Miró said:Ooooh that book shop! Those plants….. *drools* Don’t get to York often these days wot with the traffic and parking! Should really make an effort….. I was very surprised by the Chipping Norton Oxfam antiquarian book shop….lots of signed copies of books and a very knowledgeable chappy in charge…a real treasure trove!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. @Miró - I'm very envious of your cookbook find, that's one of the two Ottolenghi's I'm still hoping to find along with Jerusalem. I'm also envious of your visit to his new restaurant in Bicester village, I've promised myself a treat visit there once I've tamed my allotment but at current rate of progress I shan't make it until next year!
Jolly interesting to hear about the Oxfam shop in Chippy though, Ronnie Barker used to have an antiques shop there and I once had some teeth removed at a specialist dental surgery in the High Street after which I fainted in the local branch of Boots! Hopefully, they've forgotten about me by now.
I meant to pop into various charity shops today after a lunchtime weeding session but then the wind got up and dark clouds began to hover and I decided to make a fast dash down the hill to home so no purchases to report.7 -

Another interesting book I saw in that Oxfam bookshop was a huge book about the painter Jack Vettriano and his work and it was signed by J V. Priced at £99! Spotted a couple more antiquarian bookshops in the town too. Interesting place "Chippy', not as touristy and 'curated' as many of the other towns.6 -
Nice find in the Sue Ryder shop in Stow on the Wold…. An LK Bennett dress in silk and priced at £25. Originally priced @ £275! Perfect for a wedding where I want to be low key. Might chop off the flowing medieval stylee sleeves though at the elbow.Couple of other chazza shops too….Air Ambulance, Blue Cross. Bourton on the Water had a nice Sue Ryder shop and Moreton in Marsh had lots of small independents as well as the ubiquitous Sue Ryder. All of the assistants in the chazza shops seem very friendly here and greet you as you go in…..not like at home!,9

Lovely dress @Miró - agree about the sleeves - if you can alter them yourself, good on you!
I found a O.S.P. Osprey handbag yesterday for £10. It's cross body, red patent mock croc leather and looks unused. The lining is cream with dragonflies and little bugs on - spotless. Tempted to keep it for me as can't prove authenticity plus it's lovely - anyone have any tips? It has a stitched leather label inside and zip pulls are O.S.P. branded.Cross-stitch WIP: Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 11/25 Currently reading The Cliff House by Amanda Jennings9 -
I just dropped off a donation bag and found a few things to buy. A grey French Connection jumper and a black New Look blouse and three hair scrunchies. That all came to £10 exactly.2025 GOALS

Today’s final foray was to Chipping Campden and Broadway….found a copy of Hygge by Marie Tourell Sonderberg for £2 in a hospice shop in Broadway. The Bloke got a Barbour shirt for £5.50 which pleased him!Yay, back home tomorrow….the Cotswobbles are a bit flat aren’t they?7 -

@Miró I totally agree about the sleeves. They strike me as the sort of thing that looks lovely until you have to do anything except stand around being ornamental IYSWIM.
Interesting that you found the Cotswolds flat by comparison with Yorkshire, when I visited Norfolk many years ago I was homesick for Oxfordshire's trees, we're more rooted in our particular environment than we know.
@Coxy11 I'd never heard of the brand but see online that it's coveted by many so why not give it a go and see whether anyone will bite? You can always keep it for yourself if no-one is interested, red mock croc sounds rather glam though so you never know.
@Wednesday2000 that sounds very good value compared to the prices in my area, lucky you."She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."
