Morning all, it's a beautiful day today so another machine load of washing done and on the line!  The forecast for this week has completely changed again!  There was supposed to be rain nearly every day now it's saying sunshine with some cloud until Wednesday then rain on Thursday!  Let's see what actually happens!

The food is definitely going to be a problem as can't have a lot of things I like to eat.  Veg are going to be a particular problem as can't have any beans, peas or pulses!  We tend to eat quite a lot of beans, peas and pulses!  What can eat which is SW friendly is lean meats and fish both of which have to be without bones.  I can eat tinned fish except salmon.  Can't have any salad unless all seeds and skin removed - there isn't much left of a cherry tomato once you remove the skin and the seeds or a piece of cucumber so not worth bothering with!!!

Can only eat white bread, white rice and white pasta, egg noodles and potatoes without skin - which includes chips (air fryer to the rescue!).

Can't have any brassicas so no cabbage, Brussels, pak choi etc; no sweetcorn, mushrooms etc.  This is what I'm going to find most difficult I think.  With dairy I can have most things as long as there are no bits in it.  Fruit like berries, grapes, kiwi, pineapple so most of the things I actually eat!  Going to have to stick with apples, oranges (with all pith removed), melon, ripe bananas.

No alcohol so will be sticking to 0% gin (0.5 for a double) for a while or 0% rum (syn free!).

Really not looking forward to it but at least I've got a few days to sort the menu plan out as I can eat normally until Wednesday!

    So today's plan:

    B - boiled eggs, soldiers - HEB; P; 2
    L - LF burger, onions, chips - S; F; 0.5
    D - beef and bean stew, mash - P; S; F

    HEA - milk
    HEB - bread
Syns - LF spread 2; LF burger 0.5

    Have
    a good day everyone.

    Hi all,

I STS at group on Saturday, which is a minor miracle given DH and I hit the pub on Thursday for a heart to heart and then demolished 2 bottles of wine on Friday night. He is understandably prickly about his job situation (still….not….resolved….) and is taking it out on DD and me, although is the life and soul of the party with his mates. Really not on.

I am fed up of paying again and need to knuckle down. Today I made a poke bowl of sorts with rice, smoked salmon, pickled cabbage and pickled pink onions, with soy/balsamic dressing. Cooked double the rice so will have the same tomorrow. Tonight is mushroom risotto. A lot of rice but trying to take more interesting food for lunch.

I don’t blame you for leaving that group @SingleSue – really not on being rude especially when it’s a choice whether to go to group and actually stay.

I hope you too find a nice group to attend @Jellybaby You’ve done so well to only put on a little bit.

That sounds very restrictive @joedenise Hope your tummy can take the white bread etc. Mine would be so sore!

Talking of sore tummies, TOTM appeared today and my goodness I’m in agony. Have just taken some paracetamol but the pain is excruciating. Will be hobbling to the bus stop at this rate.

I’m sorry not to be posting more. Work isn’t all that busy still but it’s very difficult to post in the open office and I try not to be on line at home to give my eyes a rest/spend time with the family.

@joedenise this is an extreme version of the diet needed for my IBS, which has been awful since that horrid stomach upset a few weeks ago. I eat pulses and beans rarely and in very small quantities, WM bread is too much fibre, good white bread (traditional bakers) is tolerated in small quantities, but eats up the Syns, apples, onions, brassicas eaten a little if spaced out, bananas sort of O.K., but hate them when anything other than firm. Mash and SW chips are all right if peeled, but don't really like the texture of spuds.  It is good that you have an end date in mind, and hopefully will be well worth it for the procedure.
@Coxy11 sorry to read that things are so difficult for your OH and that you and DD take the flak - isn't it always the way of these things sadly. Well done with the STS.
I think that I will delay WI this week until the next morning (a) I weigh less in the morning (and it may be crucial to staying in target) and b) I need to go to the venue then as the "egg lady" stops there between the morning sessions each week so that we can all stock up on lovely small producer FR eggs.
Walked 4 miles today and should just get within 15 Syns

Thanks for posting @Coxy11. You did well to get to group and STS. 👍 Sorry life is so tough 🤞things will improve soon.

