A pottering sort of day has yielded a number of things sorted out, put away or sent on their way out of the house. Tonight’s meal is from ingredients that need using up and some more tidying is planned for tomorrow in the kitchen. Guests on NYD commented on the amount of stuff on the kitchen worktop and that is after I have reduced the amount there. Next time they come it’ll be neat and tidy - I am so very nearly there with it.
Tomorrow should also see the remaining decs put away and the table clear so I can spread papers out to work on frogs. Exciting times! I’ll get my coat…Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅19 -
Was home alone from 8-3 as son went back to school do pretty much just decluttered food and episodes of X files other than doing the washing and tea then clean up etc.. I forgot how much I hate making packed lunches 😂16

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks + a weekly Jettison Junk in January
2. Sort out sleep patterns - target bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 9:00 a.m
3. Deal with mail & email on a daily basis
4. Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
5. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
DSis is still not up to eating a meal & is also not hungry, so her dinner from last night will be cannibalised - the mash & cabbage will be added to the hm soup & the pork steak will be chopped up & added to some baked beans 🙂
Dfw38, what a lovely way to spend a Sunday, baking with your DDs 😊 I trust you donated a few chocolate brownies to the Buffet car 😅 Hope the weather was nice enough to do your CS bag drop off 🤞
charlies_tribe, how lovely that DD2 & DD3 enjoyed themselves so much that their 20 minute decluttering session turned into 50 minutes 👏😊 Pleased to hear that you have a solution for the Wetness in the bathroom 🙂 Just hope that the dehumidifier is not too heavy to be carried up and down the stairs 🤞 you can well do without injuring yourself 🙏 The siren call of the jigsaw 😂
GrannyKate, hope the lurgy has finally left the house 🤞You might have only been pottering yesterday but you got a lot done 👏 Sorry to hear about the frog but sounds like a very wise decision to let it go 😊 Enjoy your solo time in the house 🙏
EnergyShifter, a pottering day is a perfect way to end two weeks off 😊 Well done on getting more of your accounts done 👏 (Bite sized chunks aka Eating the Elephant - you know it makes sense 🙂)
Welcome back betasam 👋 Counting items is definitely not for everyone but sorry to hear it was so stressful 😥 So Good luck with your new method 🍀 A good start made on your ‘100 frogs’ - with the hole in the ceiling now repaired 👏 I also love the idea that getting prepared for the handyman meant you picked your first ongoing projects for the year 😊 Good luck 🍀
Brie, how exciting - the start of work on a new kitchen 🥳 Hope you managed to get your shower before the workmen arrived 🤞
Every bit out helps ilovetea 👏 You are allowed to do other things apart from decluttering 😂
shabbychic12, it rather sounds like you have built up your Decluttering Muscles & can now spot decluttering opportunities 😊 Excellent decluttering 👏
Excellent work decluttering the under-bed drawers Brambling 👏 Another of our declutterati flexing their Decluttering Muscles 😊
Lovely post TC77 😊 I am hoping that work isn’t too hectic & that your bosses have finally employed the extra staff that were promised last year 🤞 Some very good decluttering but what I hope you are most proud of (as I am) 🥹 is that you have resisted the temptation to buy anything in the CS for two days 🥳👏 Your comment “Saw 2 removal vans taking stuff from up the road and realise if I were to move now would need a fleet
“ did make me grin 😁 BUT only because I know that by the time you move house you will only need two removal vans yourself 😊
Welcome back to MSE, Pitlanepiglet 👋 Thank you for not only choosing to board the 2024 EDT but also for sharing your life with us 👏😊 Sorry to hear that you have had such a rough time over the last few years 😔 & may I offer my condolences on the loss of your Dad. I think that this year many of the Declutterati are finally realising that the ‘little & often’ approach to decluttering Really Does Work 👏🥳 I, for one, keep forgetting (although that may just be down to age 😂) that it has taken years for the clutter to build up so it will take more than a weekend to declutter 🤣 I see from your signature that you have made an excellent start on your decluttering 👏
QueenJess, sorry to hear that it has taken a horrible cold to get you into the TLC Carriage 😔 but please, please don’t rush back out too quickly 🙏 You have already done a great deal of decluttering 👏 so please don’t stress 🙏

