Morning all, didn't have a particularly good night's sleep as DH has now caught my cold so both awake half the night!  He ended up getting up at 3am so I managed to get a couple of hours after that so definitely feeling a bit better.

So sorry to hear about your colleague @NornIronRose but glad it's spurred you on to think about your own health.  The snack tray looked great - plenty of Speed and Free foods.

Hope you're not too badly hurt by your fall @beanielou.  It's horrible and painful when it happens and also shakes you up so much.

Still a bit undecided as to what to have for dinner tonight as I've got a stew in the SC but always think it tastes better the next day but also have a chicken which needs cooking today - I didn't notice what the date on it was when I picked it up a couple of days ago and had assumed it would be OK until tomorrow.  Will see what DH fancies later.

    So today's plan:

    B - Fry up with sausages - P; S; F; 2
    L - bacon & tomato sandwich - HEB; P; S; 2
    D - either stew, mash - P; S; F or roast chicken dinner - P; S; F

    HEA - milk
    HEB - bread
Syns - sausages 2; low fat olive spread 2.

    Have a good day everyone.

@NornIronRose sorry to hear about your colleague.  You are right though, its good that we have decided to try and have a healthier lifestyle.

    B overnight oats (HEB)
    L crustless quiche and salad
D SW cajun chicken loaded wedges

I'm out tonight with a girlfriend for drinks.  I'm aiming to have two small glasses of wine (or one large) and then go on the Diet Coke, So syns for the day will be on drink

  • @maman, we too went to the Titanic Experience last year - I sobbed. It really is excellent , well worth a visit. I live up at the Causeway Coast, you are correct,  its seriously stunning. I work at Portrush and seriously, no matter , my heart lifts every time I come to drive into it - the first sight of the sea from the top of the hill going down in, then looking out over to Donegal - its just absolutely stunning. Im so glad you enjoyed your visit here. And you are correct, 99% of the population are very house proud which extends to keeping their front of houses tidy and if they have pavement - sweeping it

@bubbs - well done on the day on plan, which with what you are dealing with is a huge achievement , be proud xx

@beanielou, ouch!  A fall as we get older is so ruddy painful, and can take a long time to get over. No wonder the medicinal chocolate was cracked open. Be kind to yourself xx

@NornironRose, so sorry to hear about your friend, thats dreadful that she wasnt treated as soon as. Unfortunately this is the NHS 2024. Like you the fear of getting sick is spurring me on. I was dreadful health wise during my 50's , Im determined to be as fit and healthy as possible going forwards. Finally all that information we have been bombarded is really sinking in and Im taking steps. Its certainly true that your health is your wealth.

@maddiemay , I use 3 litres of Lidl UHT skimmed and a small pot of Yeo organic I think it is - green tub. 0% fat and I just hit ferment - so whatever the default is. I strain through a muslin over night - OUT OF THE FRIDGE. Its sour milk, its not going to go off. In the summer I stick it in the garage. I line my big colander over a deep pan, and then upturn a plastic mixing bowl over the top to stop dust and flies. Its so thick it rolls of the cloth leaving it clean. I quite often have to stir back in a bit of whey

Just back from weigh in - 3.5lb off and my 2 stone award - over the moon and proud as punch :) - 6lb to go to get the body fat to a good range then Ill reassess. I am comfortable where I am body image wise , but I want to get as healthy as possible

Funnily enough, the other two lasses who hit target the same week as me are both back paying as well, one struggled to maintain ( as I do ) the other is doing the same as me, lowered their target

Well done on your 3.5lb off and your 2 stone award @Longwalker - you have every reason to be as proud as punch.  You'll probably lose that 6lb by the end of the month the way you're going.  Good idea to reassess once you get there.

That's excellent @Longwalker! Very well done on your 3.5lbs and your 2 stone! 👏👏👏

I've been cooking this afternoon while I listened to the football. Bolognese in the SC, big pot of pilau rice ready to portion up for the freezer and I've made chicken curry again as we enjoyed it so much last week. Just need to stir in the spinach and yogurt when we're ready to eat later.

Enjoy your evening out @MrsPorridge. I love wine myself but if you like spirits, they can be a better SW choice at 3 syns a measure with low calorie mixer.

It's been dry and quite warm here today. DH and I got out for a walk earlier.

Sorry to hear that Joe has picked up your cold @joedenise. I agree with you that stew tastes better the next day. It's the same with Bolognese and chilli.

    Today's EE plan -
B- HEB toast, HEA milk, bacon, egg (P), baked beans (F)
    L cold meat (P), bubble and squeak (F. S), pickles (S)
    D- chicken curry (P, S), pilau rice (F)
    Syns - weekend wine 😁

Oh dear @bubbs, you're not getting much luck with this accommodation after the leaks and now no power. 🤔

You'd think  with the shortage of housing generally, they'd do away with this rule of having to move out of lodges. 🤔

Being you, you've still managed to eat well.👍

If this thread is about slimming I'm in and would like some advice from you ladies but I doubt I will stick around long.

    1. I'm a man
    2. I don't cook not in the real sense of the word. I don't eat what you might call foreign food or pasta, I was always a roast dinner person, a fussy eater. I like an easy life so I only go to 1 shop
    3. I have tried different ways of trying to loose weight/inches
    4. My typical shop is 6 days food for main meal alternate weeks either

6x Chicken salad = grilled chicken fillet, spinach, tomato, cucumber, beetroot and 2 eggs, brown sauce.

    6x 1 egg, 2 bacon 1 tomato 1 third can of Heinz beans. Microwaved/grilled.

I rarely eat bread rarely drink alcohol or pop, lots of coffee no milk no sugar.

I start the day with 2 dry Tesco wheat biscuits, midday maybe a couple of tea cakes/hotcross bun. 6 o'clock ish main meal, one of the above,

9pm ish maybe cheese (matchbox size) and crisps or crackers. I sometimes buy banana and easy peel oranges for between.

My weight was always about 10s 3lb until covid hit, I'm 5'5" 11st and can't get down, my waist size has gone from 32 to 36 and that is what I am more concerned about. I am healthy and quite fit for over 80 years old.

My review nurse said my bloods are perfect and couldn't be better, colesterol level 2, no diabetes.

Any advice would be much appreciated so I can get back into my Next trousers and dump my stretch jeans
