Watty's Awakening

Great perspective @KajiKita and @badmemory. Having had a father I would never have relied on let alone asked to do anything I had not thought of that so that was super helpful.
Once I read your thoughts I thought oh yes, of course, she probably has no idea he is not at the top of his game and overwhelmed by everything. I will leave her car for now having gently said can a plan be made.
As for WattyDog's car for that is how I really think of it, I called the insurance company and asked why I had not heard, got an apology and said the engineer's assessments were very behind but I should have a call tomorrow, so, in progress. Sad as WattyDog and I like the car but it is inevitable it will be a total loss.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!8 -
That's a shame about the car. I know it would have been worse had the VNM been injured (was he checked over?) but it sounds as though you are feeling the loss.
Perhaps involve WattyDog in choosing your next car, so he can identify with it.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Had a complete meltdown this morning and sobbed into the Charming Cob's mane. I think the last week has overwhelmed me. Very behind at work and everything just seemed to much to cope with.
Also, I seem to have spent £350 on some secondhand jumps and poles which now need collecting. It seemed a good idea at the time - which just shows how addled my mind must have been.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

You have been so strong and kind for VNM and his mother whilst still recovering yourself.

WattyDog has my sympathy - both on the car sickness and the exploring cafes! I wonder if he does better with diesel than petrol, as I do?
It's hardly surprising all the stress translated into tears. I hope the VNM's mum soon settles into her new situation and you and the VNM can begin to relax, but in the meantime be gentle on yourself. Aren't animals just the best listeners? And I'm sure the jumps and poles will get good use and be fun for both you and the horses. Possibly for WattyDog too. (I have to stop myself putting @ WattyDog - does he read these pages?)I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
