Morning all. Sending healing vibes to those in the TLC carriage.
Had a fairly productive weekend. While DH was out helping his dad on Saturday I managed to:
- finish decluttering the pyjama and workout drawer
- organised my drawer with skirts and jeans etc.
- organised and decluttered my underwear where I finally got rid of the knickers that I don't like anymore
Friday night we discovered a little mouse friend had taken refuge in our house. After no sign in any of the (humane) traps by Sunday, we took the opportunity to declutter one of our bookcases in the living room so we could move it out and see if he was hiding behind there (spoiler alert, he was in the kitchen and is now probably behind the washing machine / fridge freezer 🙄😣 any tips would be much appreciated!).
So yesterday afternoon I dropped off a bunch of clothes at the donation bins and then a whole bunch of cookery books and a couple of board games to the charity book shop. Just totalled it up and we're now at 115 items out! And they have actually left the house, rather than hanging around in a bag at the top of the stairs or in the boot of my car so that's progress!

Thank you for the star and medal MrsSD

Bit of a morning purging because I am trying to find this car battery pack that is quite urgently needed, so I've sorted 2 cupboards and two drawers as well as my big charity shop box. I've tried to be a lot more ruthless with what won't actually sell at CS, and bin accordingly. Better in my landfill that miles and miles of carbon created just to go straight in a different landfill anyhow!
Things I've gotten rid of: massage oil, WM instructions I didn't know I had and just looked them up online last time, 4 glasses cases and 2 cloths, half pack of balloon two packs of sparklers, heel gels, dry shoes polish, 3 notebooks, calendar, 2 cables, 1 pack of fundraising papers, 9 bottles of craft paint, 10 brushes, pallete, and papers (for craft club), 2 storage boxes, tinsel and 4 Dec's, dog bowl, 4 toys, 1 pen, 4 placements 4 coasters, 7 small tubs, 1 belt, 3 cups, 1 food cover.

Morning Peeps (just about),
need to get my footprint in here and say I am with you again for 2024 and happy new year.
No numbers just keeping going. Like others I too am bringing stuff from parents to repurpose and or move on.
We still have not got anything sorted for starting the extension
even though plans have been passed.
Used artificial tree from parents house this year instead of our normal real one. Saved some pennies there. It has now had the baubles removed and I aim to make each sibling a door wreath with them as a feature for next Christmas.
Need to empty my car and pop some bags off at the cs.
Speak soon

i can second peanut butter also dried fruit has worked for me before (sultanas or raisins) but cut up quite small so they don't reach in and grab and big piece and pull it out, they are sneaky little b*****s . Lucky but current cat has only ever brought in two in 6 yearsBrie said:@ruby_eskimo

What does LDFPA mean? I feel like I am missing a good acronym!
Decluttered a pair of jeans on Vinted, and also a long silver chain to a buyer on FB Marketplace -which has helped to go towards the rather large money decluttering that has occurred from needing to put new brake pads and discs on the van
It needs new tyres too but I can't afford that at the moment. I'm planning to sort out my jewelry tonight - I have a whole box of costume jewelry that is entirely pointless. I don't wear anything other than what I wear constantly - so why am I keeping so many bits of tat?? ❀ total debt at LBM 01/2023: £47,178.76 ❀ debt at highest point: £51,062.14 ❀❁ currently - £unknown ❁ emergency fund - £wiped out ❁⚜ £1600+ made on vinted since 2023 ⚜------------------------------------------------------------------------millenial hopecore at its finest ❧14 -
foxandflowers, lovely to see you back from the TLC Carriage 👋 I do believe you might be joking about 450 items of clothing to list on V*nted 🙃😉 If not I wish you luck 🍀 & hopefully you will not only sell everything but get fair prices🤞Is the money raised for something special? - you do remember how ‘curious’ I am 😂
Nope, not a joke. Actually potentially a slight under-estimation! I'm not saving for anything in particular, but I am implementing a one in one out policy; in that if I want something, I have to sell enough things to raise the funds for the thing I want before I can get it! Luckily there isn't much that I do actually want, so I'm just aiming to make about £50 a month, and hopefully that takes some stress out of next Christmas.
Forgot to add - 19 emails unsubscribed from since Jan 1st. Hurrah.
And 2.3lbs decluttered.❀ total debt at LBM 01/2023: £47,178.76 ❀ debt at highest point: £51,062.14 ❀❁ currently - £unknown ❁ emergency fund - £wiped out ❁⚜ £1600+ made on vinted since 2023 ⚜------------------------------------------------------------------------millenial hopecore at its finest ❧18 -
Hugs to all those in the TLC carriage. There's some horrible viruses going round.
As I'm in the office today there's no decluttering going on at home! I did unsubscribe to one mailing list when I was checking personal emails on the train this morning.Teeny tiny baby steps 😁Enjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.

