Miró said:Oops, completely forgot, (senior blonde moment!), I did get something from the Bedale CB. Have you noticed the big white van people, Cherryfudge, that seem to have loads of house clearance stuff? Mostly china, glass and pictures with lots of other weird things? This week they had boxes and boxes of wrist watches!?! Well, I bought 3 x really heavy small plain crystal bowls for £2. I knew they were good quality..... Google reverse search found them.....Czech glass snd currently selling at £61 each!
There is a massive Sunday boot sale here in Essex (Dunton) that has attracted crowds for decades. Its also on the police radar since a tradesman found his own tools - recently lifted from his van - for sale there. Van break-ins are common place here and really set small businesses back. People with a habit to fund are behind it and I very much doubt the traders care where the goods come from. For that reason I am sticking to chazzers.
I've had quite a bit of chazzer success recently, including a smart white jacket (suitable for work), white jeans and 3 smart dresses, which I plan to gift to my sister. Her wardrobe could do with an update IMHO and she never needs much persuading to accept presents! No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.7 -

Have you tried The Open Library online for free vintage books? @Potternerd, They have about twenty by A J Cronin.5

Its for this reason I am wary of man-and-van enterprises, the provenance of the goods is unknown so its fair to assume the worst, ie that the goods are stolen.

I couldn't care less about some of my jewellery that was stolen but there were a few pieces that I knew could never be replaced - fortunately the police found them.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Had a brief fossick, spotted some Denby I recognised at prices that would have the Acquisition Committee needing smelling salts, so left it for a more desperate Denbyholic & some beautiful mugs said to be Denby in a glorious amythest colour - but again at ludicrous money without a basestamp. Not arguing with the attribution as shape 'right' but ye gods I cannot justify that much for a single mug!
Probably just as well I didn't see anything of silk - am contemplating making a christening gown but despite all the frocks being in sales, nothing in a fabric I wanted! (Phew, really.)10 -
I've loved reading about everyone's finds, although I'm trying not to spend I nipped into a couple of shops today:
£3 - lecreuset pot, label still on bottom, I reckon about £30 new. May gift this.
£3.50 - crystal vase medium/small size, just right for roses from the garden (but in the meantime I popped in the faux crystantheums from dunelm)
£3 - pair of loose fitting summer trousers, only primarni but they are very striking almost flower-power - and with pockets! I am so fed up of leggings, jeggings and jeans.
Very pleased with my under a tenner spend
ps I did have my eye on a very heavy glass fruit bowl, was sad to leave it behind but reckon it would just gather dust.
pps I did a reverse search on google and apparently my vase is vintage longchamp crystal by Cristal D'Arques. There's one for sale on poshmark 25 euros - nice to know."Think of many things, do one"
Mortgage 30 Jul'25 est. £209,749 £309,749 (aiming for sub-£200k next)

disappointed when I returned to the Cancer CS that they were sold out of bee bags and socks. I've got 2 bee bags (jute shoppers) and wanted to get the bee socks to go in them for C-word presents. I've had to resort to getting 2 bee tea bag holders which is fine as both intended present recipients drink tea. Will have to think if I can get to another of their shops on the chance that they have socks.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Nice vase @SandyShores I wonder why anyone buys new vases when lovely ones turn up in charity shops.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!7
