Does anyone know the charity shops in Nottingham city centre? I'm visiting tomorrow.5

Sorry can't help with Nottingham but may I ask if anyone knows of any decent charity shops (*cough* or car boot sales) in the Cotswolds please? Orft for a week staying near Bourton-on-the-Water. If there are any I imagine them to be super expensive and full of old Barbours!!4

I remember Chipping Norton being pretty good. If you can go as far as Worcester, there are many plus they're concentrated in 2 areas.6

This afternoon was full of lovely surprise finds, including an autumnal door wreath and this little beauty for £5 which I thought could be my own personal transportable writing perch à la Jane Austen:
I've just found the company and products online and nearly fallen off my chair!!: https://www.silverferngallery.co.nz/collections/albums

There are a couple of nice charity shops in Broadway. They weren’t overly expensive considering tho not as cheap as some of the ones people on here are lucky enough to frequent.7

@Rosa_Damascena What a gorgeous find and then I clicked the link...wow!!
Took my donations into local charity shop and left with picnic cutlery for a £1 4 knives, 4 forks, 4 spoons in a little pot. I'm not sure how much use they will stand up to but I'm clearing stuff that reminds me of the ex in a bad way and the cutlery drawer was one of those - so - I removed all the cutlery except what remains of what I had before I met him and having only 3 of each item I thought it was a high risk strategy to take those on summer picnics so this little £1 set will tide me over.
I complimented the woman behind the desk on her stunning dress to be told it was from there, Monsoon at only £1 which inspired me to have a look through carefully but sadly no wonder finds for meMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!9 -
@Miró - sorry, I hadn't realised that you had already altered the neckline of the dress so totally agree that it would have been much too low before your work. I can't help with Bourton-on-the-water as I haven't been out that far for years but do report back with your impressions.
@Frith - sorry, can't help with Nottingham but do let us know what you think, because I, for one, am always interested in comparisons.
@Rosa_Damascena - I'm shocked by the prices on the website you linked, do you think it's a case of the mention of weddings putting the price up immediately?
@Watty1 - I do sympathise with your need to rid yourself of reminders of an unpleasant partner, I found it helpful to clear such items myself and am sure they went to good homes. It's much nicer to see your new bargains and remember how resourceful you were to find them. I hope your new picnic set brings you many happy occasions with friends and family.
Like the entire country I've had a lovely sunny day here and spent the majority of it outdoors either visiting gardens or weeding my allotment so haven't done any chazza shopping but will try to make up for that next week. I feel as if I've gone straight from thermals, woolly hat, gloves, scarf and coat to t-shirts with no intermediate weather at all so I'm very glad of all the bargains I've picked up over the last few years as I had a whole lot of nice short sleeved tops just waiting to be worn.
Enjoy the sunshine and the weekend, goldfinches.7 -
@Miró You may find a morning out in Cirencester quite good - the town centre is small but charming (Roman amphitheatre/museum etc) and there are plenty of charity shops which have nice Cotswold-quality items at good prices 😀. A trip to Cheltenham is probably a good idea too - they have a big Sue Ryder charity warehouse on the outskirts of town (down the Tewkesbury Road), a few charity shops in the town centre, and another sprinkling of them up towards Leckhampton, on the Bath Road (which looks a little old and faded, but which is quite literally round the corner from where some Royals live so you never know what you might find in the chazzers!)7

I had to pop up to M*rks this pm as I'd managed to run out of milk among other things so decided to walk the few extra yards and just see what there might be on offer in my favourite bhf shop and I'm so glad I went there first.
I spotted this long hot water bottle through the window and went straight to it before someone else nabbed it. I tried to buy one in the Dunelm sale, but they were all gone by the time I looked, so I'm very pleased with this one which is BNIB and was £7.50 and is a lovely creamy white fleece too. Then I snapped up Alice Hart's Vegetarian which I've borrowed from the library before now for £2 as well as a dvd of Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri also for £2.
Apologies for the odd photo, the hot water bottle is very long and wouldn't fit into the frame easily."She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."

I have been longing for a trip back to NZ for quite some time now, the cities are cosmopolitan but venture outside and its very olde worlde and comforting. Also there is a great coffee and cake culture.
