Hello!
I'm hoping I can join this train. We desperately need to declutter ...and clean, as we are considering moving. Two very untidy adults with health and energy issues...and a dog who moults constantly...all clutter is coated in black fluff !!
I've never done a challenge like this before. I am thinking of starting small maybe 15 minutes a day to see how I go. Perhaps carrying over depending on my very variable energy levels and health problems.
I find it difficult to get rid of things, probably due to past issues, but I know I need to be ruthless. Lots of craft things to be sorted and used up. It's even more difficult to get rid of things I have made even when I don't particularly like them ! I did include some (nice) items in with christmas gifts this year which seemed to be recieved well!
Initial aim is to make house more comfortable to live in and use. Find a state where it is not embarrassing to have visitors and ultimately prepare to sell house and possibly downsize to a bungalow to make life more manageable.
15 minutes a day ....rounded up to 2 hours a week! That should make a difference.
Hope to get to know some new people!

It will all add up Oystercatcher. We are thinking about moving house too, I'm not sure if it will be 2024 or 2025 yet. I'm going to focus on not letting so much stuff come into my house as I have a slight charity shop addiction!

I made a start yesterday and got rid of a few items that were either rubbish, charity shop or re-cycling. Today I'm tackling my bedroom. I have tons of things I never wear which need to go, old make up etc.... and I'll feel better for having more space. My new mantra...... Less is more!2024 Challenges

Thinking about my goals for this year.
I'm in maintenance, so want to make sure things don't get out of hand.
Goal number 1 - keep the flow of things steady. We've had a couple of expensive years, so want to pare things back this year, and barring any breakages there is nothing needed.
So I will be running a one in one out.
Goal number 2 - continue to declutter the weight. This means I need to minimise sweets, takeaways etc coming in.
Goal 3 - continue to work through the unusual condiments we have. I have done this last year, but obviously there is only so much unusual condiment eating you can do, so this is a continuing goal.
I'm looking forward to reading along, although I'm in maintenance I still pick up tips and tricks. Here's hoping for a good year for everyone 🥂15 -
Similar to @Betharooni, I dropped off pretty early last year too! However, I did enjoy what I started, which was to get rid of 2023kgs of !!!! Or just over 2 tonnes. So, yes this year, I am going to try harder to clear 2024kgs of !!!!
PS - I am started right now! Thanks @Mrs_Salad_Dodger and other participants for all the inspiration! @QueenJess I particularly love your idea :0November 2023
I'm always in it, it's only the depth that varies....

I've decided that a decluttering list is the way forward for me - there are 24 items to do/declutter in total throughout the year (in no particular order) :
1) under stair cupboard
2) kitchen drawers
3) cleaning all light fittings
4) under kitchen sink
5) wardrobe
6) painting behind front room radiator
7) building shelving in old boiler cupboard
8) random recipes in one place
9) carpet cleaning
10) painting of hallway
11) declutter garden of weeds and keep it that way!!
12) clear the loft
13) donate demijohns
14) Use foodstocks in storecupboard and freezers
15) donate towels
16) donate spare duvets
17) declutter 24ins from body (added total!😉)
18) painting of bathroom ceiling
19) painting of kitchen
20) declutter 24lbs of body weight
21) sorting the plastering
22) complete my 24 in 24 list
23) complete my book
24) on 31/12/24 declutter everything from my wardrobe which don't fit
Some of these are big jobs and obviously I'll be in maintenance mode with everything else so it's going to be quite a challenge completing everything!DNF: £708.92/£1000
