I hope you're proper proud and excited about this:
'I close this year with savings, real savings. I started heavily in debt on my CC but I've paid off everything to do with PPH and the house and I've found enough money to do a lot of renovations'
That, is bloody brilliant 👏
As important, on reflection, there were very very few unnecessary spends too which I am proud of too.Watty1 said:Cherryfudge said:You've come an amazingly long way @Watty1. Be proud of yourself!
It's a good idea to have some meals you can just dip into without having to feel in the mood to eat or cook. I hope the VNM's mother is comfortable.
Happy 2025. Hopefully you have given yourself a platform for growth both business wise with your new training offering and personally with your home improvements, relationship with VNM and more importantly listening to and accepting yourself and meeting your own needs.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Thank you for the kind words.
Lamb curry in slow cooker. Very simple and I'll add some left over tomatoes and frozen spinach nearer the meal time. Breakfast and stables done now going to work. I'd like to clear up and catch up on outstanding stuff today.
I recognised a big stressor yesterday which is people wanting to book call times with me so I'm going to readjust my calendar and them simply say they must book the next available slot. Electricity being cut off to the office a couple of times due to work so I need to cancel all the appointments for those days so this is prompting an overhaul which fits with the January goal of planning out how the year will work. Appointment with accountant also made.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!12 -
In fun stuff £3 charity shop jigsaw puzzle for me and the VNM to do over the holiday season has been an epic fail. Feral kitten (7 year old cat to be truthful) loves jigsaw pieces and has spent many a happy time batting them to the floor. We have laughed so much at her happily playing that I've suggested it was a £3 cat toy instead and we have now given up as there is no way it can be completed with her assistance. Perhaps not an epic fail. We have laughed a lot.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Loving the idea of FK ‘helping’ so much with the jigsaw that it had to be abandoned! Brilliant 🤩 😊❤️😂
Well done on recognising a stressor and putting an action in place for it. There’s something about this time of year that allows things to arise for us 😊
KKAs at 15.08.25:
- When bought house £315,995 mortgage debt and end date at start = October 2039 - now £232,244

Fixed rate 3.85% ends October 2030
Read 42 books of target 52 in 2025, as @ 9th August

When I had my business I used a brilliant (free) calendar booking system that I programmed free slots each week. I then just used to send the link to people and they could book a time that was suitable for them and t popped into my diary. Then sent reminders to both of us.I will try and remember the name ……

Loving the jigsaw reinvention:)
that slow cook lamb sounds lovely - will see what warming stew I can cook upDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Now it is tidied up (and I should have got my PA to do it as she is more detail orientated than me) I think it will work better and I will stick to the line that if I am not available on there then simply I am not available. It will be good practice for me to set a boundary.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Been feeling a bit down and tearful today, but, on the plus side I have stuck at my desk and I close the working day with things nicely up to date and a project list for January. Phew!Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Well done you. Have a cosy evening x4

You have, and have had, so much to cope with. Perhaps tears are the right thing to release a bit of tension?
Well done for sticking with the desk work and getting it done, complete with plans for the future.
I hope the new year brings more good things and I expect it will, overshadowed though it is at present. This too will pass.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
