MrsSD, I lived in Blackheath on the outskirts of Lewisham in the late 1940s-mid 50s and Lewisham was a fantastic place to shop.
In Lewisham long before the centre was built There was a huge Coop on 4 floors right next to Chiesmans, with two open street markets, a C&As, Woolies and the first supermarket there was Sainsburys and a large Joe Lyons as well,
There were three cinemas The Rex, The Prince of Wales, and the Gaumont (I saw the Beatles at the old Gaumont cinema )I have many happy memories of Lewisham High Street, and the trams rattling up the main road. The Clock Tower was right in the middle of the town (its since been moved
) Its certainly not the place I knew and loved when I was a little girl, but sadly change doesn't always mean the best.
I can remember as a girl guide going to church parade and carrying the flag to St Stephens church which is right by the Quarry stream which runs along the side of the main road. I've not been back for several years and the last time I went I was so disappointed at what the developers had done to the place Its a nightmare to drive through now.
Today I did some more paper shredding as I had a filing cabinet to get through so two recycling bags full of paper junk. Tomorrow I am hoping to sort some more books out for the CS and try to move the two bookcases to a better position in the spare room.If I can't shift them I'll wait until one of my DGS are around as they are a bit hard to move on my own I think DGS Jack is home this weekend so I will make use of his gym-bunny muscles.
It seems like lots of us have got the decluttering bugI know I need to do it because of moving , and it really does become addictive. I seem to be spotting things as I go around my house and think Hmm don't need that it can go

@London_1 I suggest not visiting lewisham as the development in recent years would win (and I think it did) carbuncle of the year. Lived here 30 years near St Stephens and a real shame although love the market and there are plans for redevelopment of the centre which I think is a 60s development, but I remember Army and Navy (Cheesemans) , C &A and Woolies. Sounds like you are on a roll with the decluttering!
Nothing here, and given up until DD2 goes back, although v large coffee table going tomorrow. Realised some damage so contacted person picking up to see if they wanted to change their mind but picking up tomorrow!! and still waiting for confirmation of other item.

Have had a good clear out - cookery book, jumpsuit made of nasty fabric, poncho, teapot and sugar bowl going to charity shop.
Dumped old shampoo that made my scalp itch, also got rid of diet lemonade, apple cordial and apple juice that no one likes.
Also decluttered £50 deposit for v expensive dental treatment to be done at the end of Jan21 -
@foxandflowers if your offspring are still under 19 I would hold onto the most recent paperwork, but scanning it on a big printer would make it easy to store & access / share if necessary. I would suggest you do each case as one lot so you can save it under the relevant date.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Day 2 of 3 childcare today. Took GS2 to the garden centre to look at the fish and he helped me load the shelf there with another bag of DVDs and CDs that have been waiting since before Christmas to go.
DiL tells me I have a shortened day to look after GS1 tomorrow. I am glad as I am having to nap all the time and nothing is getting done.
Off for an early night. Hugs to all whether you need them or not.

Great colour Brie 🙂
one of those quicker jobs this evening, the underwear drawer, mainly because it was so untidy but have binned items as well, it's when your undies past the comfortable range to the at risk of falling down stagethe bras are in a separate drawer so that's another day along with the realisation that some aren't going to fit again, there is someone in town who collects good condition ones and sends somewhere overseas, must look her upon FB
I'm debating what to do with a couple of vases I inherited from mum which have lived on top of the spare bedroom wardrobe since I brought them home 12 years ago. She loved them and they were her grandparents typical Victorian and really not my taste, she didn't have much and left each of us at least a couple of things she treasured and then it was a free for all and there was a lot of 'stuff' My other siblings don't want them and even my niece who is sentimental turned them down, they aren't worth anything and TBH if the bus got me tomorrow I know what my nephews would do 🤔 my task for 2024 to take them down and decide whether being nearly 60 has changed my tastes but I think not! Another quick couple of items also gone in the charity bag, perfume, a China bowl and a diary. This is becoming addictive 😁20
