Hi everyone hope it's OK if I join. I'm going to try slimming world from home as I desperately need to lose weight. I don’t need hip surgery so I'm stuck on the sofa most of the time so the weight is just piling on me 😔. I've seen some of the starter packs for sale on Ebay so think I be best getting one of them. Just hope I can do it.

I checked out the recipe @Coxy11. Thanks for that. I don't have all the sauce ingredients at the moment. I rarely buy fromage frais or American mustard. Do you think I could use yogurt or English mustard? 🤔

Thanks for the commiserations on my little gain but I'm OK with it as still in my target range.

Shame you didn’t manage to get the food shop done @Longwalker. I do hope you don't get a parking ticket. 🤞

I hope you got your coffee @joedenise. I'd much sooner browse around a garden centre than hang about the hospital. 😁

I'm planning to just buy myself a coffee at the theatre tonight so today will be syn free. Last night's meal was SW friendly. I had prawn cocktail and liver and bacon with spring greens and mash. Syns would have been in mayo and the obvious granules used for the gravy! You'd have thought a chef would make their own.🤔 I had some wine syns as well but probably all within 15 syns.

    Today's EE plan -
B- HEB porridge, HEA milk, blueberries (S), banana (F)
    L - Spanish omelette (P, S, F), pickles (S)
    D- veggie chilli (P, S) brown rice (F), cottage cheese (P)
    Syns - 0

Well done @bubbs and glad to know you’re safe and dry!

Welcome @Gilly82 - do let us know if you need any guidance xx

I’ve swapped out American mustard for English before @maman plus have bought Quark today instead of FFFF as need it for risotto on Monday anyway. Last time DD made the sauce without the FFFF and it barely drizzled as so thick! Could’ve sliced it 🤣

Evening all, @maman enjoy the theatre tonight.  Good choice just to have a coffee - far better for you than an ice cream or half a crunchy!

Welcome @Gilly82.  Everyone is welcome to the thread.  As others have said if you need any help just ask.  We've all been beginners with SW at some stage - some of us longer ago than others!

@Coxy11 - yes DH's appointment was a MM this afternoon.  He's now on the waiting list for a knee replacement operation so I'm going to have to contact our travel insurance company and update our details - that'll be either more money or they won't cover him for anything to do with his knees!  Have to wait and see when I speak to them.

Well done on your lb loss @MrsPorridge and glad to hear you intend to eat more this week!

I didn't have the stew at lunchtime as we were very late eating breakfast and really didn't want to eat before we left home so we ended up with a scone and butter at Dobbies with our free hot drink - but I was good and just had a cup of tea as can't stand their Americano!  DH had a latte and said that wasn't very nice either.

  • Welcome aboard @gilly82. Sorry your hip problem has you up on the sofa. One of the lasses in my class joined up as she needed to lose two stone to get her knee replacement - she lost the first stone in a month !! And she could barely move at the time. So yes it is very much possible to lose without getting out and about. However you really do want to lose. All the information you need is in the book, read, read and read it again, its all too easy to scan read, think yep - thats easy enough and then struggle, 8 months in and I still refer to the books

Well done @bubbs. Are you happy enough dropping your target?

    @maman , enjoy the ballet

@coxy11, Id have Mr L killed within the first week. He is seriously annoying this week, sulking cos his daughter didnt send him a birthday card and of course no matter what Ive done, its not enough. So yep Id have him killed and if he doesn't wise up before the end of the week I wont need an Island on which to do the deed :)

@joedenise , we went to Dobbie's last month, I think I said? Very nice it is but OMG its a dear hole as we say here. I did look at signing up and getting the coffees but the truth is, I would never spend enough there to justify the cost. We have a wee independent GC at the end of the road and a big posh one in Bushmills so its not really worth the 60 mile round trip