I'd imagine it's the 3 weeks after the procedure that makes it so tough @joedenise. Are you OK with eggs? That would be a good way of getting protein for all sorts of meals. Personally, I'd rather go without bread than eat white. I often make carrot chips alongside the potatoes to get the Speed in. Can you eat beetroot? I'd have thought passata based sauces for pasta or chicken wouldn't have bits. 🤔

We've not seen @ruby_eskimo for a while. Hope all is well with you. 🤗

I'm pleased with myself today. I was out over lunchtime and thought about either treating myself to a pasty (😋) or buying something low syn from M&S or Boots. Instead I made myself a pasta salad to take with me. So SW and mse friendly. 😇

    Today's plan -
B- HEB toast, egg, bacon (P), baked beans (F), HEA milk for drinks
    L- pasta salad (P, F, S)
D- salmon (P), hassle back potatoes (F), roast vegetables and green stuff (S)
    Syns - LTL mayo 1

I am not going to go back to class at the moment.  I have been strggling health wise & have chronic back hip & shoulder pain which is making driving difficult.

Morning all, looks horrible this morning - the forecast was definitely wrong!  Supposed to be sunny today but definitely very wet.  Really annoying as I soaked the whites last night so will still need to wash them today just hope the weather clears up.

@maddiemay - it is the same diet as for IBS although that's not my problem!  I'm a bit annoyed that I wasn't actually told about having to reintroduce the fibre foods that slowly, in fact I was just told I needed to do it for 3 days before the procedure and no mention of after.  Only found that out when I got home and looked at the leaflet I'd been given!  I'm hoping I don't need to do it quite so slowly as IBS isn't the problem.

@beanielou - Hope your back, hip and shoulder pain clear up quickly.  Chronic pain is awful.  I do hope you have some strong pain killers to help alleviate it a bit - if you haven't it would be worth speaking to your Dr to get something.

@maman - we eat loads of eggs but more often for breakfast than other meals and also loads of chicken - if fact DH is always joking that he'll end up looking like a chicken with the amount of eggs and meat we eat!

The trouble with pasta is I'm not very keen on it but think I'm going to have to eat a bit more over the next few weeks!  Of course I'm not even going to be able to eat my HM ready meals from the freezer because absolutely everything has onions in and most of it has garlic and tomato as well!  This of course will impact the shopping budget.  I think I'm going to try and get some chicken or turkey mince and try making the WW recipe for goulash that I've found but using dried onion and garlic powders in it plus other spices.

    Right today's plan:

    B - scrambled eggs/spinach on toast - HEB; P; S
    L - ham salad - P; S; F
    D - veg biryani - S; F

    HEA - milk
    HEB - bread
    Syns - may have a G&T or 2 tonight 6?

    Have a good day everyone.

Tipping it down here too @joedenise. Weather forecast lately seems very hit and miss. ☹️

When you go for your procedure, I'd check how strict the three weeks after is. Sometimes they use 'catch all' leaflets and it might not apply to you.

They'll miss you at your group @beanielou but best not to push yourself too hard. Keep posting!! 🤗

I'm feeling decidedly fat today. I think last week's off plan day is catching up with me.

    Today's plan -
B- HEB toast, HEA1 milk for drinks, bacon, egg (P), baked beans (F)
L - cold meat (P), fried veg and pickles (S)
    D- meatballs (P, S), pasta (F), HEA 2 Parmesan
    Syns - 0

@maman - that's what I was planning on doing.  I suspect you're right that it's a catch all leaflet.  I suspect I'll have to reintroduce the foods slowly as the body gets used to fibre again after not having it for a while but just have to wait and see what they say.

The weather is actually brightening up at the moment but no point in hanging the washing out as the ground is still very wet.

I have strong painkillers, pain patches. I do a lot of stretching & excercises every day. I seem to have hit the wall & that’s with physio every week & regular injections.

Sorry you’re not feeling great @beanielou. Look after yourself and take it easy lovely xx

That diet sounds so strict @joedenise. Definitely get an opinion on your personal plan as fingers crossed you may not have to follow the leaflet to the letter.

I had another poke bowl at lunchtime and some melon/grapes. Just went and got a KitK@t from the canteen though as TOTM is particularly trying and I needed something with my fruit tea. Not feeling bad one bit.

Dinner tonight is Szechuan pork and noodles.

DH has a 9am meeting tomorrow – let’s hope it goes ahead and we can move on!!
