We had a busy and rather spendy day so decided against the Bedale car boot - it seems we'd have been disappointed if we'd tried to go! I love the blue in your dress, @Miró, you will look very smart (and wealthy) at the wedding.
The duck is a beauty! Perhaps the RSPCA could advise, or the RSPB? And there's a Blue Cross animal rescue in Thirsk as well as local rescue charities who might be able to tell you what to do or not to do.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Yes. I would contact the RSPCA or RSPB too about the duck. I hope it is okay!
Nice dress btw!5 -
@Miró how exciting to have a nesting duck, you lucky thing. I don't have any useful advice to offer except to say that unless it is her first ever brood she is an expert and has presumably chosen a site she considers perfect. I'm in awe of your setting up a camera so quickly and hope that you'll be posting regular photos and updates on here for us all to admire. I expect you'll be starring in next week's newsletter too.
In other news I had a particularly expensive trip to my favourite Bhf shop this afternoon where I spent £58 on 6 pairs of M&S trousers, a Boden top, a tray, 2 cookbooks, a kitchen waste container and a dinky bain marie pot. They must have seen me coming because one of the cookbooks had been placed prominently in the window which mysteriously made me unable to pass the shop door! I'm not expecting that all the clothes will fit and/or flatter but, since they have a 28 day return window, decided to buy the lot and decide at home because I find that much easier. I'll post photos tomorrow once I've made up my mind."She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."

A few weeks ago I found myself having a rather mundane dream which included the glass dessert bowls of my childhood….(exciting stuff I dream about).
So, imagine my surprise on Friday when I turned around in the charity shop and found 4 of them plus the large fruit/salad/trifle bowl. They had just been put out that minute.Needless to say for £3 for the lot they came home with me.✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

@miro love that me+em dress. an absolute bargain (back in the days when i was not so mse i liked the brand) And love Daphne, hope she is well this morning.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!8 -
@Miró
If you have a large washing up bowl or a low large trug with a couple of inches of water you could set that up nearby so s/he can bath occasionally. I don't know how often they will want to do that while sitting on eggs but if there's a pair they may take turns sitting while the other baths. Nice to set out some feed as well but other than just normal bird seed perhaps I can't make any suggestions on that. RSPCA would be best contacted as already suggested. She is currently sunning herself after a fraught morning involving two unwanted gentlemen callers who came just a touch too close to her nest and which turned her into a Whirling Dervish of wings, beak and feathers…..the visiting drakes beat a hasty retreat! Do not mess with the Daffers!!
I had a chat with a local ‘proper’ farmer about her, (not one one of your shiny new Defender driving types wearing the latest model Barbour get up😂), and he said just let her get on with it, she will know what she needs to do. All very exciting tho, (to a towny!).
