Now that I do love @daisy_1571
Was out with village girls on Sunday, 3 of us went to the local art show then had a cup of tea and cake in the little pop up for the art show tent. The others wanted to go to one of the village cafes but I declined on the basis that the place has gone downhill, the staff are mostly rude and the final insult is that they have plastic flowers on the tables - the little pop up tent had a mix of wooden tables and chairs and jam jars filled with wild flowers. They needed support
The girls said they would miss me if I left. And I would indeed miss them, but I still want to leave. One of them asked if I was running away from the trauma of the past, and, maybe I am but I am also clear on what I want from my front door and said I would stay in the area if the right property came up - but looking at what you are all finding there is a world of opportunities beyond the south east
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

One of my girlfriends is being made redundant from her main job - she has another one day a week - but the loss of this one will hit her hard. We discussed options over cups of tea and cake, and I was, I admit, surprised. I think I have hung out on here for so long that emergency funds, a back up plan, options are things we all have filed in our brains.
To be with someone who knew the writing was on the wall potentially a year ago, has continued to spend, has credit card debt and a huge mortgage, well, I was anxious for her. I understood flying to see her daughter in New Zealand as she misses her but the designer kitchen I could not make sense of. She has previously not been understanding of my weekend working to create my course and all I do outside of the Monday to Friday 9 to 5 and it struck me how different "us lot" are to "others" I'm laughing of course. What seems normal to us is clearly not normal to others.

@Watty1 your post has got me thinking about parallels between 'eating your feelings' ie overeating to suppress anxiety (but it never works) when you want to lose weight for medical reasons and overspending when you know that hard times are coming. Is it an example of magical thinking? Gosh, what did you say to spendy friend? Were you a shoulder to cry on or was it appropriate to offer any advice? Sounds like quite the hole...love Humdinger xx4

Well I guess we all are individuals. I'm just glad I'm not 'odd' in that way!

Your responses to things you find that PPH left are so different now. Sometimes there is only so much you can do before a change of location/job/situation is the last piece of the jigsaw.Deep down only you know what is right so trust that feeling.

It doesn't sound to me as though you're running away - rather, you've reached a position where you can see what matters to you and why, and you're working to get to that place.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I can understand her asking the question, but it is clear that you have dealt with that. She hasn't been reading what we have & I suspect you have said much less in real life than on here as most of us tend to do about the hard bits.6

Sorry, I must have lost a post. Id agree, if you were unthinkingly running away I think it would have been closer to the break up. By this stage its a considered move with thought about the facts of the situation. It was certainly a valid point to bring up to ensure you are thinking clearly but it doesn't sound ill considered to me
