@Brie oooh it'll be fab when it's done though!Enjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.
Decluttering - January 2024 - 89 physical objects, over 700 emails/digital decluttering 🎊 🏅🏅15 -
Ok, so Brie that's the 'before' picture, I bet the 'after' one will be amazing. I think the kitchen is the worse room in the house to re-do
I had mine done about 12 years ago and lived out of boxes and climbing over things for ages, but well worth it once done, but at the time pretty stress inducing I recommend a large box of chocolates and maybe a vino or two, although I don't drink I am partial to the odd gallon of tea/coffee to keep my pecker up (with a few chocolates for added bliss)

@foxandflowers sainsburys and tesco do great gf lasagna sheets, spaghetti and pasta. Easy to cook and you can barely see or taste the difference. In fact DH eats the same pasta, as I cant be bothered to cook 2 different types and he cant tell the difference. 😊. Also gf bread can be very dry but warburtons gf squares are lovely. They are quite expensive so I stock up when they are on offer and keep them in the freezer.craft stash 2023 =161, 2024 = 119 2025 = £25.96 spent, 128 made and 5 mended,

MrsSD your poor DSis
also, not in the boot as I sorted that fully on sunday
@2Scratters I lost the diamond from my engagement ring when I was 5 days overdue with Junior Flamingo. I cried a lot about it. I eventually had a replacement ring, but the stoneless one lives in my jewellery box still
Tackled the DVD/games, +18 for bits to go but hopefully more when Mr F has taken a look through his. Toys +1 checked and packed up, +39 others decided on. +1 random plastic ring, +6 paper inserts, +2 games cases, +2 candles, +1 photo frame, +5 candle holders, +1 duplicate can from Junior Flamingo's collection of cans. +1 empty storage, +1 tested a toy with new batteries, prob going. +4 random wheeley chair type wheels, no clue what they belong to! So +82 today
I am beginning to wonder if I am going to hit maintenance in the next few months. My remaining places to purge are becoming few and far betweenMarried 40y.o. mum of an autistic 11y.o. Carer/SAHM.

