Hello all, it’s a bit slow going for me decluttering wise.
DH had a big birthday 🎂 and family came over for lunch at the weekend, it felt like Christmas dinner as I did so many options to suit everyone!Anyway, there was too much food, and I had to sort the fridge out today because it’s usually very organised ( as in not too full so you can see everything) but I was at risk of things going off as everything was just shoved in.
so it’s sorted now, and I will make a meal out of leftovers for tonight.
i also went to file a letter from the bank, and managed to shred a whole pile of letters that DH ( the hoarder) has filed for me, that I really don’t need. So the shredder was full, but now emptied to recycling.
i went through the utensil drawer which was over full and took out a pile of wooden spoons and salad servers ( who needs 5 sets of each?) and have shoved them at the back of a top cupboard. If DH hasn’t noticed in 6 months I will get rid of them.A couple of items listed on vinted as LO kindly pointed out they didn’t look right ( a bit big) I don’t seem to have lost weight but must have changed shape 😂
I’ve done the minimal amount of cleaning, I’ve got 2 hours until school run so let’s see what I can get done (after a cuppa of course ☕️14 -
@D123456789 - that sounds like my fridge after hosting; I have never knowingly undercatered! Well done for getting it all sorted out 👏
@nannywindow - that’s a nice bit of news about your husband for the moment and you definitely deserve to have nice things and to enjoy them!
@Wednesday2000 - the downside of getting home is the washing but I am glad you enjoyed your break and found some bargains.@TC77 - I am another who related to being able to see all the possibilities in all the things! I reframe it now with the realisation that others are creative and will also have the imagination to do something great with the items. It makes it easier to let them go. Your house is so lovely and bright looking and will look even more beautiful when you are done.My old hairdryer has joined the garage pile for recycling. It still works but the handle is gluey and sticky, despite lots of cleaning effort. Also, a sieve which has broken. I think things will last forever if I look after them but they don’t! My fridge is nicely empty and unfortunately therefore revealed two small bowls of furry leftovers hiding behind jars. I have also chucked out some stale herbs and spices. I’ll clean the jars and take them to the refill shop. I must remember to write the date on them this time. I am reviewing some sentimental items to understand my feelings about them. Some don’t remind me in necessarily a good way and it is taking me a while to unpick and consider how I will feel with them gone. I am initially removing them from view and going from there. Most of my things seem full of memories of one form or another. That feels like a heavy weight sometimes. I would prefer to be more forward thinking but without throwing away my heritage.12 -
@vulpix congratulations to your nephew on obtaining his farm.
My small win for this week is sending my sale parcel and actually going into the loft again and finding 3 more bits to match and sending them out too. I notified the buyer of this she sounds happy about it. Win win.
Decluttered some planned monies for the "rendering (but not render) job" completed on the front of the house. We also in turn got some free fire wood from his house he is redoing 4 doors down.
Got some more pictures of 4 items to go for advertising (Ooh the jet has just taken off in combat mode - very very loud. Comes back indoors very excited about that!) will get them on line tonight.
I managed to use up from mums stock 3 of the cards and 2 random envelopes by putting seeds into them.

Not too much happening over here… trying to be vigilant with things coming (or not coming) in to ensure the clutter won’t build up again and only buying things when actually needed. Still a work in progress on the food front, but still way better than last year as I’ve never been able to fill the garage freezer since it took months to work through it all. It’s actually looking a bit sad in there at the moment and is barely 1/5 full!
Trying to also be sensible with Xmas presents for the kids and not go over the top. I have specific lists and they aren’t getting that much as they will also get presents from 2x grandparents and my sister and honestly DD doesn’t want anything. I asked her yesterday what she wanted for Xmas and she said “a duck” 🤷♀️. I’m also collating a birthday list for DS as his birthday sneaks up on you quickly being just over a month post Xmas.
A few more bits gone though:Digital:
2 - text conversations deleted
Physical:
1 - baking supplies used up
1 - wrapping paper used up
2 - DS tat (Buy Nothing)
10 - DS paperwork (recycled)

Evening, hope everyone managing to stay dry in those relentless rain. I had an hour commute each way today to another office. The motorway was horrible to drive, feel like I've aged years from concentrating on driving. Nothing a hot bath, cosy pj's, time spent with family & good nights sleep won't sort. Working from home tomorrow and can catch up with everything.

@QueenJess - I used to ask for a duck for Christmas. But my relatives knew I meant a duck through a donation to World Vision. I have given them ducks, chickens, even a goat and pigs in the past through making a donation in their names. Then I usually get a small toy duck (or whatever I have given them) to put in the wrapping paper for their present. We've also done soccer balls, sewing machines, mosquito nets, bicycles, and wheelchairs through the same charity.14