@Mrsporridge - thats great news. Do please eat a bit more. I know you have a few days coming up where you will be off plan a bit, but work those meals into a plan and do your best around them. Like if I know we are getting lunch out, I make that my meal and have a very light ( but filling and free ) tea, just dont skip meals to allow for it

Says she who's barely eaten all week , and the scales are definitely showing it :(

I did the Chinese for the others and I just couldn't face it myself. Ended up with a cherry scone. ( note to self, get a tattoo across the forehead saying "do not give me free scones at the end of shift" !!! I cant resist. I cant even say hunger drove me, I took a seriously big bowl of fruit and yoghurt to work and had a baby bel on the drive in, I seriously weren't looking food

Its all this poo going on around Mr L. Seriously he is being a total !!!!!!. I know its about not getting a card, he knows its that but is denying it and making out all is fine but hes not. Hes gone into complete hypochondria mode, which is a pattern when hes feeling hes not getting enough attention. See, when I drink I just go along for the ride, easy life, and I tell him what he wants to hear. Sober me thinks !!!!!! not this old crap again . So its very very tense here and hence Im not doing well with either food or sleep

    Oh well, such is life

Weigh in tomorrow , if Ive a pound off it will be a ruddy miracle but right now Im just looking for this week to end so I can move onwards and upwards, or rather onwards and downwards :)
  • Thanks for the welcome 😁. The starter pack is £28. I only want it for the syns as I know how the plan works from doing it years ago. I can't get to a meeting as I just about get around the house at the moment. Cooking won't be a problem as my partner cooks the meals.

    ONLY £28 !!!!

If you can possibly get to a meeting, it will cost you £11 to join and your first week. You will at least get talked through the books and get the books.

Would it be at all possible to get to one? Depending on the consultant, they can put you on Shift Worker, one of our ladies here gets that luxury as she is disabled, it means you only have to go to class every couple of weeks and only pay for the weeks you attend

If its just finances thats stopping you going, your GP can refer you for 12 weeks free

For me, going weekly is vital. I need the accountability else I will fall by the wayside, plus I actually enjoy going, the groups are great fun and theres always a good laugh to be had

However if you are certain you want to go it alone, get on Ebay, look for the 2023 starter pack and make sure they have the two books, the body magic and the discover freedom books. Theres a lot there a lot less then £28. I have given mine to a friend ( we got new ones this year) else Id happily send them to you for postage costs

    £28!!! A joke

Ps, just looked on FB market place and starter packs are up there for £5

Morning all, it's a dry day at the moment although we had plenty of rain overnight again and it's forecast at about 50/50 chance of rain this afternoon.  I've got a machine load of washing on but won't be getting it out on the line as we have to go out again this morning for DH's medical to keep his C1 licence so that he can drive the motorhome.  This will probably be the last time he'll renew his C1 as we're thinking about getting rid of the motorhome either this year or next and getting a caravan instead which he'll be able to drive on a normal licence and won't need to bother with the medicals every 3 years.  As we'll be out at lunchtime I suspect we'll eat out but not certain.  We may just come home after and have a late lunch - we'll see.

@Gilly82 - those starter books are very expensive on Ebay and FBMP.  It really would be worth getting to a group just the once to get the books.  My consultant no longer does the member talk but tells people to watch it on the website!

@Longwalker - we've decided we won't be renewing out Dobbies membership next year as it's quite a trek from where we live although we seem to have mainly managed to go there when one or other of us has a hospital appointment!  So we've got another few months before it runs out so after that we won't be bothering.

    Today's menu plan:

    B - fry up with sausages - P; S; F; 1.5
L - toasted cheese sandwich, pickles (if we eat at home) HEA2; HEB; S or jacket potato, beans, salad (if we eat out S; F
    D - veggie biryani - S; F

    HEA1 - milk
    HEA2 - cheese?
    HEB - bread?
Syns - 1.5 sausages (M&S 3% fat) 1.5 (won't be buying again as don't like the texture but will use up the packs I bought this week!)

    Have a good day everyone.
