I put the bin out earlier and it was heavier than normal, suggesting I've been more ruthless than I thought.
I asked OH to decide the fate of some broken salt and pepper grinders, but they seem to have been moved onto the windowsill... Hmm...
Formal decluttering has been on hold with work and life getting in the way. However, I plan to declutter some toiletries by treating myself to a bath and a bit of a facial.18 -
@Mrs_Salad_Dodger sentimental items are a big thing to work through really. In my case, I try and find or zero in on one or two things that remind me of the person, a good photo will usually do it and then I also hve a few things scattered round that I either wear or use regularly. I have my grans old rolling pin that has lost it's two little handles but I use it every time I make flatbreads. I have my mothers skirt that she made and that I wear when it fits me. I have my fathers whetstone that I use occasionally to sharpen things. I have my uncles hankies that I use, obviously, to blow my nose or clean my glasses
I have the same cookbook with a Christmas cake recipe my father always used. I have a photo of them each in a frame, both good photos, and I see thsoe every day because they're on my bookshelf.
I don't do ornamanets, luckily, I only have about three and two of those are dala horses from early last century and they are currently wrapped and ina box waiting for a proper home. I also have quite a few photos, but again, I don't look at them because who ever does sit down for an afternoon expressly to look at photos? `I try and keep them to a minimum unless they are things that I can use every day. I wear a ring my mother bought off gypsies when she was young, it's like a curled up snake, and love the story behind it. When she bought it the gypsy said she's always have money, and she did eventually, but also because the ring is made of lira pieces, and thus made of moneyNon me fac calcitrare tuum culi19 -
Fridge today. Started with just one jar. Then whole top shelf of jars- then drawers in door. All while cooking dinner. All nice and organised and fresh now 🙌🏼 wasn’t even in my hit list but wanted to do something today. Finding it easier to declutter in a multi task way when the week is weeky/enough chores!

Thankyou for your ongoing support @Mrs_Salad_Dodger. I feel better today. I have managed to stay awake and not snore on th the couch like the proverbial beached whale. I will pop into the TLC carriage as soon as I feel the need. Lessons have been learnt
Welcome to new declutterers. This is my favourite thread on the forum just for the support and laughs it gives me. I have been decluttering for a long long time now but have definitely made progress thanks to all the tips and the support when even a dead pen leaves the house.
So a good few days:
2 bags of clear plastic to the recycling bins at Tesgo
3 bags of clothes and bric to the CS
4 bags of electronics to the recycling centre
2 big binliners of plastics to the recycling centre
1 bag of general waste (wood/metal) recycling centre
1 mixed bag of socks, toiletries to DS2 and
1 bag of online sales delivered/taken to the post office. Total 14 bags out and 16/100 bags for the year.
Some of this has been sitting aroung for a while and disposing of it made me feel only joy
Today I started sorting the fabrics which are in and on top of a big double wardrobe. I want everything to do with crafts that I want to keep to be only in this wardrobe. I already have two large bags full for ragging. Not sure why I was keeping some of it.
I also found 3 bags of carrier bits of fabric my friend kept to 'do something with'. I took them to help HER clear out looking in the bags magpie like loving the colours. Actually I am never going to use them and they are not really good for much. They have gone in the bin.
This is fabric sorting part 1 as I have many big plastic boxes which were put the garage when DD came back home to live. Par two can wait. Quick update on totals: hoping to unearth my get up and go as it's been absent for some time.
70-75: carrier bags back to delivery driver.
76: 50 emails deleted.
77-78: emptied the shredder and shredded some more paper and plastic cards - shredding doesn't go into recycling here so OK to mix it.
79-94: items to bin
96-120: 25 GB data deleted.‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

@Wednesday2000 I clip my cats' nails with what I guess are toe nail clippers. Sometimes I have to get my roommate to hold the cat while I do it, but it easy to do. I have two cats getting their nails clipped this way.
I started the day decluttering something that I had asked one of the men to do, but he was too squeamish - put the dead rat in the trash can for pickup today. So I did it, plus decluttered some other stuff from in front of the house (hidden behind the garage). Our feral cat had brought it to us as a present. Showing us he is protecting us from mice and rats (and unfortunately an occasional lizard). He is also the one who brings us cleaning towels several times a week.
Not making much headway in getting roommates to declutter as one is wearing a special boot on her leg and one is having laser surgery on his legs this week. I'm the only one mobile before 4:00 pm around here. By then it is getting darker and no one wants to go out and help with the yard so the Mormon missionaries are coming to help me on Saturday.
Found a shirt in my closet that I couldn't fit very well a year ago. Tried it on and it fits perfectly now. So am wearing it. Will be going to my eye doctor today to find out about getting new glasses so I can stop seeing double when I drive. I just need a new lens but would like a set of glasses without the bi-focal part. It just doesn't work for me. I only wear my glasses when driving. The rest of the time I take them off.
Still keeping up with the 24 for 2024 items to go out or frogs to finish. It is mostly organizing what is staying that is the problem at the moment.

Evening all, not much decluttering done today as RL has conspired to scupper any chances of success but I am currently organising the dcs art supplies to make life easier.
I also have a confession to make... I saw a dress I fell in love with on v!nted and ordered it 🫢.
I saw it in m&s before Xmas and was about to queue to pay for it when my ds had a huge tantrum due to shopping overwhelm so I put it back. When I went back a few days later they had all gone... and on the website too.
I found it purely by chance, my size, bnwt and £15 cheaper than I was willing to pay in the shop. 😁 So forgive me declutterati for I have sinned... stylishly and in an mse way 🤣

Nothing declutterred from here today other than £££ for my dentist bill,my dentist is no longer NHS and no one else in town is taking new patients 🙄
I didn't sleep well last night and fell asleep under my electric throw with the cat after work so just wrote a to do list after dinner rather than any sorting today the advantage of living alone a long uninterrupted nap 😴

Decluttered 8 forks back to my workplace canteen that I had borrowed to eat my lunch and then inadvertently taken home.
I'm also decluttering some fabric by making it into a skirt. It's coming along nicely and should be finished by next week16