I wrote this in 5 osp by mistake 😆
Morning!Just dropped off about 12 empty boxes, a box filled with paper for packing/wrapping and a huge bin liner bag filled with bubble wrap! Which creates a small space in the garage!!I’m keeping the removal company boxes as I had to pay for those so shall hang on to them meantime incase I’m ever brave enough to try!12 -
1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
2. Sort out sleep patterns - target bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 10:00 a.m
3. Deal with mail & email on a daily basis
4. Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
5. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Wednesday was a dark, miserable & damp day but at least the temperature was forecast to reach 21°C 😊 The general household waste wheelie bin was NOT emptied 🙁 so I have left it roadside & hopefully it will be emptied tomorrow 🤞I was up & dressed by 11:30 & am now settled with my first cuppa. DH & DSis are also up 😉 DH had intended to go out but as his destination was almost 2 hours away on public transport he has decided against it 😉 DSis has a face to face appointment with a doctor 🥳 As I only have 9 rows to knit to complete the 2nd wrist warmer I will complete that before I do the cheerleading, although I will leave the sewing up until later 😉 Update on DSis’s appointment: not with a doctor but with a Stop Smoking counsellor which she had already said no to 😠 She was so annoyed that she popped into the surgery just round the corner (when DH & I first moved in they weren’t taking new patients 😉) & picked up a registration form. DH & I have finished the hm soup. DH went out for his walk about 16:30. I have tried to speak to cousin R for the 2nd evening in a row & had to leave a message. I will try again tomorrow 🤞I retrieved the Bolognaise sauce *from the freezer & we had this with conchiglie (*I hadn’t thought it through 😂) Wudupa. I have started knitting the scarf. The weather has been miserable but warm, although the heavy rain held off until about 20:00.

Liverpool_Anne, you might not have felt you were busy on a Monday & Tuesday but you still managed to get quite a bit done 👏 Good luck with the baby blankets 🍀 but do remember to get some sleep 😉 Lovely cheerleading as usual 😊
GrannyKate, hopefully no side effects from your jabs 🙏 Excellent decluttering & packing up 👏 Fingers crossed for both you & DD 🤞
vulpix, it is such a lovely idea to have models hanging from the ceiling but sadly not practical with low ceilings 😔 Not quite the same effect if they are stuck to the ceiling 😂 No wonder you are proud of your nephew 🥹 what a remarkable achievement especially as he is so young 🤩 I wish him every success 😊 Good luck removing the white mark on the table top 🍀
Pennypincin, some good steady decluttering 👏 Hopefully having the decorator in won’t be too disruptive 🤞 & just think of how lovely your home will be once it is done 😊
Sorry to hear about your plans being disrupted Floss 😔 However, staying dry is definitely your top priority 🙂 Perhaps a nice rug for your bedroom until you are in a position to get a new carpet 🤔 Great decluttering by DS2 & DiL & how kind of you to clean the windows 👏
Excellent work vulpix 👏 How exciting that, in the not too distant future, you will only have your possessions & furniture in your home 🥳 This will mean that should you decide to move at some point in the future, packing up will be relatively stress free 😊 Sounds like the ‘borrowers’ have all your missing earrings or maybe you have a magpie popping in every now & again 😂 sorry 🙊
TC77, you are almost there 😊 I am polishing up the gold star in anticipation 😉
nannywindow, the EDT has definitely speeded up after a couple of leisurely months 😉 Snap re the office - we made a good start but DH has stalled with the boxes he has left to go through - a crate & a box of cables 😔 Good news about DH 😊 long may the reprieve from chemo continue 🙏 Excellent work on keeping your wardrobe tidy 👏 Well done on the weight loss & fitting into the smaller sized jacket 👏 I seriously doubt that the “sizes are bigger than normal” 😉
Wednesday2000, great work dealing with the laundry 👏 & good luck with the wardrobe sort out 🍀 DH & I need to tackle ours as well as the CoD 😉 Thanks for the reminder about the flu jab 🙂
D123456789, belated Happy Birthday to your DH 🎂 It sounds like he had a lovely day 😊Well done on sorting out the fridge & hopefully you have enough leftovers to make several meals 🤞Excellent work with the shredding & thinning out of the utensils drawer 👏 Fingers crossed that DH doesn’t notice 🤞😅
Lovely post Moorviews 😊 Great decluttering 👏 & good luck with reviewing your sentimental items 🍀 I can understand how difficult it is & it might take a bit of time but if & when you release the items to new homes I believe you will feel a lot lighter 🙏 Meanwhile I am sending cwtches 🤗
2Scratters, great work sending the parcel & finding a few additional bits to go 👏 Good luck with the current listings 🍀
QueenJess, well done on being so successful with “stopping items coming in” whilst also still decluttering 👏 Especially impressed with your success at using up freezer stocks 🥳 I did smile at your DD’s wish for ‘a duck’ as a Christmas present 😁 but do hope it is as per weenancy’s post 😉
Fizz2015, hope you enjoyed your evening & managed to snuggle up in cosy pj’s 😊
Lovely idea weenancy 😊
Excellent decluttering mhagster 👏 I don’t blame you keeping the removal company boxes 😊 as they are expensive 😥
DH has just made me a coffee & I am settling down to watch a film called Boss Level.

Mrs SD, how annoying for your DSis Working at home today and realised how warm when hung some washing.out so decided to pop out to the market (7 min walk past 2 charity shop), but like to feel doing more than one thing, and CS bag looked abit too empty, so in a mini burst added, PJs (saving for best
but don't like texture) and then 1 glass and a cookbook, and then 2 more glasses so abit fuller, and dropped it in. I did come back with a knitting book - inspired by Mrs SD and others I think. and some paper declutter so 1519! Then tonight as I was thinking how at least I'd done soe, and how I generally am so much better at not bringing things in and using what I buy, at least clothes wise, that I put dishes down on the side, but too much there so a plate went flying into so many tiny pieces 1520. @Moorviews thank you , I love that this is such a lovely warm and supportive group. I do want to find time next year to knit and do things and trying to work out at what point I won't be moving things from one place to another to get to things! I think if I get to my target (and keep the in flow limited) I will see the difference. Realistic I think I use less than 10% of my belongings!
