@VALM, at least you know you are only conning. yourself and its really not worth it. Much better to be honest with yourself so you can see where you are tripping up and, if you want to loose, make the changes needed. I also did the old " Ive walked 10 miles today, I can have... " doesn't work like that. The calories burned during exercise are negligible
. Today for instance Ive burned 1,631 calories and done 5 miles of walking - the walking only burned 405 of those calories . Thats not to say exercise is a waste of time, its so not, its good for our mental and physical health, it just doesn't burn the calories. I now have to exercise as to lose a lb a week I can only consume 1100 calories a day and Id be starved consuming so few so I have to bank a few hundred more. Means I can eat well, but still got to lay off the carp
@coxy11, we all have those weeks and at least like VALM, you know where it came from and are happy enough. Mmmm to the doorstep sarnies ::s@maman@Maman, your resolve always amazes me, still keeping a food diary - Kudos I keep meaning too, I have some notebooks lying around, I really am going to have to do it, esp now as any sort of off plan shows on the scales for me. Thanks for the offer of the coat, I wore my "ready for the artic" one I got after Christmas - and believe me, it was so needed@MrsPorridge, well done with the resolve and sticking to just two glasses, be proud of yourself xxx Oh I never bother about tiny syns when cooking. Im cooking for three of us, and usually end up with a portion or two leftovers so the odd 1syn is probably not on my plateFantastic NSV there @bubbs. It does make the hard work all worth while doesn't it? Yes its sad news about The King. Im not an out and out Royalist, but it does make me antsy when any of the senior royals get ill@joedenise, well done getting back on track so quickly . Re the potatoes, when Ive a bag of tiddlers and I want jacket spuds, I do wedges. Put them in the bottom of a bowl and pile up the topping - kind of the same and just as nice and fillingHappy Monday back at ya @Beanie@beanielouNow I can tell you SingleSue is doing well in her life right now. Shes busy busy busy with a move in the next couple of weeks. As far as I know shes still doing SW her way, She was saying shes very few clothes now that fitShe posts on another forum Im on
Funeral was as good as they go tbh. The minister , although had never met the deceased, did a very good job. The deceased was my SIL's. FIL. Hes lived with them the past 8 years so got to know him pretty well. It now leaves BIL the last of the extended family and its hit him hard. The man was 93 and tbh Im surprised he lasted as long as he did, he took to his bed Christmas and when we were up NYE he had given up and was just lying there, not even the tv or radio on. So it wasnt really a sad occasionUnfortunately as we all know, funeral teas are not geared to weight loss. Back to a pretty swanky hotel, and coffee and fresh baked shortbread, then out came the sandwiches, hot sausage rolls and chicken strips, and having been on the road since 8:30 with just a coffee to go, I didnt say no2 shortbreads, 3 triangle sandwiches, two strips and you know it never touched the sides. Driving home I felt starved and then of course Im thinking to myself I cant eat anything more cos of all that stodge, so I made an omelette with mushrooms and a bit of mozzarella I found in the fridge. I know in reality it was very little food, but it was the biggest carb fest Ive had in a long time and it did leave me a bit panicky. Im hungry again now so Im away for a yoghurt and a pear to get me through

Morning all. Yesterday was mot so bad. I did snack on a few sweets and a Fererro Rocher that are still hanging around the office bit otherwise was good. Went to Zumba. Have not done a workout this morning cos my legs were aching like mad plus I wanted to make some couscous for lunch. Leaving now for my walj to work.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. Morning all.
Had a quick read through. Hope the fallers are recovered. I like the 'shoogly' word. Describes that post-fall feeling perfectly!
Well done to those who are losing and staying within target. Huge well done to Longwalker for your shiny milestone!
I've been mainly on plan. Did get called out to work on Saturday and put together a box of healthy snacks. Mainly fruit and sugar snap peas (a bit obsessed with them right now!) Of course, didn't I walk out without it! Consequently ended up at a meeting between jobs and they had ordered pizza from my favourite place. Had 2 slices and it was bloody good.
Scales are showing that I should still have lost a bit so hopeful for WI tomorrow. Will be bringing my colleague back with me for her first proper WI. She should have a decent loss as it's her first week and she's young.
