Suffolk_lass said:I was wondering if you have an old butler style sink that could be deployed by a door to the house and have quick growing salad leaves, spinach and radish seeds sprinkled, so you can snip and pull them for your salads, It is honestly, so uplifting for me, to pick and munch as I weed, and top up a basic iceberg lettuce with my own snippings. It's also why I grow mini cucumbers - better quality than the SM ones and so lovely. Now is the time to think about these (a bit of protection is you don't have a greenhouse, you can germinate indoors in a little propagator) - we have mini munch and mini crisp indoors, full sized Marketmore and (heritage little tennis ball sized yellow) Crystal Lemon outdoors. Very easy and very satisfying.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I was going to say that with dogs, raised planters are a good idea for salad and herbs.3

Hanging basket tomatoes, perhaps? Unless Watty Dog really is as big as has been suggested...I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I used to have a lot of planters and pots on the patio. WattyDog's enthusiasm for life has broken them all. I now have a few old galvanised buckets that I found when clearing PPH's dads place. Galvanised buckets make great planters that don't break if WattyDog has them over and the odd dent just adds to the character. The funny thing is my sister thought they were a great "style statement" and decided she wanted some for her tiny side garden. Apparently, old buckets are really 'sought after' which is quite funny as mine were just to repot plants from planters that WattyDog had 'seen off'' They all have plants I want to save in but I have asked the VNM to check his mothers sheds for some as she kept so much clutter it is just possible some are there and a few more would be nice back-ups although I really do have concerns about WattyDog cocking a leg against oneMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

April 1st. I am determined to have a better month. Acupuncture and massage yesterday and I really feel as if I've been through the wringer, but, the persistent neck pain and headache has gone to be replaced by a general all over ache. Lovely lady said she was happy to fit me in anytime in the next couple of weeks and just drop her a message if there is no availability on her online booking system as she thinks I will need a follow up.
Hopefully the general aches will pass. The sun is shining I've dusted off my journal and I'm going to really focus. Someone sent me a list of gratitude prompts for April. Today's is "the best thing that has happened so far this year" - that one is easy Charming Cob being sound enough to continue gently riding.

actually when I thought about it there are a few other " best things" which are MSE MFW related (well in my case building the pots) and they are fabulous course sales and being able to pay into pension pots and starting the ball rolling to leave a voluntary role that no longer brings joy.

Todays gratitude was to think of the kindest thing someone did for me. I'm grateful every day for the cheer leading on here but I think the kindest thing was someone I did not know well offering to come to court with me. She gave up a day's work and pay to come.
Thinking about that made me think of giving out kindness. A nice idea, one to focus on too rather than how low my mood has been.
The acupuncture and massage helped with mood but I still have a lot of aches and the headache is back so I have made an appointment with an osteopath for next week.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

That was a wonderful piece of kindness, and it's obviously stayed with you.
The 'giving out of kindness' reminds me that giving is one of the things the NHS recommends towards mental health, and there's no reason we should limit it to financial giving. Even giving a moment's attention or a cheerful word can make a difference, and that goes both ways - to the other person, and back to ourselves. So thank you for that one - one for me to focus on too.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

hope you drunk plenty water after your massage acupuncture sessions watty.
I used to explain it like a still pond, when you look in you can see through the water to the bottom. Thats the state of your body before the intervention, lots of silt and 'things' down there but on the surface and so far down its all fine, you are coping. A massage (and I imagine acupuncture) is like taking a stick and swirling the water. All that silt at the bottom gets lifted up and is in the water. That's all the waste products and emotions that have been stored in your muscles. Now they are all out 'n' about, in your body. Lots of water and a bit of rest before resuming normal life helps get them out your body in the natural way. Canine massage therapists get taught this but it doesn't seem to be something human practitioners mention, I've certainly never had one mention it to me, I've been the one telling them so hopefully it helps them in their work with future clients.
Emotions get stored within our body and these natural ways release not only the physical tensions in tight muscles but the emotions that we were having at the point we tensed or injured ourselves. Sometimes people can have really deep profound deep overwhelming feelings come up at or after sessions. Stuff they thought they were over.
Feel your way through, be aware they are coming before your next sessions, let them go naturally out the body. Its all good.

Very wise Daisy
well done on your pension pot Watty and seeing how far you have comeDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.