@charlies_tribe that's such an eclectic and interesting list of items!Resting for most of the day and think it is working re: getting rid of this cold. I did get bored though and went through a ton of photos whilst I was stuck. About 2,750 photos left to go through on the laptop, although about 1,000 of them are from my honeymoon, so I suspect most of these will stay!Digital:

Straight into cheerleading
ruby_eskimo, an excellent weekend of decluttering & sorting 👏 So much done when you don’t have a DH distracting you 🤣🙃 Well done on getting the clutter “Out, Out” rather than just “Out” 😉 Not sure what to suggest about your little mouse visitor seeing as he is so reluctant to use the humane trap 🤔 although I can see that Brie & Brambling have both suggested peanut butter 🙂
flamingo747, you are very welcome 🙂 An absolutely brilliant morning of decluttering 👏 although I am curious as to whether or not you found the errant ‘car battery pack’?
2Scratters, I was wondering where you were 😉 although it has been rather difficult boarding as the EDT is moving so fast - Warp 9 last time I checked 😅 Very pleased to see you back for another year of decluttering 👋 Fingers crossed that now the plans have been passed, the new extension will be started once the nicer weather arrives 🤞
foxandflowers I can confirm flamingo747’s response “LDFPA = Laundered, Dried, Folded, Put Away” not too sure it is a particularly good acronym but it works for me 😉 Sorry to hear that currently your sales on V*nted are only paying for repairs to the van 😔 Good luck with sorting the costume jewellery 🍀 By the way have you seen how much nice pieces of costume jewellery can be sold for 🤞 Maybe you could ‘list’ job lots of costume jewellery - might bring in a few more pennies/pounds 🙂 Good luck with listing the 450+ items of clothing 🍀 A good idea to raise funds for potential purchases & savings for Christmas 👏😊 Well done on the weight loss 👏
TheDoolallyDilly, every little bit helps 👏
Excellent decluttering Millie2008_2 👏 almost into triple figures 🤩 Good luck with V*nted 🍀 Hope you can raise lots of ££ as a weekend away is a lovely goal & something to look forward to 🤞😊
Welcome aboard the EDT Mrs_Money_Penny 👋 of course you can join us 😊 I can see that QueenJess has already given you a warm welcome into our Declutterati family as well as some useful Tips to get you started 😊 From what you have said in your post, it appears that most if not all your clutter is hidden 😉 My suggestion is to start by using the ‘little & often’ method 🙂 This should get you into the swing of decluttering so that by the time your husband has retired you will have a system in place that he can just slot into 😊 With two of you tackling cupboards & flexing your Decluttering Muscles, by the time you start on the bigger areas like the attic you will be decluttering fit 🥳 Just remains for me say that I hope you can enjoy the Decluttering Journey with your end goal of downsizing as a shining beacon to you both 😊
flamingo747, DSis is still not feeling quite right but is definitely better & has just had a bowl of chicken noodle soup - although she has just informed me that she couldn’t really taste it 😔 I think I have been lucky so far in that nothing that has left my house has been missed 🍀
-taff, hopefully you are correct 🤞I think the fear for me is accidentally decluttering something with strong emotional ties 😥
Spot on flamingo747 😊 LDFPA = Laundered, Dried, Folded, Put Away.
Dfw38 hope you have better luck tomorrow making your donations 🍀 I need to drop off my bag tomorrow & as the weather is getting colder I am hoping that hand knitted scarves & hats will be happily accepted 🤞Hope you can come up with some useful storage ideas in the DCs bedrooms 🤞
dND, not sure I would want to share my chocolate hazelnut spread with a mouse 🤣
QueenJess, a lovely welcome for Mrs_Money_Penny 😊
Nearly there but I think I need to have a little break whilst my dinner settles 😉 Will be back later 👋

I was clearing out my drawers while saying wee/teeth repeatedly to the children #multitaskadeclutter and my son asks me (mocks me I’d say!?) as to why I have so many random pebbles/stones in my desk draw. They were his!
