Well, I've got a bag of stuff. I'll get rid of it in January to give myself a head start. But then again, I ordered some new storage boxes but wasn't going to count them as items in since its December.... so maybe I shouldn't count the decluttered either. 😆 excited to get started. 🙈

Have started making a small start on the decluttering as I’ve had a couple of days off over Xmas. As I’m not counting and I’m not on the 2023 thread, thought I could post here and start it off.
Went through a big concertina folder of random paperwork, which I’ve been able to reduce down quite considerably so it fits (with space to spare) in a box file. Some leaflets etc into recycling, all letters and sensitive documents into a carrier bag which I will take into work and shred in the New Year, as it is a decent industrial shredder and you don’t need to remove staples. Concertina folder to go, but unsure what direction as yet (whether to offer to stationery-mad niece and nephew, give to charity shop or just put in bin).
Have put my 2023 calendar in the recycling and 2024 calendar is ready to go in its place. Have given one of my many notebooks to my Mum to use for noting down plan numbers etc so she can get rid of some of her old paperwork as well.
Have offered unwanted chest of drawers to DB1 so he is pondering that at the moment. If he decides he doesn’t want it, will offer to other brothers and then to charity shop. It’s in excellent condition but I want a change and can fit the items from it elsewhere to make better use of my space in my room.
I’m off to declutter some wool into a scarf and mentally prepare for working tomorrow. Thank goodness this is only a three day week!
Thinking of a target is tough, I feel like I got a lot gone the last three months, and have been more mindful of what comes in, so I think 500 across the year

Hello everyone! I need to think of a target, if only to break this down into more manageable chunks. I am overwhelmed by the amount of stuff in my house (two young children and a maximalist live here!) If I can whittle down my stuff, and the communal stuff, by next Christmas I'll be a happier woman.
For everyone struggling with targets, you can go with something simple and on the low side and then add another higher target later. A year is a long time and you can change it up in that time.
I have multiple targets and I’m sure I’ll amend as I go along if it turns out I need some extra ones. The most important thing is to just start doing anything and keeping up the momentum,

Hi declutterati chums Hope everyone is ok. Thank you Mrs S_D for setting this up for another year, this is such a friendly and supportive thread . I would love to join again. My target is to get my house in a sellable state! I'm starting with my bedroom which has piles of boxes and clothes that haven't been put away & various random stuff - I want to achieve a tranquil space for myself. I need to sort the third bedroom which still has loads of DD2's stuff which can mostly be given away. I want to make that into a home office. The garage is full of alsorts including 2 children's bikes and about 300 soft toys plus about 50 tins of paint plus who knows what else ..... The loft is full and I have no idea what is up there (don't like going up there but will put on big girl pants and get it sorted). I also have loads of books and keep zapping them to send to z!ff1t but then never take them. I also have a FT job, PT job, some self employment and casual work - I think I should declutter some of my employment too...... Love to all Deni xx

I am stuck in the TLC Carriage on the 2023 thread, but 2024 should be promising (if only because I have about 450 items of clothing to list on V*nted). I look foward to the new journey and wish everyone a peaceful and prosperous New Year x

May I join please? I have so much stuff to get rid of, being part of the group will help to keep me focused. I'm setting my target at 2 items per day, so that will be 732 items for the year. It's manageable for me with everything else I have to do. I'd love to go for 2024 but don't think I'd have the time to deal with that much!

I will post on this 2024 one from now on. I had my GP phone appointment this morning and she is going to put me on the HRT patch. She said my thyroid was okay, but my cholesterol was high which she said could be to do with perimenopause. I hope this makes me feel better and less tired all the time. We didn't even bother to go for a walk on the beach this Christmas which is what I said I would do every year now I live by the sea!
I threw away a shower attachment from the bath that the previous owners had left as I never use it and it just annoys me having to clean around it. I have to put the rubbish and recycling out tonight, but think that is all for today. I had a lie-in after the phone call and I can't be bothered to take the bag to the charity shop today so I will do it tomorrow. I will have to check which shops are open and I will see if my prescription patches are ready as the new pharmacy I joined are very quick compared to the others I have tried. Oh, I did put down my Christmas tree last night as it makes me feel depressed seeing the decorations up when Christmas is finished!
I'm about to alter my Tesco grocery order for tomorrow as we have run out of all fresh fruit, which is unusual. I am thinking of doing that challenge where you save up for next Christmas. I think I will save £2 coins as I have one in my purse at the moment. I will have to look around for a special box to store them in. Maybe a mix £1 and £2 coins actually.
It is a horrible grey day here. We will probably watch more of the show Seal Team. I cannot believe that is the time already. It feels like I get up, open the curtains and then have to pull them closed a few hours later!
Oh my goodness, this weather! Tomorrow isn't looking much better.
I think I am going to have to declutter my old eyeshadows as I have used them with fingers quite a lot over the years, but I feel guilty throwing things that cannot be recycled.