Having lots of NSV lately. Everywhere I go people are commenting on the weight loss. Wearing conturve pants really accentuates the weight loss. I feel a wee bit as if it is cheating but I have very wobbly bits, and tbh I was wearing them before and didnt get the compliments!

Afternoon all, been really busy this morning and it didn't help that I overslept! Didn't get up until 10 to 8 and my hairdresser was due at 9 and she turned up 10 minutes early - typical! She's usually finished by 9.15 and DH needed to go out at 9.20 and we were both going to go into town together there but as she hadn't finished I ended up having to drive myself in! DH had an optician's appointment and they weren't even able to find a lens to correct the vision in his right eye so have given him a referral to have his cataracts done. Have emailed the referral to Benenden so hopefully he should get an appointment shortly - usually get an appointment within a couple of weeks.
I managed to get my bedding washed before I went out and out on the line. By the time I got home DH had bought it all in dry. Glad about that as we have rain forecast for the next week or so!
Good luck for WI tomorrow @NornIronRose and brilliant about the NSVs you've been getting lately.
Today's plan:
B - porridge - HEB
L - stuffed peppers, banana - S; F; HEA2
D - sausages, mash, veg - S; F; 2
HEA1 - milk
HEA2 - cheese
HEB - porridge
Syns - LF sausages 2
I've bought some Speed fruit so will have some after dinner or early evening with some greek yoghurt.
Hope everyone is having a good day.0 -
It's really motivating when people notice our weightloss @NornIronRose. So pleased for you. 😊 Good luck for WI and hope your friend does well too.
I always make a point of keeping as many variables the same for WI as I can so I always try to have the same breakfast, go to a morning WI and wear the same clothes as when I started. The day I joined I wore black trousers (always shrouded myself in black in those days😉) but after a while I could get in and out of them without undoing the zip! Hopefully your magic knickers will soon be equally loose and unnecessary! 🤣
There's no problem having Ferrero Rocher or whatever @VALM, provide you use your syns for them. Hope you managed to hobble into work OK!
I'm not so angelic that I always keep a food diary @Longwalker. Because I usually only go to WI every 8 weeks I tend to ease off a little in between time. I still stick to plan whenever I can but go over syns when I eat out or go on holiday. Then, a couple of weeks before next WI, I go back to the food diary as it helps me focus and get rid of any excess pounds. I prefer to write my own in a notebook rather than use the official SW version. I write my daily menus just like on here but I have a column at the side where I subtract the syns from 105 as I go through the week.
All go at your house today @joedenise. You probably needed that sleep after disturbed nights with your cold.🤗
My food diary tells me I have 20 syns left for today and tomorrow so I'm not going to cut all visible fat off the lamb as I like it! No idea of the syns but certainly not 20. 🤔
Today's plan-
B- HEB muffin, HEA milk for drinks, eggs (P), tomatoes and mushrooms (S)
L- ham (P), potato (F), fried veg and pickles (S)
D- Lamb hot pot (P,S,F), greens, cauli and broccoli (S)
Syns- 5?0 -
I like the idea of starting the week with 105 syns and subtracting. Might start doing that. Mind you, I usually just use the app to diarise but only if I know that I need to keep track. Most days I am syn-free til evening. Maybe 1 at dinner for cous cous.
Usually will have a hexa or 2 by then. Hexb is always for treats. Sugar puffs or a dessert with a hi fi bar cut into it.
Evenings are my biggest issue by far. I have lots of syns left and gather together my snacks. Never go over the 15 but am conscious that eating in the late evening is not a good idea. But that's when I get the munchies and am eating when not hungry. And yes, I do eat in bed. There's only me and I enjoy it.0 -
@maman sadly I was already over my Syns at the weekend. Didnt walk to work either as it was raining torrentially. I ended up eating cake. One of the ladies I work with starts chemo therapy tomorrow and our boss bought the cakes. Nobody said no in the circumstances though I did turn down chippy lunch.
So the aim tomorrow is to do 25min workout as soon as I get up and then make couscous for my lunch. Ive made vegetable biryani tonight and made enough for 4 peopke. Ive also made a fritata for breakfasts for the rest of the week.
My hairdresser is coming tomorrow night so at least I have food teady for when he has gone.
Has anyone tried the new hi fi bars? I like them though wish they would bring the mint ones back.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge.
