2024 - No Craft Spending - I WILL bust my stash and make pretty things!!!!!

OK own up who has more crafty stash than they can fit in their house?
Are you like me and have piles of paper, wool, things to upcycle etc stashed all over your house?
2024 is new year ahead of us - another chance to stash bust and turn all our crafting supplies into pretty things
I have put myself on a self imposed craft spending ban during 2024.
As a total ban has not worked well for me in the past I have decided to set a budget of £300 for the year for me to treat myself to new supplies. I am not going to include in my budget buying adhesives or supplies for orders (for items which I already make - I have my own business on Etsy) as long as I have nothing left in my stash which I can use and I am allowing crafty storage as extra if really required and I don't have something already that can do the job as I figure being organised will help me see the stash I already have.
Other than that I hope to use only things from my stash and not get tempted by the new shiny objects which keep being released.
As I have failed miserably at my previous targets I may have to set the bar a little lower but always optimistic I am am going to start my target at 2024.
This will be a mixture of cards, scrapbook pages, handmade items - in fact a real mixture of things as I'm sure I have all the supplies I need to make pretty much everything I can think of!
Would anybody care to join me?
The rules are simple - there are no hard and fast rules apart from what you want them to be. The aim is to use our crafty stash and stay within our crafty budget but of course if you do weaken and grow your stash just come in and confess your sins and you will be forgiven
You can set your own target of how many items you would like to make using your stash or just a certain amount of time you want to not buy for. Whatever works for you is ok with me.
Happy crafting everyone

I have vowed to make at least one thing a day in 2024 and am off to a good start by making a birthday card for my mother-in-law whose birthday is on 4th January (I'm actually kicking myself as I made my dad's birthday card yesterday (his is on 5th Jan) so I cannot count it towards this challenge
I have however used the scraps which were on my desk to make a further two cards so I'm off and running and declaring 3/2024
I have also been very good and not spent any of my crafty budget so far this yearMortgage - £2338.07 paid off Feb 2023 BTL 1 £51,089.10 £35789.36 BTL 2 £81,504.52 BTL 3 £77,497.02 Stash Busting Challenge 2024 Lost count but no craft spending10 -
Hi
Please can I join in for 2024? I have a ridiculous number of big craft projects to do but hoping for a frugal year so will use the craft projects to keep me occupied and stop me spending on other things.
My 2024 craft to-do list is as follows:- Backstitching on House cross-stitch
- Beauty and the Beast rug
- Beauty and the Beast cross-stitch
- Beauty and the Beast crystal art kit
- Black cardigan
- Paris cross-stitch
- Pyjama top
- Pyjama trousers
- Skirt
- Torey the Tiger amigurumi kit
- Elly the Elephant amigurumi kit
- Pink jumper
- Burgundy jumper
- Woodland Thatch crystal art kit
- Blanket (using up leftover wool)
That’s a total of 15 projects so will see what I can clear of those. I’m also thinking that I want to clear twice as many projects as I buy in - whether that will work out I don’t know but we’ll see…
Thanks, B x10 -
@craftingmad I’m so sorry to hear about your losses in 2023, sending healing hugs xx10

Thank you for your kind words. 2023 was so tough for us as a family but it seems to have bought us all closer together and made us appreciate life so much more - some good has to come out of losing somebody who was so young (19), so we are now looking to find positives in all situations. It has also made me realise that tomorrow is never guaranteed so I really hope this will stand me in good stead for this challenge and enable me to use some of the supplies I have stored for years waiting for that special project xMortgage - £2338.07 paid off Feb 2023 BTL 1 £51,089.10 £35789.36 BTL 2 £81,504.52 BTL 3 £77,497.02 Stash Busting Challenge 2024 Lost count but no craft spending12 -
Hi @craftingmad, can I join please.
I have boxes and boxes of crafting supplies in storage at the moment. My long-term goal is to bust or move on as much as I can. This year though will be mainly about collating and listing what I have and working out what I can do with it.

Definitely would like to join again!
Didn't do very well at hitting target last year, but hopefully I'll be able to this year - concentrating on finishing the pile(s) of UFO's as well as actually doing some sewing.
I will put my target as 9 items for this year - that's 1 every month and a half.2024 Fashion on the Ration - 10/66 coupons used

I would like to join again. Target 180 items. I cleared, quite a lot of my stash last year so will have to buy some bits but hope to keep spending target under £150. I am hoping to try knitting again this year. I will master it! 😂craft stash 2023 =161 items 2024 = £134.00 /£180. 00

I would love to join again, it really helped to motivate me, and it was nice to finish some decades old UFOs. I will aim for the same target as last year 12, excluding cards.
I am starting off in a better position this year I know what supplies I have got, and where it all is!
I will keep track of what I spend, but not limit it, as it will just be material for finishing projects off.
I will be making curtains for the lounge and dining room first off so there will not be much other crafting going on. 5 pairs, 2 valances, I am not looking forward to it !! I will not include them in the totals, as the fabric isn't in my stash
