More UK Networks palaver. I easily see why people just don't claim or dont get paid and give up. I finally suggested they either (a) pay me - or (b) remove their equipment. They came back to say that if they remove the equipment I will be disconnected from the network as their equipment supplies my property and others locally and so will have to pay a connection charge (circa £2000)
Hmmm.. So it would seem this is a no win situation. After yet more faffing we have agreed I will (finally) be paid direct into my bank account within "a few days"
I really think I should just have sent the blooming cheques to one of you lot. I cannot bear to think how much time has been wasted on this - and - as yet - no cash in bank.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Get some solar panels installed, and a battery, and get yourself set up off grid Watty, then tell them to get lost
If they want to connect the other properties they'll have to find somewhere else to put the equipment. Is there any way you could sell them that piece of land/access without it impacting on the rest of the property?

A lovely idea @greenbee but one of the cables is buried and runs through the middle. I'm not really fussed either way it became more the principle that it was so difficult to sort out.
I would happily go off grid but with plans to move not economic and, as I am planning to move, I really need to sort the payment out or it will remain there The land has the overage agreement with ex, so, I wont be selling it so I thought I would sort it out and again I realise why people just give up!Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Off grid isn't really a serious option for most people. There's way more to it than shoving up some solar panels and a battery. There's not enough sun in the winter to generate enough to live on unless you want to live a seriously frugal life watching what you use unless you have a massive amount of panels which are going to be a big expense. If it snows any great amount you'll get nothing at all, then you'll be relying on a generator or candles!Make £2025 in 2025

Hospital yesterday for 'investigations' and two small whatsits found that need removing under a general anaesthetic but feel reassured this is not too serious.
So full of praise for the hospital team, so kind, so professional just delightful. Charming, laughing, reassuring and kind. Positive experience.
The consultant was lovely and told me to change my GP. She was appalled I had been going private for HRT for years and suggested I ask for a referral to the HRT clinic at the hospital. I mentioned private doctors latest idea (that I try T3 rather than usual meds for thyroid and she suggested I try that via a private prescription then ask for a referral when I have a test to prove it works as that drug is harder to get on NHS but doable with evidence)
Pre-op assessment booked for Monday.

That all sounds like a very constructive day with lots of useful guidance. Loads of good wishes for the op: the sooner it's out of the way, the sooner you can move on (only do allow yourself some recovery time!)I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

Hospital phoned with a date for op so need to juggle work plans over the weekend to get that day and subsequent days off. Have put on to do list for the weekend along with sorting out bridle for CC and buying new stirrup leathers if I cant find any to replace current ones.
And drawer dividers. I did not know such things existed but went out to dinner last night with a friend and she showed me photos of her drawers all sorted with dividers and now I MUST HAVE. I thought I was doing well with Kondo style folding and cardboard boxes but the dividers were next level
Friend is staying with another friend for the weekend so I said I would take them out for dinner as I could not invite them here as the local pal has a dog that cannot be left without a sitter as gets anxious and destructive but is not allowed to mix with WattyDog (on account of his boisterous nature it seems) . Might have been cheaper to pay for the sitter as we had two bottles of wine and 2 courses with soft drinks and coffee. I said I would pay and invited the VNM too as he knows both of them and we had a great evening. He then picked up the bill which I've discussed with him as whilst it was kind, it wasn't really my intention that he would pay,
It was however very generous but if such a thing happens again I will ask him to use the card for the account he pays some cash into to help with the bills.

Dropped the screwdriver I use to open the barn door and on bending to pick it up i found a birds nest with 3 little baby birds chirping with mouth open. They are tiny. A blackbird was hoping around close by so I assume that is mum. What a daft place to nest, it is only 3 feet off the ground and in my wood storage area by the side door to the barn.
I'm worried about WattyDog, the fox that hangs around and the local cats. Hoping the local cats are seen off by WattyDog and I've used a sheep hurdle to block off the woodpile they are nesting in so WattyDog cannot get there by himself. I'm worried about the babies so fingers crossed they make it.
In other delightful bird news the swifts are back in Charming Cob's stable. They have however nested on to of the light so I'm worried about using it in case it heats up. I don't have another light like that so I cannot check but I spent a lovely hour with a coffee watching the birds swoop in and out.
