Morning All, we had a light dusting of snow yesterday evening but gone now. OH has the lurgy and seemed to spend most of the night coughing then alarm at 6:15am equals a little tired. Minimal decluttering as back on the office but am prepping meals, and decluttering my freezer and trying to minimise food waste and going to the supermarket.17

Morning all - determined to stay in and do useful things today. I still haven't completed post Christmas tidy up. Went through DGS4's clothes yesterday and found 20 or so too small items for CS bag - can't do it when he is here as he objects even to things he never wears. Need to find a solution for random bedding which is around the place. Need to do DGD4's clothes but I will sort out a pile of things and then she can decide Thursday if she wants them or not. Still sniffling with the occasional sneeze and cough. This lurgy has been a 'pig'.
39 Dining Room all tidied and put back to 'normal'
40 Birthday cards posted - the rest of January ones are here and ready. Only one February birthday which is overseas so I will get a card for that
41 DS2's prescription sorted at his new surgery
42 Seat mats which went under grandchildren's car seats to CS bag. No car seats anymore as they are all too big for them - the end of an era
43 Last of Family History 'stuff' reviewed - I was working through alphabet backwards again and finished 'a'. Lots of stuff to delete now.
Right I need a shower then I will get started. Not enough washing to make up a load - first time for weeks the machine can have a day off. I need to go to a meeting tomorrow so I can do CS drop off then.2025 Decluttering Campaign 648/2025 🏅🏅🏅🏅(🏅🏅) 🌟🌟

Hi all, slept well last night so the first load of towels and tea towels is in the machine. I am going to try them on the line as although it is cold the forecast is sunny spells with a gentle breeze plus the maiden is full with normal washing done yesterday
. I need to head out to the garden centre as we are going to see a friend's son who has just got engaged and as they set up home last year we are at a bit of a loss what to get them so this is just to go with the card until we work it out
. Heading for my 2nd cuppa and then I will get weaving.
Take care everyone

Catching up while waiting for appt, is there no speed limit to the train?!
@charlies_tribe v impressive
Mrs SD I am expecting a van delivery from my dad's depending on d nephew availability or maybe dniece's b/f.
Mini drawers for screws etc collected via freesite as I moved mine into a sturdy metal one brought from my dad's. Pen and cloth out ( true tinkering).
Going through jewellery is difficult. With clothes and jewellery I put these on and if I realise I don't want to go out even to the shops then it goes ( unless for gardening / decorating for which it has to be stained/ stretched and of no use to the cs except for recyling). I have been known to.get to the end of the road and realise I feel uncomfortable and come back home.
Rediscovered a ring today which I Will keep as I like it and wearing my new clothes.is it on this thread that someone suggested shopping from your home?! Will test how old jumper compares to new and maybe oust but do know jumpers bobble more these days so could be a Justin:)

A little bit more pottering has yielded a pair of tweezers that were rubbish right from the beginning, so no idea why I still had them about 5 years later
I also found a costume jewellery ring that I don't like or wear, and in the kitchen a jar of mustard seeds with a BB date sometime in 2011
Does anyone know where I can get rid of coat hangers. No charity shops seem to want them in my area (although there is one small one which might, I might try there). I think M&$ take theirs back? Hmm. Maybe I'll try Olio. I seem to have loads, I don't want the clothes to fill them!!Enjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.

@Liverpool_Anne The beetles/weevils often are in the glue or folds at the tops of the bags. Frequently it's not the beetles but their eggs which you can't see but later hatch while the bags are stored. What I did/will do once I have a fridge and freezer again, is put all the packages of dried goods into the freezer for a few days. I believe that the V & A does their clothing this way for 3 days to kill of bugs and eggs.
It also works for paper flour packets, but you have to air them properly before storing them in the cupboard because of the condensation that occurs once you take them out of the freezer.xxAiming for a Champagne Lifestyle on a Lemonade Budget

Hi,
Charlies tribe, what a liberating amount of stuff to go in one go. It must make a huge difference.
LiverpoolAnne, I read years ago to avoid flour beasties keep your flour in the fridge. I have done this for years and years. Visitors to my fridge think it's most odd. I have never had flour beetles but tbh I never had them before either.
The Doolallydilly, I have given away excess coat hangers on a local thrift site, Tesco also have a recycling point for plastic clothes hangers.
Oooo what a time we have had. Over the festive season DD1's bf touched the radiator in the spare room and the damned thing started spurting water everywhere from where the pipe goes into the radiator. Mr V managed to cobble it back together. Every towel we had was used to mop up. Last night I was in there sorting my craft drawers and must have touched the radiator and the damn thing did it again. I was sat on the floor.twas a bit of a shock to have hot water spurt on my back! Mr V once more to the rescue but he can't get the pipe to grip this time. Orrible black stuff on the new carpet which did come out with carpet shampoo. Loads of fabric soaked, every towel we own soaked. It gets better. As MR V was hanging out the washed towels, the line broke. So that is 4 loads of washing done already today. No heat. Waiting to hear back from the plumber.
I have managed to find a second hand blind for the kitchen window. Need to find a door curtain to match now. I am aiming to buy new to me this year if I possibly can, with the exception of underwear and toiletries.
Updated numbers
Out 65. punch bowl set, broken dish
In 9. fitbit,clothes,blind

@vulpix Oh we have a big Tesco near here, I'll try there. I do keep some as I dry clothes on them, and in case of breakages, but I keep finding them everywhere!
I chipped away at The Frog, and have saved some scanned documents (not shredded yet) and found a used up notebook when I wasn't even looking for stuff to recycle - bonus. Decluttering my lunch nowEnjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.

Hello all, I’m with Vulpix and a few others in maintenance mode for over seven years now. I love having a tidy clean home with everything having a place but really miss the fix of throwing things away 😂 It’s definitely addictive and I’m often found trying to infiltrate my relatives to clear their homes .
I read along here and other decluttering articles as it often spurs me to relook at things, I’ve just checked herbs and spices as it always feels like you only bought them a month or two ago when you find the date is two years!I have just booked a slot for free bulky waste with the council to collect my oven. I feel very lucky that my council don’t stop collecting over Christmas, even green waste which is also free. All four bins are done in rotation.
I will check toiletries today as I was given a couple at Xmas and I’m needing shower gel so will check if I have any left. I always let my dds know what I need for Xmas or birthdays when they ask so I don’t get anything I won’t use or need . Usually it’s consumable as in toiletries or garden plants.
I used Marie kondo and got rid of huge amounts at once, and saw progress quickly. Also as much as it’s good to recycle ,sometimes you need to get it away from the house quickly so although the money from selling would of been great, taking it to the charity shop or giving away means it’s gone.
I found minimal mom on YouTube is very good at explaining methods of decluttering even if she is very minimal. She has a few children too so may help those who have families.
Wishing you all good luck 🍀 with your own decluttering journey.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.17
