Aldi must be wondering what the heck is happening in that workplace that they all need so much paracetemol........I just missed out on a very good breadmaker in what looked like near mint condition despite being a very old model (prior to the one I used to own many years ago), so will have to keep my eyes open and respond quicker next time. Tiring looking after Most Handsome but he is still rather fun. He exploded out of his stable, trotted round the yard then looked balefully at me carefully lifting his feet because they hurt. I gave him a hug and said they would hurt if he behaved daftly. I'm not sure he understood.
Popped to the library yesterday and stopped at the church for a cup of tea and cake just to be out of the house for a while then into the charity shop and bought for 50p a vegan cookbook. I'm not a vegan but it looks fabulous. I spent a happy hour yesterday marking all the ones I want to try.
Today after clearing the yard I need to do some work and finish doing a course on copyright (useful CPD) and then write a summary of my modules for the course. I've been approved as a CPD provider by the professional body now I just need to get the course certified and I will be ready to go with it (when the slides are finished). I decided professional body CPD approval would make it more attractive to purchases so have been following up on that.

I am enjoying how Most Handsome is clearly blaming you for his sore feet! 😊😂😉 Hope his recovery is a swift one, for both you sakes. 😊
I love reading recipe books too 😊 I will be interested to hear which ones you enjoy.
Great progress on the course. I think you are right to go for the external endorsement. 😊

Nearly 3 am. I've been awake since midnight for due to the winds. Nipped out and picked up the milk bottles that were blowing around the front door to save broken glass in the morning.
Didn't get anywhere near as much done as I hoped Sunday but there is always the week ahead. Rode the Charming Cob round the lanes and was sad to see a house being cleared. The chickens went about a month ago and the old man who lived there had been getting frailer. I regularly used to stop and briefly chat when he was outside and then that graduated to just waving as he sat by his window but recently he has been propped up and careers popping in and although I waved he had stopped waving back. Not sure if he has gone into a home or passed on but so sad to see the lack of ceremony around clearing the house. There were so few things too.
It made me want to continue the declutter though. I'm at 25/365 and the easy wins are done (like my wardrobe as it is often done and bits to the food bank and the easy kitchen cupboards.
I think the ex cleared stuff and then put junk back so it looked as if some places had not been touched. One cupboard had some wrapping bags with holes in and bits of wood with a roll of bin liners in front. The cupboard looked stuffed but i did giggle when I saw what was really in there.
I decluttered the feed room on the yard and as always am struck by how much accumulates in there. BabyFell broke a few pots I had put aside for recycling by attempting to eat them and I realised I have a rat problem again so will call the pest control chap in the week. Not a surprise given the weather but another thing to do.
Sounds like the wind is dying down a bit. Hope the fences and trees have withstood it.

That really was the darkest hour before dawn last night. Still unable to sleep I began to question my choices, why decided to buy the house, why I even left, why I have horses, how I was going to manage with x and y and so on, how I would ever afford my life. The wind continued to howl and I felt more and more despair.
This morning I have had a shower, am wearing clean clothes, have tied my hair back and all the animals are fed and all the new fencing has remained up as has the older fencing. The only casualty is the goal next door which has blow into the field. It has been behind the barn for weeks anyway waiting for them to retrieve it. I will wrestle with it over the fence later. Later today I will also ring the pest control chap and ask him to sort out where the rat boxes need to go to be effective. Next door has a lot of chickens and I have horses so rats are inevitable and it has been so cold of course they came into the barns here.
Yes I am still questioning my life choices but I'm reminding myself I have a plan for the year ahead and it is only 3 weeks into January. My progress towards the new life I'm building has been to continue to declutter, push forward on the course as that will be a nice extra income if it works and eat mainly out of the freezer and fridge.
My progress might not have been astounding but this month, was, for me, about a regroup after the rest and I am telling myself I am managing that..Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I think you do really well, and I am rather envious of the land and barns you have. I would move in an instant to a do-er upper in the right place if it had a couple of fields and a couple of outbuildings. And I think your animals contribute a lot to your life so don't wish for a different one. Reflect on how proud you should be!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

I think January is the hardest month mentally... it makes you question everything and made worse when the wind is howling.
You have fought a battle and now you are recuperating - just trying to find ways to wrap up the breadmaker safely - as only have a HUGE box and others are too small.DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Ah the wee small Hours! Any time you wonder if you did the right thing just go back and read your last diary. You did the right thing.
Its bound to still be an anti climax. January, bad weather, darkness still, money issues, hard times at work plus the more 'balanced' life you have now ie no great ups and downs and trauma and wondering what the ex would do next what new bit of information about his secret life would come out the woodwork. Now its relatively calm, things will take time to come to fruition which means the brain has nothing imminent to focus on, a vnm who considers you and your feelings and welfare. Its all very different and the brain likes 'same' even if same was crap.
Keep going watty, you're doing great

Dearest @Watty1, as an intelligent woman building a new life, you are bound to have these moments. Wind does I think stir up unease in many of us. You are doing brilliantly, and all on your own terms. Some of the ex's behaviour is indeed comical. Onwards and upwards love Humdinger xx6

I'm curious. Are the wrapping bags, wood and bin liners the junk, or was there something more mysterious?
