Hugs to all those who need them.

Out early today, firstly to optician to get DH some new glasses then both of us to the dentist.  Luckily neither of us need treatment.  Because of the dentist didn't have breakfast first thing - we decided to have it as a brunch when we got home.

Brunch leftover bubble and squeak with 2 rashers and tomatoes

I'm visiting a friend at 4 so will have a later tea when I get back.  As its WI tomorrow I will just have a wholemeal muffin (HEB) and scrambled eggs and spinach.

Enjoy your meal at Italian @Coxy11 and hope the graduation goes well. 😊

I like a lighter meal the night before WI too @MrsPorridge. 🤞 for tomorrow.

You've done so well this month @Longwalker. Sounds like the week from hell but congratulations on not letting it derail you from Dry January. 👍🤗

I've been to WI and gained half a pound. I'll take that after 8 weeks including Christmas. I'm still 2 lbs inside my target range so all good. 😁

I don't plan on leaving it another 8 weeks as that would coincide with the weekend we're going away for a family wedding. But I know I'm eating out a few times in February so it's going to be a 'good when I can' exercise in the next few weeks. This coming week should be fine though so I'm sticking with my food diary as it really helps to keep me within syns allowance.

    Today's EE plan -
B- HEB Puffed Wheat, HEA milk
    L - Spanish omelette (P, S, F), pickles (S)
D- beef (P), mash, LO gravy (F), carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage (S)
    Syns - 0
  • Gosh Longwalker what a dramatic day! At least a load of crisps is much less damaging than a drink that may turn into two or half a dozen. Massive respect for dealing with it without a drink.
I love the attitude though. That the problem doesn't actually go away if you have a drink.

Loving the support here. I'm cream crackered after 4 days full on at work after covid. Shopped this afternoon, all decent stuff (Aldi jaffa cake crispy bars are 2 for hex b and only 89p/5).
Scoffed an apple and 3 small pears while sitting in traffic on the way home. Usually would have necked a whole pack of Leo Lions and maybe a bar of their mint aero type thing.
So as you lot say, it's about planning and making sure you have those healthy snacks in.

If I have energy tomorrow I will make a pot of soup and some chicken curry. Feed us for a few days.

Thank you all for the support, it means a lot.
@Longwalker what a terrible day, from knowing you here I am sure that you must be absolutely mortified at what happened.
@Coxy11 I too would have been fuming after that dentist appointment.
@NornIronRose I look forward to you writing about that number beginning with a 13.
@MrsPorridge your dentist visit sounds like a whole lot better experience.
@ well done for staying inside target range, I am looking forward to being the same, mad with myself for having to part with more cash each week ATM.
@Jellybaby I am thinking of trying to grow some pea shoots too.
People have talked of Skinny Syrup at group, never been tempted, but thinking a little would make very thick yogurt and fruit more like a proper desert.

  • The skinny syrup isn't too bad. Doesn't have much of an artificial sweetener taste. I got the golden syrup one.
I like things to be either properly savoury, spicy, salty or sweet. Just plain yoghurt and fruit tastes awful to me.

Made a fairly edible dessert for tonight. Quark with options mint (1.5 syns), good big squirt of syrup and cut up crunchy Aldi bar. Mixed and put in the fridge for an hour. Hit the spot fairly well.
  • @Maddiemay, yep the support here is second to none. Hell I tell you guys ao much I dont even tell my husband

Thankyou everyone for letting me blather on

@nornironrose. I saw the skinny golden syrup in these the other day and was tempted. I know a lot in my group order the skinny sauces and they all seem to go down well. I didnt buy in the end because It would end up on toast. Ive noticed that Ive been craving sweet things of late and I put that down to buying those muller yoghurts. They are lovely but I could easily demolish 4. I mean they are syn free but really??? So a big vat of yoghurt is sitting straining away as I type

@coxy11 , yep dental work isnt cheap is it? We have a different system here, and I do have a NHS dentist, We dont have the bands , every treatment is paid. So I went in last week for a check up - £7.50 BUT the hygienist sets their own fees - private, and nope you dont get referred on the NHS out of clinical need. I have to see her 3 times a year at £80 a pop. Our dentist is really fair, you stay on his books as long as you attend at least once a year. Dont show and its bye bye, until theres space again

Great restraint there @mrsporridge :) Are you now back on track?

@maman, yes I think I have done really well this month all told, I can keep sight of that even with all the drama and stress here. Didnt end there, Mr L came home with the top of his finger missing !!!

