).
Cleared two more shelves in my tack room/garden shed room. No great finds, more stuff "i have no idea what this is" so that will go. Hopefully can fill neighbours bin again before collected.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Lovely day yesterday, we stopped whilst out at a antique shop and cafe. It was just the most delightful place, in my mind I bought a vintage quilt, a ships decanter, two candlesticks, a picture frame, a large farmhouse jug and a china bucket and a lot of galvanised buckets for the garden, oh and a weather vane.
VNM could not stop laughing. He said I'd think it all clutter when I got home and sell it again which was funny, and anyway I'm moving so obviously not buying anything but had a lovely home made piece of cake and a pot of tea and sat in their charming garden where all the tables and chairs were for sale and so was everything not actually planted. Just charming. Would stop there again for sure.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Then finished the day with a drop in at the "event" to look at the plans for the housing village to be built in my hamlet. Honestly horrific. by 2048 the fields surrounding mine will be covered with housing. However, I will be an old lady by then but adopted a pragmatic approach. Pointed out to the landscapers for the site that they had considered walkers and cyclists but no mention of equine routes. I then showed them where I live and highlighted where horses currently live and pointed out that none of that land was earmarked for building and that each of their "routes for rural users" would be lovely for horses if they made them wider and that forcing the 30 horses I had highlighted on the roads was a considerable safety issue and not in the "spirit" of what they were creating. (Between you and I most of those 30 are retired but lets not get too detailed).
Then, with permission, I took a marker pen and drew the routes that are yet to go on the definitive map because the parish council have objected to them. I was asked about the objections from the parish council and said that the landowner was (a) on the council and (b) gave each fellow member half a sheep as a gift at Christmas. Keeping a sense of humour I asked the lady from the developer is she too was getting a Christmas gift as her organisation had objected. (She burst out laughing, and agreed the historical evidence is excellent and they will lose at appeal so might as well put the routes on now).
Everyone I spoke to agreed that they 'could do better' and whilst this might not improve things for me as this is a long term, it might benefit future residents.
Then, I overheard something the VNM said which triggered a thought. He was talking to someone about the blight on current houses which are now difficult to sell in the area and whether the developers have considered this, and, with this in mind I asked who the local council person was and gradually worked my way up the chain of command. Finding the right person, I sat her down and said , I wanted to know why planning had rejected my request to develop my barn when the view from the window would be, in time, 1000 houses - and - the rejection was based on "no new builds in the countryside. She faffed a bit, but, I calmly responded and then said, my land is blighted, no one will want to buy an equestrian property in this nightmare, but I don't want a large 3 bedroom house, is there a deal to be done? I want a small property on the land and to sell the house. She agreed they could consider my situation, gave me her details and I will follow up.
Now, I don't want to live in the area, I want lovely hacking from my doorstep, but, if I could develop the barn in someway this might bring me closer to retirement. It is a very small glimmer, but one I will see if I can work with.

Interesting ….
Well done on challenging their lack of horse routes. And very well done on challenging the fact that your application was turned down! I hope it leads to something more positive for you 🤞

The planning meeting sounds like time well spent. I hope your comments are taken on board and your planning application is reconsidered.
And well done on getting rid of so much stuff. Keep going with getting rid of the junk and it'll make it easier to sort the not-junk later.3 -
I know people have to live somewhere, but sometimes when you can see what's coming, it's best to up and move to somewhere where you didn't know what it was like in the past and you accept how it is now. That's what we did with the ever increasing creep of Milton Keynes into the village I had lived in a lot of my life. We decided it was becoming too busy and that we didn't want to be there when we retired. In our 50s we were young enough to start again somewhere we didn't know anyone and so moved to Suffolk 6 years ago. Where we live now, a very pleasant market town, the old timers moan about all the changes but we just see it for how it is now - as did the people who bought our old house. There's a very small chance of some infill properties on some amenity land that borders our garden, but highly unlikely. It would most likely be old people's bungalows. Anywhere else in the town that could have had any big development is already developed, or known about, so it shouldn't change too much in ways that affect us.Make £2025 in 2025

You made excellent use of those opportunities! I hope they bear fruit. We've had a lot of new building nearby and I don't object as it's made homes available to many, including our son and his family, but there are some thoughtless mistakes: properties for people with disabilities are at the top of a slope when they could have been at the bottom, dropped kerbs don't always have a corresponding 'up' nearby, lots of properties have been added to existing infrastructure without full consideration of how it will cope...
I love that you've been able to add bridle paths to their map!