@charlies_tribe - at 34 my Barbies are still stashed in the loft >.< I did have a bit of a sort out of my Polly Pockets in 2020 though and sold a few for a considerable profit, especially as it wasn't me who bought them, though I sort of regret the one sale so that put a holt to any more going until I'm super sure, haha.
@vulpix - I do hope the radiator water wasn't too hot and that your ok!
@Mrs_Salad_Dodger - your poor DSis, hopefully her son sees sense in the near future.
3 More vinted sales! I don't know what's going on over there!
1 old tablet boxed up ready for the boyfriend. I feel like i should count it as 2 items as the box was in my bedroom and the tablet in my studio, but I'll be good haha! If it's no good for what he wants I can trade it in for £40 so either way I've decluttered it from my life! (Feel I should add we don't live together, so if it goes to his house it's an out for me!).
So that's me up to 39/2024 I have everything crossed for a bit more progress tomorrow x
I hope you know your capable, & brave, & significant.
even when it feels like your not....18 -
1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks + a weekly Jettison Junk in January
2. Sort out sleep patterns - target bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 9:00 a.m
3. Deal with mail & email on a daily basis
4. Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
5. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
I left my house at noon, waited a few minutes for the bus & a few minutes for the DLR & got into Lewisham about 12:40. First stop B*OTs to drop a carrier bag full of ood meds. A sensible handover as I had to tip the contents of the bag into a tray (to make sure I hadn’t misinformed them about the contents - no ‘sharps’; then into a bank to get some cash; next stop BRC who were happy to accept 6 hand knitted scarves & a too tight elasticated knee brace 🙂; posted letters; into St. Christopher’s hospice shop to drop off a cable & moss stitch matching scarf & hat set, 3 Cable & Moss Stitch Hats, 4 Feather & Fan Stitch Scarves & DSis’s XMas present from her friend - hair drying hood type towel (she has very short hair) 😉. I looked for further Shetland books in both CS but was unlucky - maybe next time 🤞Bought 2 bowls of mushrooms in the market; popped into MrS to cash in winning scratch card (XMas present from DSis) & lastly went into Cards Direct & bought 6 months worth of birthday cards (42 cards for less than £33 🥳) Then DLR & bus - arriving home about 14:30. A very successful jaunt & I had wrapped up well & wore my Turtle Doves gloves (a gift from a lovely member of our declutterati family 😊) so I was nice & warm although I must remember to put on a woolly hat next time 😉
43 Bag of ood meds
44 - 60 items dropped off at 2 charity shops
To cap off a good day, the sky is tinged red so I am hoping it will be sunny & dry tomorrow 🤞
Wednesday2000, it might have taken longer than you intended to sort out your toiletries drawer But now you can see at a glance what you have & there should be no danger of having to bin anything else or overbuying 😊👏 A job well done 👏 + you found time to sort your sock drawer 😊 Perhaps you had completed all the jobs on your To Do list 😉 🤞
London_1, that was an excellent decluttering session 👏 So good in fact that a medal🏅 is on its way 😊
Lovely post flamingo747 😊 Let me just send a quick warning to ‘gaming & DVDs’ that they are about to come under attack from a demon declutterer 😂
Wednesday2000, like you I do love a hand written list 😊 Although there is also the fact that I still don’t own a mobile phone 🤣
florianatwobob, thanks for the information about MrS’s gf pasta 👏
-taff, interesting 🤔 I might try that as I am wondering if DSis might be gf intolerant 🤨
Excellent decluttering Mrs_Money_Penny 👏 although it is a shame about the pens 😔 Don’t worry about the bulk of the amount decluttered being digital as digital clutter can be just as stressful as physical clutter 😔
Crazycatlady2, great work crossing off items from your To Do list 👏 How exciting - 3 new windows 😊
Mamaofmanybudgets, Excellent work not only decluttering but tidying as well 👏 & Well done on pushing through the ‘demotivated days’ 🙂
TheDoolallyDilly, sounds like your op went well 🤞 Please don’t overdo it when you get home 🙏 & remember if the doctor has instructed you to rest you should rest 😉 The TLC Carriage does expand to welcome everyone who needs it 😅
2Scratters, sounds like getting your Dad’s house emptied by the end of the month will be hard graft 😔 but if it can be sold before the new Council Tax kicks in you will have a very happy Dad 😊 I agree that doubling it is excessive 😡 - councils just don’t seem to understand that it takes time to get a house ready for sale especially if it has been someone’s home for decades 😔 No need to hang your head in shame all you need to do is deliver the crochet blankets by the end of the week 😉 Good luck with getting the ‘diamond solitaire’ issue resolved 🍀
Dfw38, very kind of you & I will pass on the hugs 🤗
Excellent decluttering & you dealt with frogs too Happy_Kitties 👏 You are motoring along on your neutral items 👏 although I am pleased that you are able to move some on sooner rather than later 🥳
Brie, now let me have a think 💭 🤔 …………….. yep, I can safely class that as an extreme declutter 😅 The workmen certainly didn’t waste any time 😉
London_1, wish I had been on the MSE forum when we had our kitchen done 9 years ago 😉 I would definitely have taken your advice & stocked up on chocolates & wine 😉
Soontobeoap, thanks for the extra information about gf pasta 👏 I have now bookmarked MrS’s choices 🙂
flamingo747, oh well so much for the errant car battery pack 😔 Excellent decluttering of games & DVDs 👏 At this rate you will not only reach your goal of Maintenance Decluttering but also your 500 items ousted target 🥳
Lovely post pixtotts 😊 Shame about the one regret when sorting through your Polly Pockets 😔 Although it does mean that if you ever decide to thin out your Barbie collection, you will probably take a bit more time before reaching any decisions 😊 Great news about the V*nted sales - you obviously have some good quality merchandise 👏
All caught up, so will post & start prepping dinner. I might see everyone later 👋
