Hello new declutterati! This is a wonderful thread with MrsSD as cheerleader extraordinaire and amazing friendly posters too. From my one years experience I have found there is no judgement, no “you should do this”, no condemnation only complete and utter enthusiasm and friendliness 😊 We are all in this together and will cheer successes and commiserate the bad stuff, will always offer tea and cake and if asked for, a very gentle tap on the bum 🤣
A bit about me - I married a Welshman 26 years ago, have a grown stepdaughter, work full time mostly from home, have 2 dogs and a sadly a rare form of cancer which is the type that can’t be cured but is manageable. It’s mostly shoved inside a tatty cardboard box inside my head but does surface from time to time to remind me it’s there.I’ve had to make a lot of changes due to this which were incredibly hard but am getting there! My 2024 goals are in my signature 😊

@Muddy_Walker I also need to sort a Will. I have no money whatsoever, but I do have an 11 year old with special needs who I need to think about guardianship for.
Not sure re: clothes selling, I just charity shop, but I like Vinted as a buyer.
Bought new storage boxes for recycling today so I can declutter a big cupboard. Also took SILs stuff back to her house (they were drawing locally over Xmas and travelling by train, so stuff needed to be taken to her house)Married 40y.o. mum of an autistic 11y.o. Carer/SAHM.

Delighted to be joining again this year! Thank you Mrs SD once again for running this thread - you are a superstar 🤩.
Hello to those I journeyed with last year - you have been such a great support and motivating force. "Welcome" to all the new people joining us! I will try not to fall off the train so often this year!Decluttering Goals 2024
I'm in maintenance mode so.....
1. “Twice as much out than in” target – for every item that comes in two should go out! I won’t count consumables as I that’s not something I overbuy.
2. Continue to note life admin tasks completed as these are more of an area of weakness than accumulating “stuff” - telling people I've done them really helps motivate me.
3. Stop procrastinating on household maintenance – I made some headway last year (2023 ) with the bathroom, radiators and roof. I'd like to use the momentum and get the downstairs flooring replaced, tired internal and external paintwork spruced up, , a garden shed installed and if and when I recover from the Bathroom experience - get the kitchen done! 😂

Hi all,
I'm in for another year, hoping to declutter more effectively this year.
I need to declutter stuff including craft stuff (mainly cross stitch), books, general crap, clothes that don't fit, weight.
In particular the weight as I am getting complications from a chronic illness and losing weight will help this.
To help with organisation I have bought a diary so all the child's activities can be listed so that everything can be sorted around them.
Also have all my husband's presents for Christmas 2024 bought in the sales and most of the child's presents

Hi might I join please this will be my first year trying this challenge, but I am spurred on by finding mice under my stairs on Christmas Day 😫, I am a complete scaredy cat so my cousin is coming round tomorrow to clear out under there and hopefully my stair cupboard too.My bedroom is piled high with boxes (my hubby was a great hoarder of electronics, mainly gaming), he died a little over 2 years ago and I feel finally able to tackle them and try to sell most of them. I only recently was able to go through his clothes.I am also hoping to get a new kitchen this year so all these things are my motivation. A bit about me, I am 51, live in a 3 bed house with 2 teenagers, a cat and a puppy. I have decided to make a list (I love a list!)

That'll be a lovely motivator to get things shifted, finding the mice! But moreso, the lovely new kitchen to look forward to.
I found the list hugely helpful and has really spurred me on because I can see the jobs I can fit into a space of time that might be available. My daughter's little pal is the slowest eater, so I did the whole kitchen while they ate last night!! I thought I'd start on one cupboard and managed to empty everything.1. DD's chest of drawers 2. DD's wardrobe 3. My own chest of drawers 4. My own wardrobe 5. My mountain of toiletries in the bathroom 6. My mountain of toiletries not in the bathroom!! 7. Kitchen cupboard - tea and bisuits 8. Kitchen cupboard - dried food 9. Kitchen cupboard - Tins and sauces 10. Utility Cupboard 11. Utility... stuff not in the cupboard! 12. Under stairs 13. Shoe bench 14. Coats 15. Craft room shelves 16. Craft room desk 17. Craft room.... floor!! 18. Under bedroom 1 bed 19. Under bedroom 2 bed 20. Loft 21. Garage (again!!) 22. Playroom 23. Books!!! (The DH's) 24. Random items on top of high places will be the finale!

Can I join as well please Mrs SD I was haphazard in 2023 in decluttering and as I plan to have some work done on the house I need to make room, I realised the reason the small bedroom looks better is because I dumped things into the bigger spare bedroom 🫣
not sure how to record it although I do like the 2024 in 2024 and I'm going to make sure I do something every day even if only 24 mins a dayLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin15