Still I had a rather lazy day off. Mum was giving it the poor me's, so I had to get out and I disappeared down town for a couple of hours for a mooch. Stocked up with fruit and veg taking advantage of the Tesco and Lidl offers. What is it about Lidl that my free treat is always a ruddy pastry? Lol. Treated myself to some face creams and serums, only Nivea Q10, but it has good reviews. And I had a good SW day. Lunch ( didnt bother with breakfast ) was a wholemeal pitta stuffed to the gills with salad and topped this tuna and tea/dinner, I made a salad with half a can of chickpeas, lots of onion, peppers, cucumber and tomatoes with a jazzed up fat free dressing - lots of added garlic and chillies, mixed in some rocket and topped with a tin of sardines. Now I cant say I loved it ( they were having pork chops and pepper sauce fgs ) but it was nice enough and filled me. And for munchie time, one of the last mullars, with blueberries and the spelt cereal I found the other day

Lost half a pound at WI today.  A bit disappointed but at least its now in the right direction.  Am back on track now  After WI had a fry up breakfast out.  Tonight its cod (plain) with SW wedges and peas.

I've also made two big batches of veggie soup to last me for a week or so.

They all count @MrsPorridge. Well done on your half pound! 👏👏👏 Keep at it and you'll get more off this week.

You deserved and needed a bit of time to yourself @Longwalker. Hope the coming week is kinder to you. 😊

Meal plan and shop done. 👍 I went to the Company Shop today @bubbs. Very little worth buying in the way of meat or veg. I did get pink onions and pickled cabbage and individual size 0% Greek yogurt for 11p each and M&S cottage cheese plus Heinz soup for the food bank cheaper than Aldi own brand.

    Today's plan -
B- bacon, egg (P), baked beans (F), HEB muffin, HEA 1 milk
    L egg (P), fried potato and veg (S, F), pickles (S)
    D- chicken supreme (P, S and HEA2 cheese ), SW chips (F), carrot chips (S)
    Syns - weekend wine 🍷

    Hi everyone,

That salad looks fab @Longwalker - that's what I miss not being able to have lunch at home during the week now. I would cobble together something different every day - JPs, salads, fry up - now I am relying on leftovers or packet couscous etc. which doesn't feel as satisfying or varied.

Well done on the 0.5lb loss @MrsPorridge x

We had a lovely day yesterday. DD was so happy and we were all a little emotional. She didn't have the greatest uni experience - didn't sit A Levels due to Covid then lost out on first choice due to the algorithum. Ended up going for one term in 2020 then home studying the remainder of the year. Then back to mainly remote learning and limited socialising. Then broke up with BF just as she was embarking on her dissertation hence the later graduation.

We ate at a lovely Italian afterwards. I chose grilled sardines followed by seafood risotto but succumbed to the apple tart and ice cream. Was so good. Definitely not weighing in tomorrow morning!!

Glad you got some bargains at CS @maman x

  • @Mrsporridge, brilliant loss. A half pound is half a pound - GONE !!!. Most of my weight has gone at that rate, its rare for me to get more then a pound. Its a knock when someone else walks in and looses a stone in 2 weeks but thats bodies for you

@Coxy11, your poor daughter, such a ruddy shame. Not that I ever went onto further education but it seems the best about it is the student lifestyle and the networking and shes missed out on all that - whilst still paying :(
One apple tart isnt going to harm at all Id say. sure theres been many a scone down my neck this past month - still losing. I love a salad as long as I get to make it. I know how much of this or that I want or can stomach before it starts to turn me ( textures )

@maman, enjoy the weekend wine and have a glass for me - please :)

Another good day food wise, a huge bowl of hm yoghurt, frozen fruit and oat bran, spooned it into me as I worked , stopped me picking. Then I made those two a beautiful well packed pizza and I made myself a pitta bread pitta - one wholemeal pitta split and another huge salad. Not a syn has passed my lips today - so far :)

Something else Ive introduced is Green Tea. I actually quite like it. I got myself a cute wee mug from Home Bargain and I make my tea and sit and sip away at it. It was the Moseley programme the other day, him agreeing it does help with weight loss - with a try isnt it? If nothing else its increasing my fluids and keeping me of the Pepsi max of which I drink far too much off. I have squash in work - no sugar stuff .

Have the nature hike early tomorrow, hope the weather is dry for that. Im making bacon rolls early to munch in the car and we are getting breakfast ( read my lunch ) at 10;30. Its listed as a continental but I imagine it will be just pastries which is why I dont want to be too hungry. No idea about tea tomorrow, I think Mr L will leave home if I do anymore salads this week. Sunday will be fake away Chinese , chicken in black bean and peppers, pork and spring onions and ginger and egg fried rice and if the cauliflower thats been in the fridge forever is edible I shall braise that in oyster sauce ( I dont like cauliflower so wont be eating it ) My own scales are showing Im moving in the right direction, certainly no sign of the gain so that was defo all about weighing in late
