Hi Mrs SD. I am in again as last year helped me loads. This year My aim was 150 bin bag sized loads. My DH said if I did that over and above my normal rubbish we would have nothing left! 🤣. However I just managed it and everything now has a place to live. We still have jam packed cupboards and too much of some things. Organisation is a problem and remembering to put everything away again is difficult. We still have sheds to sort and the garden needs a jolly good tidy. Christmas stuff could be whittled down and we could clear some space in the loft. So I am going for 150 again. Would like to count things in as well. Not sure how I will do this as it is harder to do that in bin bag sized loads. 🤷♀️craft stash 2023 =161, 2024 = 119 2025 = £17.98 spent, 102 made and 5 mended,

Evening All, please count me in for the 2024 decluttering journey. Currently visiting family in the West Country and heading back home early Christmas Eve. Then need to tidy the house (basically means shove things in any available cupboard, shed or porch until I have time to sort out after Xmas). Plus presents still to wrap. I am disorganised this year and it does not feel like Christmas.18

Thank you for the new thread Mrs SD.
Once I have my house and all the boxes from the 2 storage places my goal, (apart from renovating the new house), is to actually collate everything. Then I should be in a position to start moving on what I no longer require in the most eco way that I can.
Roll on 2024 and see you all the other side of New Year.

Hi Mrs SD
Ooh! A shiny new thread. Please may I join?
2023? Let's just say I'll be glad to see the back of itBut I've pulled myself together and am ready to get back on track.
As part of pulling myself together (PMT for short?!) I was looking at the 24 in 24 thread, thinking about what mine would be. As I went through my list I noticed how many of my aims (I do like Good Intentions) were covered by existing threads - frugal living, grocery budgets and, of course, this one. And one of my 24 became joining 24 threads for accountability. The decluttering one's a no-brainer. Monthly threads will count as one item each.
One was - obviously - decluttering and I decided on 24 'things' per month. The things can be individual items or bags/boxes. For counting purposes coat hangers (eg) will count as 1 large bag, but pans etc will be individual items. I think it'll work. I'm raring to go!
My intentions have been given a huge boost by the fact that my DD has, at long last, been able to buy a flat. I'm so glad for her - not to mention myself! Every item she's acquired since she moved out of Hall into a flat-share with other students has been saved. Mostly in my cupboards and her old room. And now it's moving out! Some stuff - extra duvet, pillows, bedding, basics of life - has already gone. After Christmas more will follow.
Erm... As a 'new eye' may I suggest an addition to the train?
I notice there isn't a wagon car. And I was thinking that a wagon at the back, with safety nets all the way round might be somewhere any one of us could end up if we got too far behind. But the nets would make it easier to climb back on if we fell off...A budget is like a speed sign - a LIMIT not a TARGET!!

A lovely shiny new decluttering thread, thank you Mrs SD.
My aim this year will be the same as previous years, to do a minimum of 52 bags.Given how poorly I’ve been in 2023, I’ll don’t think the new year will extend to making any “good intentions” as I usually do but I may revisit this later in the year, if my health improves.

Thank you Mrs SD for being up to creating a new thread. 2023 has been another one of several difficult years, however moving on clutter has helped me and Mr MV to start to take more control over our home. One way or another we have ended up being burdened with a lot of other people’s belongings. It seems to be a hazard of mid life, where elderly relatives downsize, or pass, and offspring move out, leaving their unsorted clutter behind. Not to mention our own lifetimes of accumulated stuff. It can be very difficult to keep up with it all, especially when ill health then comes into play. We haven’t caught up yet so there’s plenty to do in 2024! We have decided that we are going to completely empty the loft. This is jam packed unfortunately so is a big project. Also, the garage and remaining shed. We need to do work on the house and this will make things easier to crack on with. Being older and slower than we once were, it won’t be achieved quickly but that’s fine. As long as we are going in the right direction I shall be happy. If I can persuade the non resident offspring to make some decisions over their things that would be a bonus.I am looking forward to reading about how we are all getting on throughout the coming year!18

Hi all, I am in for another year. My target will be 2024 which will be bags or items depending on size, I could never keep track of every thing I put in the bin
. I am still posting on 2023 thread but I don't think I will make my target but it hasn't put me off, that's just life, things happen but the train wasn't derailed, I just slowed down a bit
. Hopefully I can keep the speed up in 2024.
I saw a short video the other day and it struck me as very true. Basically it said there is no right or wrong way to declutter so just do something and keep going. I liked that a lot as it cheered me up. I have made a start and just need to keep going
Looking forward to seeing you all here in 2024
Take care everyone17 -
