Hi, Busy Bees!
@suzeesu200, that’s a nicely varied list you have. You’ve got me thinking about a granny square cardi! I hope we will get an updated pic of yours, with its blue collar. I always try to work my ends in as I go when I’m crocheting or knitting. I’ve never heard of Scrap stores so I tried looking them up. All I got was a link to car scrapyards. I’m not sure I could do much with them, unless I take up metal sculpting! I’ve been looking for the signature setting too; thanks for info. Well done on the leg warmers; they do look cosy. Legwarmers always make me think of “Fame”, a series my daughter never missed.
@keepcalmandcraft, your Nativity set is lovely. What did you use for the figures? That’s a great idea for using up that woolly wadding that comes with some fresh food orders.
@bamboo_socks, a sparkly hat is just what’s needed in this dark and dank winter!
@florenceem, 2023 was an awful year for you. I do hope 2024 brings you joy. I am happy to hear your daughter is able to be back at work now. You brought me joy with all your clever makes last year and it looks as though you’ve made a fantastic start this year already. That’s another lovely card. Good work on the bags. I love Catherine and it’s good to see she’s ‘decent’ now, lol. I’m sure Mr F really appreciates those cushions.
@craftingmad, you have no idea how many “interesting” things I found while switching my crafting space from one room to another. But I have thrown a (very) few things out … Those plantable business cards (great idea btw) are definitely stashbusters AND I’m sure beautiful things will come from them. You always have lots of out of the ordinary things to show us/tell us about.
@Katiehound, you are an indefatigable supporter of so many poor dogs. Great crochet blanket. I do mine with 2 strands of wool together, usually 1 dark and 1 light, and do half trebles. You might remember I started to do one to use up chunky wool? Well, I hate it and it will be getting frogged and I’ll go back to one strand of chunky. I’ve ‘hidden’ it for now. I’ve given several sets of knitting needles and crochet hooks to charity shops over the last couple of years. I seem to have been taken over again and should probably have another cull. Thanks for reminding me. Congratulations on raising so much for “Dogs for Good”. Thanks also for the pyramid pouch making link.
@SandandShells, I like your fingerless gloves. BTW how much of your 50g ball did you have left?
@Betharooni, those colours on your lap blanket go well together.
@CreativeFibro, I am sorry to here you’ve been so ill. I had covid twice, but I was ‘lucky’ because on both occasions I had no symptoms at all. It’s coughs and colds (not covid related) that are doing the rounds here and it’s my turn to have them. I like your IN/OUT crafting budgeting system.
Auti, I’m impressed with your little purse. I cannot abide sewing zips into woolly items. That crystal pic is quite an achievement.
@daisy_1571, I like your cards. Your Mum is a crafting ninja, btw. Those are wise words you gave to Christianne – I think they apply to ALL of us really.
@plumduff55, what a well dressed and comfy Barbie your granddaughter will have. You have my total respect – I hated making Barbie clothes (actually it was Sindy and Action Man that tortured me 40+ years ago). They must have been well made though as some are still in use today!!!!!!! Very posh cloths – did you use cotton yarn? More power to your knitting fingers for your cardi; borders are a nightmare – I wish you much patience!
@AlwaysAllie, I’m impressed with your sawing and finishing skills, lovely plaques. I’d have lost a few of my fingers! Love those little carrot bags. You have so many original ideas.
@nimbo, I hope the work/pay issue gets sorted out quickly. Well done for using the time productively.
@Wraithlady, good luck with your blanket.
@soontobeoap, enjoy your time in Antigua and celebrate with your son – help ma boab, what an achievement!
@sammy_kaye18, I am glad your husband is on the mend. It sounds like you are all organised for your stashbusting year. Good luck.
@emsi_b, that’s quite a list to be getting on with. You’ve made a good start with those Christmas cards.
@Christianne1957, hello and pleased to meet you. I’m looking forward to seeing your finished projects.
@Dizzycap, hello and pleased to meet you too. Wow you are off and running already! Your pictures made me smile, thank you.
@Cupcakecraftscuddlycanine, I really feel for you; I think flooding must be awful to cope with. I am amazed that you are getting any crafting done! Well done you.

Well January fairly whizzed by!
My January projects
* hearts for AHEART4MCR project (I did buy a wee bag of tartan scraps last year, just for this)
* crochet hat for my daughter (poor soul inherited her Dad's huge bonce and can't even find a beanie that fits!)
* some Christmas cards!I have to say that taking that break from finding projects to use up what I’ve got and doing something (the Noel blanket) because I really wanted to do it, does seem to have kickstarted my mojo!
What I actually finished –
* 20 hearts
* 2 crochet hats (1 for DD and 1 for charity appeals), BTW, DD's hat had to be redone a few times as even XL size wasn't big enough, lol. I did say she had a big bonce, poor lass.
* 5 Christmas cards
* chunky scrapghan (yes I ripped it out and started all over again. I have used up all but a few metres of the chunky wool I had accumulated, woo hoo!) – it’s a lot bigger than I intended and weighs a ton, should be warm, right enough
My February projects
* more hearts for AHEART4MCR project* 2 Chinese New Year cards
* Valentine card
* 2 birthday cards
* 1 birthday bag
* some Christmas cards!
MAYBE I'll get to
* ‘Christmas Eve Wishes’ blanket – using mainly stash wool, but will have to top up with a couple of balls of matching wool
* a little sewing project that's been picked up on and off

I'm at a bit of a loose end with my crafting at the moment. And I can't decide what to do next 🥲.The Aran cardigan I was knitting has been ripped back, wound into balls and taken to a charity shop. It was a self patterning wool and as I knitted I realised I didn't really like the colour effect. By the time I had done the back, both sleeves and one front I realised I really hated it. Now, as you know I'm not one to give up ( remember the waistcoat that I re knitted several times ) but I just couldn't bring myself to finish this. It was an expensive mistake as the wool cost £30 but I've learnt a lesson and won't ever knit with that type of wool again.
I have kilos of other wool in my stash but I just can't decide what I want to do next. I also can't decide on my next sewing/quilting project. HELP 🥴
The dishcloths are knitted in 100% cotton yarn. Any type of man made mix won't work. 200g will make 3 cloths. If anyone wants the handwritten pattern I'll take a photo and postDebt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order)

I read my post on Thursday and it made me decide that I had to do something. So I used scraps of fabric to make a small pouch for travelling. The main section is for a small brush, mirror, lipstick and paracetamol. The zipped side is for my phone ear buds and the open section is for a couple of hankies. When I visit my sons the journey takes 2.5 - 3.5 hours by 3 buses or 2 buses and 1 train. I am going to youngest son's today and coming home tomorrow. This make was just to push me back into sewing and I won't have to hunt for things in my bag now 😀.
I also started knitting a baby boys gift set with blue wool I bought recently from a charity shop. Again, a small project till I decide what I really want to do.
Happy crafting xx

Finished the little no sew crochet bag for child‘s ball bearings for game we are making (not finished yet still in planning stage) this is the second I have done and is a vast improvement on my first (prototype) as have got the crochet into the zip more even and it looks better

One to report- an exploding box card for my dad's 60th. It took a bit of working out, and the sides might be a bit too big really, but the inside wobbly bits all work well. I also have no idea where to write the message... But it looks fun and a bit a outlandish which is what I wanted.Make £2025 in 2025- £751.88/£2025