Wow, some fab decluttering going on! I am now up to 97 items- bits and bobs, a handbag declutter, tidy of the bottom of one wardrobe, bedside drawers, undies and socks drawer and DD decluttered some Peppa Pig toys, to donate to a friend's little one.
I need to sort DD's PJs and donate outgrown ones to a friend and tackle her wardrobe too, when I can bear it!
I want to get going on Vinted, as I have a pile of stuff to sell and I'd like to put the money towards a weekend away maybe.....
I have been watching Clutterbug on YouTube, for inspiration15 -
1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks + a weekly Jettison Junk in January
2. Sort out sleep patterns - target bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 9:00 a.m
3. Deal with mail & email on a daily basis
4. Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
5. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Forgot to mention that when I did the wudupa last night, I also decluttered 5 small plastic lidded pots although I did keep 6 for small amounts of leftovers.

Monday is an overcast day & according to the weather forecast it is snowing - although it is colder - all I can say is it must be that ‘invisible snow’ 🤣 where you just see one or two flakes a minute.. Couple of pieces of nice news - the Tube strike is off & DH, who subscribes to a podcast (from Australia) about MotoGP has had his user name selected for a prize/gift of quite expensive work/motorcycle boots & a few pairs of warm socks 🙂 I have my first cuppa & am about to start cheerleading
Natty68, the trouble is when you are on a roll, you can completely forget that decluttering is a marathon not a sprint 😉 So I do understand your comment “I think I over decluttered..lol” However you did still manage a great amount of decluttering 👏 Pleased to hear that you have put DH’s mind at rest (although it does seem rather worrying/annoying that you were the only one packing when you moved house 🤨) & hopefully he will help with the decluttering rather than making unhelpful comments & leaving it all to you 😉🙏 Also do remember that you are NOT a ‘hoarder’ you are a ‘collector’ 😊 It is just that you have too many ‘collections’ 😂 2024 is your year 👏
Radish72, excellent work - tackling 3 of your 6 categories - books, bedding & kitchen cupboards 👏 Deserves a medal 🏅 which is winging its way to you 😊
fritzie-65, firstly congratulations on a successful 2023 - one less Room/Area of Doom 👏🥳 Good luck with this year’s choice - Attic of Doom 🍀 Very pleased to see that you have inspired your DH to join you aboard the EDT 😊
Happy_Kitties, excellent decluttering especially the neutral items 👏
Well done on resisting temptation in the NT book shop oceanspirit 👏
Crazycatlady2, well done DD2 👏 Fingers crossed that when you do decide to move you will have decluttered so much that packing up will be a doddle 🤞
Wednesday2000, the EDT is moving so fast that I am surprised anyone is keeping up 😉 There are few things that are as nice as breaking in a new mattress 🙂 Great decluttering of lotions - two birds with one stone - more space in the bathroom & lots of self care/TLC 😊 Congratulations on getting to Day 7 of dry January 👏 & hope the dentist visit next week goes well 🤞
What a great post vulpix 👏 They do say confession is good for the soul 😉 although I agree with TheDoolallyDilly that you ‘deserve clothes that fit’ 😊
Brie, very pleased to hear that OH is pitching in with the kitchen decluttering 👏 even if he is splitting the work over a couple of days 😉 I was admiring both the tidy art desk AND the artwork - you are a very talented artist 👩🎨 Good luck with the continuing kitchen declutter 🍀
TheDoolallyDilly more good decluttering 👏 Don’t forget to update your ‘signature’ 🙂
CMD79, hopefully you had time to clear your art desk before heading off to yoga 🤞Excellent decluttering 👏 with that amount you are currently half a week ahead 🥳
flamingo747, I thought after Saturday’s marathon session of decluttering at DSIL’s house, you might have had at least a bit of a rest yesterday 😉 Although reading on I can see that you were making full use of the van 👏 Brilliant decluttering & I see that you have passed the halfway mark 👏 so your 2nd Gold Star ⭐️ is on its way 🥳 The final part of your post is inspirational “Slowly but surely I'm starting to feel the progress in my home. It is infinitely easier to keep clean when the clutter is gone. Whenever I feel sad about discarding a Justin, or something I love but don't need or use, I remind myself that it is just a temporary feeling, and like all feelings it too will soon blow away like a dark cloud. My peace in my home is more valuable than the things I have filled it with” 😊
13:15 & it has finally started snowing 🌨️ although not quite enough to settle at the moment.
florianatwobob, excellent decluttering & tidying 👏 The huge amount of recycling has earned you a medal 🏅 I know what you mean about the satisfaction of not sending ‘stuff’ to landfill but also the slight frustration at how much recycling there is rather than being able to re-use 😔 There is only so much cardboard you can use in the garden 😉
Excellent decluttering of the attic, fritzie-65 👏 I hope DH is doing as well with his workshop decluttering 😉
Welcome aboard the EDT Seaotter 👋 Lovely to see you 😊 Might I suggest that you settle into the TLC Carriage & avail yourself of the waitress service whilst you are deciding how to proceed 😊 Good luck 🍀
The timer for 3 x 24 minutes has just gone off so a perfect time to post this. Sadly the snow has stopped 😔 Both DH & DSis are up & about and DSis seems to be feeling slightly better 🤞
