I've often seen the ducks that live near the bridge in your area. If Daphne is a relative of theirs, she's will be fearless and resourceful. I've seen one stop the traffic as she took her ducklings across a road! I think I was more scared than she was.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Am loving the duckpdates, and at the same time very glad I don't have one - foxes are on manoeuvres in my back garden.
Popped into Barnardos in town this lunchtime, bought a couple of brand new books at £2.50 (BoGoF), some foundation which was at the till for £2.50 - I don't often find my shade randomly, and this was good enough (can always dilute it with moisturiser). Plus they had cream eggs at the till for 25p each.No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.7 -
Passing through Ripon today it seemed a shame not to pop into a couple of charity shops.... so glad I did! Found a replacement glass shade for one of a pair of floor lamps that came to grief when dear old Albert had one of his silly half hours! £2.95 😀
Managed to get a look at the eggs in Daphne"s nest this morning when she hopped for for a drink and a splash about in a puddle. No sign of any of them 'pipping', (is that the right word?). If she leaves for any length of time she studiously covers them over with bits of torn vegetation.

Ah bless her, Daphne sounds like an experienced mum! The ducks on my local canal are quite partial to frozen sweetcorn & peas 😉2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Loving the Daphne updates.
i found a pair of Ovye white leather trainers. And they have stars. In excellent condition and judging by the soles, never worn. £4. White leather trainers are my absolute go to so v chuffed.
And a melamine stacking cup with cat pictures £1. Again an absolute staple for me.

@Miró - I'm also greatly enjoying the duck updates, shall we call them "The Daily Quack"? Thankyou for showing us the eggs and the nest, very interesting.
I meant to post this photo the other day and I'm afraid that I completely forgot but here are the tray £2, bain marie £3, the brabantia container £2, the ice cream bible £2.50 and a chocolate collection £2.
Please ignore the rather scruffy chives on the top left of the photo, I bought them intending to separate the bulbs and replant them on my allotment but it has been so wet here that I decided to wait a while and they're getting very crowded in the pot.
I also bought six pairs of M&S trousers and a Boden top but didn't realise until I got home and had a more careful look at the labels that four of the trousers were too long so they all had to go back this morning. I've kept a pair of light beige chinos £7, some black silky pleated ones with pockets £6.50 and the Boden light blue breton top £7.50.8 -
Just missed the bus today so wasted a bit of time in the community chazza - picked up a hair ornament/comb thingy for 25p. Made of metal with pale mauve stones. No idea how to use it!
Daphne is in a bit of a sulk today with her back to the world mostly, quietly chuntering to herself. I think she wants her eggs to hatcb now so she can get them all to the nearby pond. I understand she will marshall the chicks within 24hrs of hatching and march them all off. I shall be very, very disappointed if I don't get to see them before they all decamp. Then I will have to sort out the garden as Daffers and her gentlemen friends have destroyed all the plants and bulbs!13 -
Love the hair comb, could it go in a chignon? (posh bun?) And I too hope you see and photograph the baby ducks too.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Daphne has been very subdued today and hardly left the nest at all….. not been able to view the eggs today. I do hope she's not wasting away! She does have food and water within easy reach. Bit worried now as I will be away from tomorrow morning til Friday teatime and the webcam does not work very well remotely ☹️. Anyhoo I have a neighbour primed and armed with binoculars, torch, camera and phone……just in case!
Moody Daphne
