Christmas packed away and in loft. Only done early as we are off to a funeral down south tomorrow, and the cats will be home alone overnight, we don't want them 'playing' with the tree or light cables, both of which they have been doing.Had a good hoover all round, tinsel bits got up, and all the dust.Kitchen is sortedSausages out defrostingCats fedBreast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

Afternoon everyone.@Valli - thank you. A has pain every day but fortunately it's not constant.I've been interested to read all the comments about people not wanting to go back to work after the Christmas break. I would love to be going to work as I really miss the intellectual challenge and also the social aspects of work (I'm conveniently forgetting all the stress and anxiety of course). The grass is always greener I suppose...I didn't get to bed until after 2 am so got up late. Did A's eye drops and then got washed and dressed. Drips of water were still coming in the through bathroom ceiling but at a slower rate. I took down a very heavy bag of rubbish and one of recycling and posted a card to an elderly friend who has been in hospital but is now (temporarily we hope) in a care home.A parcel had arrived which turned out to be a jumper. The friend whom we had Christmas lunch with bought me a jumper, which I like very much but it's a bit too big. She is always stressed with the amount of personal admin she has to do and can never find anything so I didn't have the heart to ask her to let me have the paperwork to return it so I re-ordered it in a smaller size with the plan to give the larger one away. Unfortunately the smaller size is a bit too small! I want to lose a bit of weight though so I'll keep it and hope it's a better fit in a few weeks.A bought me some sheepskin-lined slippers as part of my Christmas present, which are very nice but a bit too small. The don't do exchanges you have to re-order and send the others back for a refund. I've re-ordered them (they are now reduced in the sales
) so packed up the others and took them to the post office. I hope I don't get another jumper situation in reverse and the replacement slippers are too large.
Put on a load of washing, which has just finished and am about to start TD it. checked the bathroom leak and it seems to have stopped so maybe the fix has worked after all - let's hope it doesn't start dripping again when we have more rain. Got the things ready for I Hate Ironing who ,came whilst I was typing this, washed up the breakfast and coffee things, made lunch and am now about to wash up the lunch things.

@Cloth_of_Gold I always buy slippers a size down, because although they pinch for a couple of weeks they then fit well for ages rather than being stretched and sloppy. I'm so clumsy that I'm a trip risk!
First day home alone, and I have
WMx 3, TD x2, FUPA x2, swish and swiped kitchen and bathroom, vacuumed and mopped all flooring, WUDUPA x2, sorted put out and brought back in recycling, reorganised and purged some boxes in my big kitchen cupboard, stripped beds and washed sheets, emptied condenser unit and water tank and defluffed my dryer, called about Junior Flamingo's meds, put my new organiser together, made some fabric into rectanglesfor xmas wrapping, purged my wool stash. Now taking a half hour break!
To do: finish drying bedding, remake beds, make dinner, make Junior Flamingo's lunch for tomorrow and pack his bag

I'm so clumsy that I'm a trip risk!I've always bought them the same size as my shoes and never had a problem. Oh well, it's done now so I'll just have to hope for the best.Drying done and put away. I've made a half-hearted attempt at tidying the ROD, which is even worse than normal at the moment because it has a lot of Christmas stuff in there . I found a pork pie in a carrier bag and goodness knows how long it's been there so that went straight in the bin. We have two amaryllises on the go, one about to flower, but there was another one in the ROD, bought as a possible present but that didn't happen so we've decided to keep it. It has already started to sprout so I unboxed it, gave it some water and it should be out by the end of Feb.Just as I was making a cup of tea for A someone rang from the hospital and asked a lot of questions about his eye medication. Someone from the same unit rang only 2 or 3 weeks ago and asked the same things (plus a lot of other questions) so don't know why they needed to ask again. They talked about possibly changing one of his other tablets (not to do with his eyes) once they see the results of the blood tests he's having done tomorrow.

Evening all,
Have I only been back at work for 2 days - feels like forever (sorry, ClothofGold). I have had the joys of yesr end stocktaking, so not too taxing but darn chilly in the warehouse all day! Yesterday was interesting driving to and from work - we were in the amber area for the wind and the rain lashed it down relentlessly all day. Pot holes the size of craters have opened up, and are now filled with water, just to add to the fun.
Flying is back on its back seat again. I did prep a veggie chilli for the sc for tonight (flying has been limited to getting dinner on the table), but DH is claiming that he has cooked today, as he put the stuff in and turned the sc on…
DD is out with a friend this evening, DH is doing the drop off and I am hoping that he will also do the pick up later. I think that DD will be going back to uni this weekend, tossing up getting her freedom back vs being warm and fed. First we have to get through a hospital appointment tomorrow, so I have the day off work. Mr M is due to deliver in the morning before we have to leave.
Valli, we have also been watching Mr Bates vs the Post Office. I can’t binge watch it as the whole sorry state of affairs makes me so angry and I feel so sorry for all those poor people. And nobody was really ever held accountable for it, I think. I hope this program raises more questions and brings some accountability to bear. Sorry, off my rant now.

Evening all
busy day at the paid stuff but I’ve managed some flying too so order is slowly being restored!
wm x 2 done, 1 dried in TD and 1 on airer
yesterdays load folded and put in airing cupboard
gym workout done
dailies done
all bins emptied
walked around each room collecting recycling, had to make 2 trips to the bin with it all but it made a big difference
my office and spare room dusted and vac’d
dishwasher run and emptied, just needed the 1 load today, now all caught up!
back tomorrow x9 -
CofG You make a good point about work. I have a very well paid job a 15 minute drive away from home, I manage a small team of 4 who are a great bunch and we get on well. I have a lot of responsibility and a lot of deadlines to meet but the senior managers mostly leave me to it so I am pretty much my own boss. And yet I fret constantly about work and suffer with really bad imposter syndrome. I never want to get up and go to work and I dread going back after holidays. I think it's me and I would feel like this wherever I worked, I wish I could enjoy it more.
So 8 hours in the office, DH has taken the tree down. I have stripped DS2s bed and put this in to wash and done an airer shuffle. I have also done some Pilates had a shower and washed my hair. Back in the office tomorrow.Fayolle I loved your comment about DD. My two were getting far too comfortable here but the need for their own space/privacy/freedom won out in the end. It is very quiet without them.9 -
tree down, everything boxed up and back in the attic.
that’s about it for flying.
Been very busy at work and never completed todays list. Probably will go in tomorrow too, to catch upDon't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

More laundry done. WM is on the 5th cycle of the day, and TD on the 4th
beds are fully remade, dinner is all done. I suspect it'll be a very early night after lunch boxes have been packed!
