Cherryfudge said:Here you go DFV 😊. I think it’s 1950s, maybe a bit before or after. It’s a lighter brown than my Homestead items. Anything more you can tell me would be most helpful.Tankard shape mahogany brown Denby jug, 2 pint volume (relatively unusual survival, they were far too useful & so often dropped!) dated by the Denby scroll basestamp as made between 1950-1975Can’t extract more date info from Impressed R & impressed F in my books. So “at youngest” 49 years old, likely between that and 74.The Acquisition committee is delighted to see a fine piece in good hands & if I learn more about those impressed letters, I’ll update this post!
Homestead tends to be a pale blue interior but few shops are that clearly lit!8 -
@Miró - I love the F and F striped dress, reminds me of the gypsy skirts of the seventies. I made one in needlework class at school with much painstaking gathering between two rows of stitching for each tier and wore it to death.
@Cherryfudge - lovely shape jug and I certainly covet that oval casserole in your link. This bibliophile is wondering about the book your OH thought might be valuable and where he's planning to resell it, if he is? I'm about to try to weed my books so some tips on where to sell the rarer volumes I don't want to keep would be welcome.
I set off on my bike for my allotment yesterday afternoon and almost immediately the heavens opened and down came the rain so I turned around and as I was pedalling home spotted that the Age UK shop was open and since I was already drenched decided to stop. I found these two books both of which seem almost unopened as the bindings and pages are in such good condition, they were £1.99 each. Then I also snapped up this small Le Parfait jar for £2.49 and these beautifully soft Per Una straight black trousers for £5.99.
Then this morning in between shopping in Sainby's and Marks I popped into my favourite bhf shop and snapped up this copy of The Lost Words for £3.50 and this very lovely bluebell colour 100% cotton double cuff shirt by Hilditch and Key for £8.50.

Other than auctions (online or otherwise), you could try a second hand book shop: I sold a couple of inherited books through one in York but it wasn't 'big money'. Some of the prices on Ebay aren't realistic, if you can find what prices things have actually sold for, it's a better indicator of value than the asking price.
Then again, there are lots of other books sellers: look up somewhere like Abe Books (online) and see whether they might have something similar, or be willing to sell it for you. I don't know how their system works, sorry, so I can't be more helpful there.
I will ask DH if I've missed anything important, but he's gone to bed now.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I had a bargainacious afternoon yesterday, despite being told by friends that I have accumulated enough stuff over the weekend. These I just couldn't resist and will make use of:
The bookmarks were just 10p each, and the card holder £1.
The blouses I didn't need but still couldn't resist are currently spinning around on 1400rpm.

Joules summer dress £1
white Stuff leather cross body bag £5
Red Herring black jumper with white stripe down the sleeves £5
The woman in the CS where I purchased the bag said rather accusingly (I felt) “You’ve got a real bargain there”. I didn’t price it and it had got a mark on the back, probably from jeans dye. Whereas the woman in the CS where I bought the dress was lovely about it being a bargain.
i also bought a denim dress but it looked hideous on so I’m going to return it and get a refund.
i took in a donation of about 50 items too, so lots of space available in my wardrobe now!
